I am currently reading this book and I find it to be a very sad but wonderful story. I feel this woman suffered from more than one misfortune. One was getting cervical cancer during a time when patient's rights were routinely not recognized whether they were black, white or otherwise. The other was having a husband that cheated and brought home venereal disease to his wife, (HPV-18) that probably encouraged her development of cancer eventually killing her.

the fact she has cervical cancer and talk about a cancer virus makes me think they used her to create HPV which is linked to cervical cancer and what about the push for HPV vaccination? Excellent story...you have to pre-order the book on Amazon.. i hope the family gets paid and continue their campaign for global recognition. What i want to know is the complete list of Henrietta Lacks to the medical field and ALL the cures that were derived as a result of her cells.
