I am so happy that we don't have a draft and have an all volunteer military. because some of the ignorance that I have seen posted on here does not need to be serving in our great military. If we did bring back the draft, we would have stupidity and ignorance galore. I would not want anyone I know in the military to have to rely on some ignorant idiot to save his or anyone else's life.  Let those that volunteer continue to serve and keep this country free!

Personally I think the fact that the US ever had a draft is frankly a disgrace to all that died in the revolutionary war. Pure fascism, that's all there is to it. Any politician that supports one is clearly in violation of their oath, not that any politicians actually take that seriously. But realistically those that authorize a draft are guilty of treason, and should be tried accordingly.

Just don't take, use or expect a government backed student loans, roads, police protection, protection from hostile nations, protection from corporations pushing out dangerous foods and drugs, a national currency, criminal courts, civil courts, unemployment benefits, national parks or social security.

Otherwise you are part of this nation and you owe duty to it just like the rest of us. Get it?

This country should have a mandatory two year service for everyone, after that when you get out your completely free from conscription and drafts. I am not one of those Obama supporting pussies, I just think that this country has enjoyed a false sense of security for far too long and the people should be prepared. For virtually 80 years not a single war has touched our soil and its lulled everyone into this fantasy that we will never be hurt. So its going to be a real nut punch when it happens.

Why is it someone's "duty" to serve? If an American does not believe in fighting wars due to religious or even personal reasons, they should not have to be told it is their duty to fight. I'm willing to bet that most "volunteering" soldiers don't even really know what the war they are fighting in is really about and are just joining the military for some sense of pride, fulfillment or respect.
