dancing around the den!!! Thank you Jerry so much for the good times, the stories, and for the music that shot right into my heart and soul, making me the man I am today! Forever Grateful...
"Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right!" .
Thx. I've loved the Dead for over 20 yrs., but JGB far surpasses them. Seemed like Jerry could go in his direction full tilt. I saw a comment about wishing there was more of it to purchase. I was kinda, well, bothered by this. Jerry would be the first to say show copies aren't to be bought and sold, they are to be passed on. So the music never stops. Guess it takes a bit of effort now. I got a couple handfuls of JGB shows to pass on.
i was @ this show, i was 14 and had seen the GD twice in 91, but this, my First JGB show, is when i signed up for life. Thanks a million for posting these clips of the show. Any chance you have the "what a Wonderful world" encore video? that was the highlight of the show for me and i've yet to see it on Video. Thanks a million Brother.
I love this song; I have played it probably15 times since I found it. My friend say's we where at this show, but my memory must be completely shot because I can't imagine forgetting this song or the show, for that matter. He was such an incredible musician and I loved the variety of musicians he played with and the wide range of songs. It truly emphasizes his creativity, versality and incredible talent he had. Thank you for sharing this.
Went to this show with guy who saw the dead about 100 times. Blues traveller opened. has to be greatest version of Shining Star ever. This guy said to me as we were keaving, man if the dead could play like that nowadays, it would be great.
Was at this show...last JGB show I saw live and the placed rocked out like only the Garden could. We were on the floor...Jerry's side about 25 rows back and he was in a great mood....can't you tell by this video?
My third comment on this video. This is far and away the best version of this song by this band I've ever heard. The official JGB release of the Hampton show with Hornsby is a crime - they should have released this show.
that's one of the tightest, funkiest solos I've ever heard from Garcia. I've never heard this tune before either. I saw JGB at Worcester Centrum in '91 I think it was, it was a relaxed, tight show. Go Jerry!
We killed em; they killed him; everyone had a hand including his own to be sure. He carried as many as he could for just as long as he could. He player till there ain't no bread in the bread box.....and then some...it is to bad but it was his time for his reward to be sure. God Bless Jerry Garcia!
apples and oranges......comparing dead versus JGB....besides, Brent had just passed and Vinny was just coming into his own....JGB didn't have that turbulance
@TCMooresrq dude I have old cassette bootlegs...they kick ass...no they aren't HD...but the energy has been preservrd for at least now of course...blows me away!...I miss Jerry right frikken NOW!\
Yes, I have one. I remember feeling somber because my ticket read "Bill Graham Presents...." and Graham had been killed only a few weeks before this show. Also I was a little somber because it was the first time I had seen Blues Traveler since I used to see them at my neighborhood bar (Nightingale on Second Ave and 13th Street) where I grew up in Manhattan only a couple years earlier. So it was definitely a wistful feeling of change and moving on. But the music was incredible.
@JoshDone I used to play there in the mid nineties w/ the band S.L.A.P. We used to share bills w/ Cherokee Sex Workshop and X25....I know it's still there and it's still called Nightingale, but not sure if you've been there since it changed owners, but holy hell is it different!
i was at this show! blues traveler opened up , it was a feild trip for the band i used to play in, we were trippin our faces off! our new drummer was never the same
Was at this show and it was great. Heard people saying on the way out that it was better than the Dead at that time. Blues traveller opened. Am amazing version of Shining Star was played at this showas well.
I have always been a fan of the Dead, but saw very few shows -- just a couple, though one was with Branford Marsalis in L.A. (1993) and it was fantastic. Saw JGB in Chula Vista in 1992 and at UCLA in (I think) 1993...and I have to say I liked seeing JGB better. Had more fun. But both were great. Different, but great. I loved Jerry's backup singers, Melvin Seals on keyboards. So down to earth. So much with so little. Fantastic sound.
one of my favorites!!!!

The audio works for me. And as JGB's modern band goes, late 1991 was just smoking tight.
