Terrible numbers.. but far lower than A) would have been killed had Saddam Hussein and the Taliban remained in power and B) numbers that do not take into account the emancipation of nearly 50 million people.

All the world's major intelligence agencies agreed with US/UK intelligence that Saddam Hussein possessed WMDs- this was not just a US/UK mistake. Plus - the Duelfer/Kay reports both found that Saddam could have reconstituted his weapons programs at v. short notice. He retained the technical knowledge to do so.

All the world's major intelligence agencies agreed with US/UK intelligence that Saddam Hussein possessed WMDs- this was not just a US/UK mistake. Plus - the Duelfer/Kay reports both found that Saddam could have reconstituted his weapons programs at v. short notice. He retained the technical knowledge to do so.

The fact of the matter is, if taken into account the average annual mortality rate in Iraq & Afghanistan, over the last decade there has been at least 500 - 600 thousand more deaths than usual. The number quoted by armed forces is just the identified bodies that have been shot or bombed, usually they don't even bother identifying civilians killed.BTW, the reason why AL Qaeda is strong is because of Iraqi/Afghans population support.
