  • great!!!!!

  • HO yehaaa

  • When I see this version of the song, I realize the clear difference between this one and the original recording: the ENTIRE BAND seems more involved in this version whereas the original seems like it's just David Byrne, especially in the music video.

  • AmAzInG SoNg

  • david byrne is a friggin poet

  • so amazing

  • real class!

  • This is one of the best recordings of this song, no joke.

  • Well, How did I get Here??????????

  • I play this video for my grandson & have all Davids moves down! Cracks him up, now he's doing them! 5 yrs. old!

  • Now i know where the guy from Cage The Elephant got his moves 1:59. lol

  • Here David Byrne looks like Louis, from Revenge of the nerds :P Love that movie:P

In that movie i met : Burning down the house, which made me listen from TH :D

  • Fantastic group, just brilliant music

  • WHERE IS THAT LARGE AUTOMOBILE?

  • HOW DO I WORK THIS?

  • Still amazing great song!

  • Amazing song. :)

  • TIME ISN'T AFTER US!

  • My art teacher in Junior High School introduced me to the Talking Heads' music. I was amazed by the sound back then.

  • Awesome.....saw them open for the Police.....years ago brilliant....

  • Wow, that's quite a combo, considering The Police was a great band.

  • O yea pray to the lord!!!!!

  • my life.........

  • David Byrne is pure awesome.

  • you are all so sweet

  • you look stupit

  • MY GOD.. WHAT HAVE I DONE!??!?!

  • THIS SONG IS BADASS

  • Where does that High Way lead too!!! My guess is to that beautiful wife!!!

  • the epitome of kool!

  • Youtube, Facebook, RAM, CPU, Kbps, format, vista, windows 7, Linux, Ipod, 3G, 4G

    HOW DID I GET HERE?

  • dunno if i think its better than the studio version but having heard the studio version a million times i love this, really stripped down and tight, the intro is brilliant, must've been immense to be there!.

  • Anymore footage from THIS concert :)

  • crap I hate it when youtube only has live version of songs or worse, doesn't have any of a persons songs at all

  • ?? this is better than the recorded version. Don't worry about it.

  • i agree, k2! there are times when the studio versions just hit the spot a little better than a live or cover version! Hold your position on that attitude, man! i'm with ya!

  • How friggin cool can one guy be!!!!! Once in a life time.....

  • hes jizzing in his pants in the beginning

  • that's hysterical ... he'd prolly say "ya, I was!"

  • awesome awesome awesome. Same as it ever was

  • haha looks like he was having a fit at the start

  • This not my beautiful wife. Classic line

  • jesus h christ--this guy takes creative use of drugs to an all time new level--did you catch the black guy on strat getting on board with david's insanity? one would have to ask one's self--how can i ever follow this captured dream sequnce? and of course the answer is--one couldn't--thanks for baring your soul david

  • what kind of drugs did they use?

  • haha, coolest dance ever.

  • I just love the theatrics of David, it's a real show he's putting on :)

    Love it!

  • He is really entertaining!

  • lol he was wearing a cardigan?

    thats david alright

  • i love the original video

  • My all time favourite Talking Heads song. It has a curious almost gospel feel in the choruses. I guess you could call this blue-eyed secular gospel - just brilliant.

  • geez-us!, write to all of your congressfolk! It was 1983 when I saw Stop Making Sense @ the New Orleans Municipal Center

  • I love it.

  • What a performer, I think it's between David and Fredie Mercury for best ever performer. However it's all a question of personal taste Mr Byrne does it for me.I would also like to comment on these celebrities who go around saying how "Tough" life is for them. They are a pack of whingeing shitheads.Robbie Williams is at the top in this regard.Where a man like David Bryne took his fame like it was just part of the Job.Which of course it is.I am sick of the Rehabs and the public crying from them.

  • preach it brother.

  • Remain In Light is one of the finest albums EVER. This song is so crazily awesome everyone should know about it. Everyone.

  • their best

  • david byrne has incredible stage presence.

  • I did'nt like them before someone dragged by the to see it

  • Bernie Worrel on keys/synth

  • i saw him with c2b3, hes awesome

  • This is my favorite song with " Under Pressure" By Queen that and this rock are so fucking awesome

  • I just wish I had the energy that David Byrne had. Truly, this guy should be crowned the Prince of New Wave with Sting being the King!

  • this has become one of my favorite songs. It's just so addicting

  • Love it!

  • What a strange, incredible song.

  • Have I said that I love David Byrne?

  • absolutely incredible... thats all there is to it

  • Yeah man 2:00 I LOVE IT.

  • truly a great performance, its hard to come across a song that strikes you so deeply

  • At times, I find David Byrne's vocals almost indistinguishable from Adrian Belew

  • I feel this band should not have ended the way they did after all the success they've had and the innovation they're responsible for new wave music. They were too good to just hate each other for the direction of their music. David Byrne's a genius, Chris Frantz is an underrated drummer, Jerry Harrison is a great musician on both guitar and keyboards as well as a successful producer, and who can forget the hottie on bass in Tina! Truly amazing and unique, in a good way of course!

  • you just answered your own question, they are all incredibly radical.

  • Coolest old dude ever omg

I love that old spazz <3

  • this guy is a goofy fuck but i love him i watched stop making sence and i went and got a copy the next day cuz this gets stuck in your head!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • i like nerds and that

    no joke

  • David Byrne is a Fucking Legend

  • David Bryne the Mad Genius! The Talking Heads were simply a groundbreaking band that refused to follow others......... and THAT my friends is how we move forward in music! AWESOME PERFORMANCE!

  • I forgot that having pretend seizures was dancing...*noted*

  • I remeber, i was about 12 years old as i listened the first time to ´remain in light´! Thank you David...

    Thank you Talking Heads!

    Marc aus Lünen (germany)!

  • I was a senior in college when they did this tour and I was lucky enough to see them live. They were one of the most unique groups of the 80's and put on a great show. Many years later I saw the Tom Tom Club which was no where near as good.

If you have never seen this entire concert film you have to watch from start to finish.

  • I don't like what that Jay-Z did to this beat

  • I love David Byrne

  • I loved Talking Heads and David Byrne when I was younger. These songs are still great.

  • So is it true that David Byrne got the short straw on who was going to do the lead singing for the Talkining Heads?

  • bueno yo no se ingles amigo pero solo te digo gracias por subir video es muy lindo gracias

  • The film was directed by Jonathan Demme who would go on to win an Oscar for directing Silence of the Lambs

The cinematographer also shot Blade Runner.

And keep in mind when most concert films have rapid fire editing, this doesn't cut until 4:54 into the performance.

That's called confidence in the performance and the visuals

Great song. Great performance. Great movie

  • He is not on drugs , he is born like this ! ;)

  • Tina must be one of the most under-rated bassists in pop.

  • The Talking Heads and King Crimson are too legit to quit.

  • brilliant.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL, no he's just ultra creative, and doesn't feel constrained like most people.

  • I'm sure he did an acid trip or two... ;)

  • It's called being creative

  • No drugs! That's the real David!!!!!!

  • lol. Now that I think of it, listening to the rhythm and style of the music, how can you blame David Bryne for performing that way? To be honest, I can't help but do it a little myself when I listen to it.

Just recently I showed this video to my mother and she couldn't stop laughing. I think I caught it from her!!!

  • lol this guy i most likly on a grug lawl

  • If only I could dance like that...

  • Civilization jumped the shark at 4:21

  • Una mas y otra y otra y otra y un dia te quedas mudo

    La salida , vemos

Cerraste bien la puerta , ??

  • Can you guys believe in a few days this song will be 29 years old? (movie slightly newer) but dayum!

  • one sunday the observer newspaper gave the film away as a free dvd.

  • George McFly on meth, lol.

    Great track 5*

  • A mesmerising perfromance by the band and in particular David Byrne!

  • Something a bit spiritual about this song. great track as well.. Sugar Bear...

  • i love this song so much the talking heads are sooo amazing everytime im playing rock band with my friends i do psycho killer hahah its my song

  • It's a shame that they couldn't agree on what they should be as a group; otherwise, they'd still be together today! David Byrne may be a genius, but I felt the true heart of the group were Chris and Tina, because they had the smarts, writing most of the lyrics for their earlier stuff, which started their run to success!

  • idk

  • Woww!! Don't you all love David Byrne??

  • Any more footage from this concert? That was bloody brilliant!

  • footage? this is an entire damn movie, directed by demme, one of the best concert films ever. please watch

  • Yeah the film is without doubt a masterpiece, a truly original piece of art. The genius of it still overwhelms me even today.

  • hi, my teacher let us listen to this song in class. It was AWESOME LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! MY FAV SONG E-V-E-R!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shaman david moves and convulses those demopns out of his body better than a pentacostal revival...

David is the sexiest man alive!...love those V8 moves SAME AS IT EVER WAS!

  • finer words were never spoke..

when everyone 7 years ago was riding high

    today

    same as it ever was

    great song!!!!

  • Fucking incredible!!

  • Love it!!!!!

  • My favorite!!!!

  • David Byrne......Born in dumbarton scotland!

  • He is the best at what he does! I have just gained a new appreciation of this man and his music! I am adding him to my list of heroes to look up to!

  • 2:00 the coke kicks in ...Hey!! its George McFly

  • im a huge buckethead fan and weird funk guy and uh....ive heard the talking heads before on the radio and shrugged them off as "dad music" or something. but ive listened to this and burning down the house non stop for about a week now

  • check out Life During Wartime.

  • This is so copied from the British band A Certain Ratio. Just more white soul.....ish. Plagerism a go-go.

  • who is " a certain ratio"?

  • A British band from Manchester around about 1978- Check them out on youtube particularly their videos 'Do the Du', 'Knife slits Water', 'The Fox', particularly 'Shack Up' all total classics. Welcome to your new favourite band.

  • What a great performance!!! Awesome Talking Heads : )

  • A philosophical coup.

  • Do you know......if didn,t know better, I,d think he was off his head LOL!! wicked post. MP-UK

  • this song is a spiritual mantra, much like louis armstrong's what a wonderful world. I think some of you missed that and I hope you realize it before you are gone and share it with others.

  • very true, heard lois armstrongs all the time in the world on the radio today and i stopped to listen.

  • How can YouTube not have the official video?

  • I hear what your,e saying there. I,ve been looking, it,s not around mate, but let me know if you get a hold of it, vice versa. MP-UK

  • Live version kicks ass, but the one thing I noticed about this video is that the bass player, Tina, isn't present throughout. Does anybody know why? Other than that, David Byrne and Co are taking names!

  • I love the way he looks at his hand, and says "you may ask yourself, how do I work this?" at 1:10. Acid inspired perhaps, but still a relevant question that science hasn't answered. (We only understand about 1% of the human brain)

  • Anywhere that sells music DVD's should have it

  • His dance moves are incredible.

  • Just search for "Stop Making Sense" on Amazon, it will be there

  • Awesome song!

  • hahaa amazing ! this man is so charismatic , I am 20 years old and I discovered this band five days ago I listen theirs songs without interruptions

  • man! i love this band! they are totally kicking ass and taking names!

  • this is the concert in Narara in 1984...

  • this guy kicks ass

  • wow.. i took it as a great pop record ...if you are young enough without analysing what the fk its all about .... you might enjoy the sound and record....

  • Classic!

  • This reminds me of when I saw them at Narara in 1984. Same show, just white lights, no colours except for the backdrop! Classic performance. The band built up one by one with each new song till they were all on stage. One of the best concerts I've seen!

  • I would have loved to have seen that! That's art :)

He was! the band (referring to another comment) no need for a reunion I like them as they were.

  • I know that David Byrne's a very talented and underrated frontman, but if he wasn't such an egomaniac and making the band all about what he wanted, then Talking Heads would've reunited and would be together today.

  • Erm, all of the members contributed. David was the frontman, and by far the most charismatic, but Jerry had a lot of say, and Tina and Chris cowrote most of the stuff from the first several albums. And The Heads would never reuinte, regardless of the egos of the members. They simply didn't have compatible artistic visions; there's nothing at all wrong with that.

  • Don't forget Brian Eno!!

  • Opps he does harry Carry at 2:24

  • He does Harry Carry at 2:16

  • he is possessed

  • This video is very nihilistic and means that life goes on, we'll all live our lives and die then somoene else will come replace us and it will all be the samething all over again. Times change but problems and people don't. It's all water flowing underground...

  • Hi Vegetarian-Atheist. Very well stated! When I first heard this song I thought of the biblical passage Ecclesiastes 1:9-14(There's nothing is new under the sun. Same as it ever was...). Whether one is theistic or atheistic most people encounter an existential crisis like this. Mr. Byrne says it so well. Tom in CA

  • we are and yet might never be again. this song is about that miracle lest we forget it. our mortality is envied by the gods.

  • Great comments tasha122277.

I've seen the Heads live 3 times, David Byrne is the most intense and interesting performer I've ever seen.

I think the point of this song is that there should be a greater urgency to our lives

and to view our existence as transient.

Mark Twain once said something along the lines of 'I am not an inhabitant, I'm a sojourner'.

  • i think what you are seeing here is the song of the universe being expressed throught the conduit known as david.

  • Lenarita1... I'm not the only one who sees it!

  • great tune great clip

  • a-mazing

  • GREAT Direction by Jonathan Demme.

  • K, be honest. At two minutes... does he like start seizing on stage?

  • Absolutely...CLASSIC!!!!

  • this song is brilliant

  • wasn't this song the theme for Numb3rs?

  • this is textbook music that will mean something "later"... i wish it was in elementary schools... even tho they wouldnt understand... i wish i would have listened...

  • My interpretation after listening to this song 1 million times is - The meaning of this song is people go through life and the daily motions and that is what makes us old. Enjoy the here and now before the days go by. Don't let the water or

the pressure of mundane daily routines hold you

down. Same as it ever was resembles the routine people are in or what some would call a comfort zone. They let the days go by without

realizing that you are here to get the most out of life.

    IMHO
