Rhetorical question - How did they know about what car you had? (supposedly know) - I think it is wrong to spy on people through the products that they buy.
@IBMeddling Undoubtedly just data mining. The company they hired probably just looked at the public motor vehicle records (they can be searched by address, and I'm sure Florida cheerfully hands that information out, even to businesses), found my address, and grabbed my car registration info.
You're right. It's scummy and wrong to do. But they do it anyway.
