south africa has 11 languages actually. English is spoken as a first language by aroud 10% or the population. Most whites speak 'Afrikaans' which is very similar to Dutch. But almost most whites can speak at least some English. Biggest language is a black language called XHOSA followed by another black language called 'ZULU'.
