Wow, seeing the film of Lisa Stevens (& her team) going over to China many years ago, to bring 2 pandas (Tai's parents?) to the National Zoo, when she was much younger... and now, to see a baby panda born here and is now fully grown, to be flying back to China... and seeing Lisa Stevens with graying hair... it must have been very difficult for her, who spent much of her adult life taking care of & treasuring these incredibly majestic animals, to be separated from Tai like that...
Ooooo Aw well he is screwed. And to cover myself from all of the people that will get onto me is that the survival rate of any born animal in captivity has a survival of 3% of being introduced into the wild. On a personal note those three women he is not a national animal it is a chineese natural animal. If sombody says they didnt say that it is 52 secs in. It is just an animal.
@BSUCopWars Tai Shan is not being released into the wild. she says "I just think he is like our national treasure"
She FEELS, we feel, thousands around the world feel he is a national treasure, a treasure in our hearts, Tai Shan is the FIRST giant panda cub to survive in US, he will always be in our hearts. He is personally known and loved by thousands who have been to see him. many are there daily! of his whole life! we love him very much, NO animal is just an animal, leastly Tai Shan!
@BSUCopWars OH I was wrong, it is MILLIONS that have visited Tai Shan, and a MILION watch him on the panda cam each month. Tai Shan and his parents Mei Sheng and Tian Tian have 2 web cams, they run 24/7 hrs .
I am very happy for Tai Shan. He is finally being released into his true habitat to go live. I feel bad for everyone who is going to miss him. We've held him in captivity for our own amusement. Pitiful....
Seeing how American people adore Tai Shan, I am really sorry that we have to take him back to China. Why we have to take him back anyway? Just because it was loan? well we granted a two-year extension why can't we grant another two years? I feel sad for the Tai Shan fans in US
The video started playing, I saw the panda's face, then I skipped farther in, and I saw Steve Monfort's face, and I didn't notice a difference for a good amount of time.
