Except that in the last 20 years the amount of people employed by the coal companies went from 150 thousand to 15 thousand. That's a 90% cut in work force. Now, I would be a supporter of coal companies if they would employ enough workers and if they would let those workers organize. Instead, they bust unions and leave hundreds of thousands of people out of work and hundreds of thousands if not millions more in the way of dangerous coal dust, all the while polluting air and water. Down with coal.
Why dont they comprimise and let the people that own the coal factories own the same factorys after they are switched to the other source and let them take that over. If it stays a peacfull protest you shouldnt have to worry about being arrested its a constitutional right i think something like that. Good luck lookin foward to see the video of after it happens.
wmds werent real but yet congress voted to go into a war that is costly and taking lives. The move to stop global warming is a effort to keep us and the animals that inhabit this planet alive. Please post links to back up your claims.
Is that the Academies of Science in all major countries, including the US, say its real and an urgent?? Oh, I forgot NASA's Goddard Institute, the US EPS, etc, etc, etc, etc. You are the one that being suckered by the fossil energy mega-companies.
These young people give me hope for the future of our country and the world. What good will a thriving economy do us when we're choking on our own waste?
it's good that these college students have a passion and are concerned about the environment as all of us are these days
however i think that at times Clichés and organisations devoted to these inportant matters sometimes converge into a type of fundementalism and/or fanatism mentality where there is little or no room for open dialog between the two areas of concern and little is done in the long run.
will have to invest into, which may not pan out. Investors want to make sure they get a nice marginal return.... If you tell them the new technology might not work, you can kiss the investment good bye. It would be nice if they invested because they loved the Earth and blah blah blah, but it is business to them. Taking a loss is not good business. There are just so many complexities to this, but what I posted above is just one of the first many steps to solving it.
It will take the governments of states that have large coal industires making laws allowing new industry to move in. It will then take the movement of the companies in the free market to begin the ground work. Once that infustructure has been established, then the government along with the free market can start to wing the country off coal. That is the only way we can get off use of coal. But there are still problems like, where do we turn to for energy, overseas countires, new sources investors
We cannot just completely ban the use of coal or start heavily taxing it. There is a sub economy that relies on the business that coal produces. The way to solve it is not an easy or short process. What has to be done is jobs supported by coal need to be replaced by other industires. Once the new jobs are in place for the local economies, then government can get involved and start crippline the use of coal.
It is a lie being used by the illuminati to form a one world government and destroy the soverignity of the united States. To implement carbon taxes and tax the already taxed to death American people. If you want to do something about it, then turn off all you lights and live in a dug out, be a part of the free market and refuse to use the electricity that coal provides
"Clean" coal is not the answer and It sucks Obama is for it. You say its a lie, but where's your evidence to back it up? All you gave me was a silly conspiracy theory for which there is no evidence.
then you as an individual have the opportunity to boycott and not use any products provided by coal. That is your choice, however you can't force your choice on someone else. We need to throw out and impeach those in our government that are trampling on our origianl organic Constitution. Perhaps under contract law you could sue the coal industry for damages, however we don't need anymore government regulations
Dude, I agree w/ you on some of that. I try to reduce my ecological footprint. I think we need government regulations because without them corporations will go nuts. Corporations like this don't care what they destroy to malke a profit and without regulation they will run amok. Just look at the financial crisis we're in now; deregulation is part of the reason we are in this mess in the first place. I dont see the paralell between requlations and trampling on the constitution.
exactly, don't have government regulate them, have the public regulate them by not buying their products. You can regulate them by up holding the Constitution. These corporations are not being deregulated as it may appear. If they were not being bailed out by government they would fail on their own. Government needs to stay out and let them fail through free market. Like the ethenol failure, which it is failing on it's own, but it would have failed a lot faster without government hand outs.
Okay, but UNFORTUNATELY those institutions are entrenched in our financial system. Without gov. intervention we would be thrown into a depression we may not be able to climb back out of. I don't think you can rely on the citizenry to boycott and do the policing of bad institutions because these corporations have billions of dollars at their disposal to fund ad campains propaganda to brainwash us into supporting them. I mean, just look at pop culture today.
You can't regulate these corporations. They will just pass down the burdens to the american people in taxes and higher prices. They need to be put out of business by not having government prop them up with subsidies etc. Check out the alex jones channel, destroying the secret government behind the puppet government will help humans and the environment
Explain to me how many pages of the IPCC report on climate change are dedicated to positive feedback mechanisms in the climate due to increased CO2......your a fag BTW and your dick is small
Have you read, do you understand the founding documents of this Republic, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independance as well as you know Al Gores lies.
First off, yes I have. Why are you so quick to dismiss human-induced global warming as a lie? Those are not Al Gore's "lies" he only presented the work of thousands of those in the scientific community who are in overwhelming consensus on this subject. To dismiss these as lies is willful ignorance and flies in the face of a preponserance of evidence to the contrary. Once again, tell me WHY you think global warming is a lie and how does regulation on corporations trample the constitution?
Wasn't James Hanson just called out by his boss at NASA for being full of shit and saying his climate models are useless and that's why there has been no positive climate anomalies in the last 11 years even though Hanson predicted there would be increased warming
