I have a 91 S10. Got it from my dad who got it new. Holes in the body, lotta rust, had to replace rear end and dash light. Has some minor problems but none that I can't fix. I absolutly love this truck. 187,000 miles. And the only thing I had to replace is the rear end. Good truck. It'll last you for years.
Hey check out my video of my s10. It was my little high school project. I put a small loweing kit on it and some other things as well. Nothing to fancy, just something I enjoyed learning on!
Im the second owner of my 93 S10 and it had the 2.8V6 but it has 401,000 miles on it... not original motor but it has the original trans and rearend in it... the rebuilt motor has about 90,000 on it.... I rebuilt it my self... im gonna keep it and drive it til it falls apart!!!
I have a 91 s-10...it won't die. My aunt bought it new and it took her through college. I bought it from her in 2001 and it took me through college. Now it drives back and forth from Alabama to Atlanta everyday. 273,000 miles. everything but the water pump, clutch, fuel filter, and oil filter. is original. S-10 trucks don't die. Roaches will drive them after the nuclear apocalypse.
@Pepsifx357 my brother had a 91 with the 2.8 5 speed. had just over 202,000 when bought. was one reliable truck, finally at 293,000 miles he decided to junk it, the floorboard and cab mounts were gone and also the bed. I would of fixed it for him, but not worth it. only had to replace the alternator and water pump, well and a radiator, hood, core support, grille and fan shrouds cause he hit a deer at 65 mph. was one good truck, sold the motor and trans for 200 bucks, still ran perfect
@92sonoma Tis a shame. I'm running up on 290k myself. She has her bad days every now and then, but on the good days, it feels like someone stuck a larger motor in there. It's really weird, but the clutch will grip better and it keeps up with cars that it probably shouldn't at it's age. lol Very fun though! It kept up with a '01 2500HD at a red light. We were just playin' around, but the little truck wanted to go! I do feed her the GOOD gas though.
@Pepsifx357 Ya I like the old boxy style s10's and s15's 82-93. The 2.8 was a really good motor. I know what u mean about the power of them. He couldnt keep tires on his lol, it kept up with my 92 sonoma with the 4.3 up until about 80mph. I couldnt hardly believe it. I got a 90 s15 4.3 v6 4x4 now that ive had since 03. put a bed, fender, and replaced the cab corners and rocker pannels because of rust. Just turned over 208,000 and runs great. I have like $1500 in it counting buying it
@92sonoma Awesome! Cheap and LONG lasting. When I lived in Florida(Rains a helluva lot), I kept running into the problem of street tires, on level pavement, in the rain, plus lead foot equals... My back end kept sliding off to the right on takeoff because the weight couldn't keep up with the accidental torque. I had them put mud grip tires on it and that fixed my problem; Of all things. lol 285000 now still tickin'.
@Pepsifx357 thats awesome, love these lil trucks, they go forever. prob never sell my 90 4x4 s 15. never could get it stuck. has the 4.3 engine with over 208,000 miles now but i did have the transmission rebuilt by a transmission specialist that i know for $100 bucks 3 years ago and 6,000 miles ago. cost a total of about $500 bucks. i bought a heavy duty rebuild kit and a 1650 stall torque converter. it also has a stock 3;42 locking differential. this truck will move lol, pretty quick
@Heyyitssme to bad the profit all goes overseas, you kind of people just don't get it do you. American companies hire Americans and the profit they make gets put back into the country so its double win .
I HAVE A BIG QUESTION MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW BROKE AND I CANT FIND A WINDOW TO REPLACE IT CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME A SITE WHERE I CANT FIND ONE MY TRUCK IS A 1991 CHEVY S10
@mancilla903 Google "LMC Truck" ...you can order a free catalog or order online. I get their catalog every 6 months...they have EVERY single part to an S10 you could ever need...ever. I would post the address here but youtube blocks it. They have incredibly fast shipping as well. I ordered bed bolts from them and they arrived in 3 days!
I had one of these with the 4.3 v6 - had over 180,000 miles - piece of crap truck! But I sometimes wish I would have kept it instead of getting my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It looked like crap but that thing could run!
@irarawkstarr. I'll put money on this that it's a 2.8. Alternator was on the other side for the 4.3 and the intake was different, though maybe yours is different than the many I have seen. But a 5speed with the 4.3 was rare. I found one for $900 with a 4.3,5speed 4x4, 190k, and the only major rust was over the rear wheel wells. came with cap too. If I hadn't spend $400 fixing the one I picked up, I'd a bought it.
Absolutely a 2.8. I know these trucks well. You can tell by not only the accessories, but by the style of the valve covers and the tensioner pulley. Still a very nice survivor truck. I personally prefer the 2.8 over the 4.3 especially in the 1st generation because they are far smoother.
My dad had a 1983 s-10 that was my favorite vehicle of ALL TIME!! It had a 4 speed manual not sure how big the engine was but I know it was a v6 and it wasn't very fast but it ran so perfect and it started right up sitting for 5 years and it had 500,000 miles or so on it. My dumba** dad gave it to his friend then he gave it to the scrap yard and it was crushed. R.I.P Little buddy.
That is a pretty rare truck you found. Haven't seen any regular cab S-10 pickups with bucket seats and a center console in that good of shape except for the GMC cyclone. Very nice looking truck. Would have love to own that one.
this is a very nice truck. Also I'm pretty sure people can talk that price down. The asking price for my '99 Concorde was around $4950 and I paid $3500 for it.
Awesome video dude... I love the old trucks that you do. This is actually the truck that I want to get for my first car. I think they usually get about 18-20 mpg. What do you think?
Truck has a fubared ignition tumbler. You can turn the tumbler without the key in the ignition because it wont come back and lock all the way. Kyle did the AC work?
@yanni6556 i know, and many people thought that there vehicle drank a lot of gas because the gauge would have to move so much to give a accurate reading, when really, it's just that the gauge is to damn big
Wow a 1991 that has roughly the same mileage as mine! Reminds me ALOT of my baja, identical, except mine is a 4x4, and mine does not have AC :( Oh hey, my vid of my baja is to the right!! hehe
