@simKearney I'm not sure, haven't tried Premiere CS5 yet. It may be a plugin that is sold separately. I wouldn't put it past Adobe to take this effect out and charge more for it through their plug-in download center or offer it through a third party.
I tried this, and the effect worked just fine and everything looked nice in the "sequence1"-monitor, but when i exported it I got lines of the background picture over and under the video.
It seems that the video got the size of the picture and the video was put on top.. Why?
so if let's say you have more background colors aside from green, does that mean i just have to keep on adding the same effects over and over again then just change the color?
this is as cool! but for simple thingys you can open a gif editor add transparency for your gif/video and save as gif, then open in adobe premirre pro sc3 importt your gif put into video 2 and no need for efects. presto,i said.
@fgcarva1 Could be the video quality, or just play with the settings until everything works. The color you choose for your chroma key may not be an average color.
Thank you so much! This really helped me out a lot! I'm new to Adobe CS3, and wasn't really sure how do much in Premiere Pro. However, your video really showed me a lot, including how to use Chroma Key. Thanks again!
It is necessary to have equal light. You want the lighting to be as flat as possible, you can add dramatic lighting later if necessary.
Make sure your light isn't too bright, and your subjects aren't too close to the screen, or you'll have bounce back. The reflective light on the actor will be green, and the effect will take that light out as well.
After Effects has a great chroma key filter called Keylight, It's much more advanced than Premiere effects, that my help you out if needed.
There are many options to the chroma key filter, but the effect is limited to only one basic hue. Make sure your lighting is flat, or you'll need to do some clone stamping in After Effects. it works, but is really time consuming.
what if you dont have chroma key?? all i seee in mine is color key and diffrence matte

when i click EFFECT CONTROL the pannel that appears covers the video preview, so i can't pick the green colour...
How can i show the preview and the effect control pannels both?

Well, I learned this in video editing class in school, but whenever I try this, there are these little black squares...

is it necessary to have an equal light?
what if the lighting wasn't that good? how are you going to adjust the chroma key?
