I've seen people cleaning atomisers with coke, vodka, boiling them in water for 5 mins etc. Surely, as an electrical component, that's not right is it??

hi mate,

it is an electrical component, however, its basically just a single thin wire (heating coil) and 2 metal contacts........no resistors, capacitors etc etc or anything that can be damaged by fluid.

the idea of boiling, soaking in cola etc is to try and remove any build up of gunk that is covering the heating coil thus preventing it from heating up correctly.......but personally i think all those cleaning methods are a waste of time and do more damage than good! lol

hi mate,

i personally much prefer manual batteries as they perform a lot better by giving you a more consistent inhale. also, manual batteries are sealed so there is no chance of e-liquid getting inside the battery and causing problems :)

I have a quick question, maybe you could help me with. I find that when I refill the carts that came with my 901 they tend to leak whilst I'm taking a draw. Out of the 5 pre-filled carts that came with my e-cig, only 1 of them doesn't leak. I got it from TW.co.uk. Is it possible that i got a bad batch of carts or should I not be re-filling, the pre-filled carts? Maybe I have been over filling?

hi mate,

unfortunately 901 carts are prone to leaking fluid unless you inhale fairly lightly. when i use a 901 i actually fit 510 cartridges which also fit..........the 510 carts are round rather than flat and i find they are far better with a lot less chance of leaking :)

try and purchase some 510 carts.........far better :)

hi, how would you know that you already have to replace the wool your cart? Or you just have to clean and reuse it over and over...can i use water to wash it.. do you still use your DSE901? i just bought mine and im a newby. =) maybe some more tips for caring for the atomizer?

hi mate,

i tend to clean the wool each time i refill the cart............especially if im switching to a new flavour.

as shown in the vid, just rinse the wool under a cold tap until it goes completely white, then pat it dry with paper towel :)

there is very little to do to care for the atomiser. just drain it like in the vid once a week or every time you find the draw to get a little tough. dont bother with boiling atomisers etc.........its a waste of time and makes no difference.

each cartridge is about the equivalent of around 4 - 5 cigarettes. as soon as the vapour starts to fade or you notice that the flavour has vanished then that would be the time to change the cart.

I got my dse 901!! its great I love it ..has a nice throat hit and amazing vapor production the only thing that bothers mequite a bit is all the warnings about the nicotine it says inhalation can be harmful wtf? isnt that the point? or does it mean direct inhalation of raw nicotine without vaporization? im confused? help?anyways im going to order some e juice without the nicotine..other then that the dse 901 is worth every penny ..

id be surprised if it was possible as an e-cig works by vaporising a fluid via the heat from the atomiser. an oil would not vaporise.........it would just become a hot sticky mess! lol

no mate, adding water is not possible and it needs to be e-liquid that contains either propylene glycol or glycerine.

1. wash and rinse the wool every time you refill the cart. if just topping up, then clean every now and again.

2. nicotine comes from the e-liquid

3. throat comes from the e-liquid and the e-cig really. for a stronger / harsher throat hit use a higher nicotine content e-liquid

Little tip I have for getting more vapour when using carts is to add a couple of drops of VG (Vegetable Glycerol) in the bottom the cart before you put your cartridge filler in. Then put your flavoured e-liquid in till it's almost full. Then add the cartridge filler back in, and top up with your flavour.

Also if you have drained your atomiser, you may want to add 1 or 2 drops of VG as well as 2 drops of the flavoured liquid that matches the flavour used in the cartridge filler.

Hey Scott, I just got my 2nd ECIG & its a 901... For some reason using a Cartridge is giving inconsistent hits. Sometimes a decent hit & sometimes barely anything, then sometimes nothing.... When I drip tho its lovely. My question is once I drip 1-2 drops in the atomizer, should I immediatley use it up or can it remain for a later use ?

I would guess that, if you can extract the THC from your bud, you should be able to spike some e-liquid with it. I've seen some YouTube vids about making hash using butane. Give that a try I'm sure it'd work.

You were talking about flooding the atomizer by dripping directly onto it. Is there any risk of permanently damaging the atomizer by flooding it? I don't have this exact model of e-cig, but I noticed that mine suddenly stopped functioning after about 2 days. After inspecting the atomizer, I found it was quite saturated with liquid. After soaking in peroxide, then alcohol, it still doesn't function. Any ideas or suggestions that don't involve buying another atomizer would be appreciated.

no, a flooded atomiser shouldnt cause permanent damage. i dont use any cleaning solutions such as alcohol etc.......i just drain them once a week or any time the drag gets a little tough.

is your atomiser getting warm? if it gets warm its working........if it stays cold then its knackered mate.

for a bigger kick, try a higher mg nicotine strength. i find that the higher the nicotine content is, the higher the throat hit.

flavour wise, i find the virginia and camel flavours to be pretty strong in tobacco taste.

I just tried dripping with my classic penstyle, I dripped 3 drops on the atomizer, I got a drag that was more harsh then normal, I like it like that, but I didnt get too much vapor and it scared me that I was going to burn my atomizer and damage it. it should be fine. just take some nice long controlled drags and you should get plenty of vapour. dont add too many drops or you will flood it. just vape until vapour starts to really fade and then add a couple more.

i would always recommend buying juice and refilling your own carts as its so much more cost effective. juice i find also produces a bit more vapour than standard carts.

plus, soooooo many flavours to choose from!

Very helpful. Most of these procedures will also work on the Super Mini RN4081, though the cartridge is much much smaller so adjust your drops accordingly. Man, the pads in your cartridges look huge compared to mine. I followed your link over from the cigforum, nice work!

yep, you can use the wool over and over just like in the vid. nope, no need to buy more carts (though the wool over tme will eventually need replacing). if you have liquids then you can just refill your own cart rather than buying more! putting juice directly on to the atomiser is called "direct dripping" and it gives slightly more vapour and throat hit. it only lasts for about 15 drags though before you notice vapour starts to fade. hope that helps!

the liquid is flavoured liquid nicotine and there are tons of flavours available. its the same stuff that is in the carts but its miles cheaper to refill your carts with juice than buy more carts. 1 cart = about SIX cigarettes! seller is telling fibs!! $33 for 5 carts is way too much! you can buy a bottle of juice for less and it will give you about 200 cigarettes worth of vaping! put 2 drops straight on atomiser or refill, top up carts as shown in the video

hi mate, the dse801 is regarded as a "pen style" e-cig. its bigger than the 901 and doesnt look as nice in my opinion. ive not used one myself but i know quite a few people who are very happy with it! this video would still be quite usefull to you though as the same principles appy to the 801.

ooh, tough question!

well i think there is roughly 0.5ml to a cart and 1 cart holds around 8 drops of juice. therefore in theory 1ml equals 16 drops. 16 multiplied by 30 is 480.

so roughly, a 30ml bottle of juice would have around 480 drops of juice.

going on the basis that 2 drops is the equivelant of one regular cigarette that would mean that a 30ml bottle of juice would give you around 240 cigarettes worth of vaping!

i need a rest now after that! lol
