i wanted to ask- what size and kind of wood did you use to make the beds ? how did you assemble them ? i'm looking to start my own vegetable garden and want to know what to do. i'm in central FL so our growing season can still work. also, for the tomatoes, did you do planters or seeds ?
Thank you so much for doing your videos again this year. I watched all your videos from 09 this past winter.... and I have started my first veggie garden here in Kentucky! Watched and learned from all your videos so Thank you so much!! Im subscribed to your videos now and look foward to seein how it all goes this year.
@HoschtonBoy . Actually not at all it seems. Even with temps in the 50's at night things are really kicking with 70's during the day. I'm actually uploading my next video right now and should be up in an hour or 2. Things have gone crazy. My tomato plants are even bigger. Some of the veggies do grow slower in the cold like my eggplant are not growing as fast because they love the heat, but hey will catch up soon.
@michiganmadmax . Sorry for the frost. We are lucky here in the south to start growing a lot earlier, but I even get jealous of people in south florida that can grow almost all year.
That actually looks nice....better then the upside down garden....well thanks for the video cuz now its got me thinking to a ground garden looks better....so I might go for that
If you have a dehydrator it will be your best friend for your herbs. I dehydrate mine and am able to keep them for months...then of course you can always share.
@TheBrassHole . Haha. It was a fun experiment. And it definitely works, with something better than others. Pretty soon after I put in the raised bed last year I knew that is what I was going to do only this year. Thanks for watching.
@14dollarz It's weird because I grow so many peppers in my garden like you do. People actually have laughed at me because I have so many peppers, and I even called one of my neighbors a fag...
Jason be careful of frost,I live in Hoschton about 10 miles from you and we had frost the same day as you posted the video. Great video, keep 'em coming.
@HoschtonBoy Well too late now with all I have in the ground :). But the last average frost date is pretty much the end of Mar so we should be ok. The 10 day forecast looks to be heating up so not too worried.
Yeah! Glad to see you back at it again this year. Also a little jealous about your space and raised beds. I still have just a little corner to hang pots from in my apt, but I learned from last years black thumb and so far off to a great start. Might document it, who knows. Glad I can look forward to your vids this year! Good luck on it all!
I really like what you've done. I am looking for a house so i can have a little bit of a yard for my garden. I am doing all containers on my apartment balcony for now. Thanks for sharing. ~Jeri

@BalconyGrow. Thanks. Last year around may I knew I wanted something a lot bigger than the containers so I put in the 1 bed. I wanted to do even more last year, but decided to ride the containers out too. And they do great as well. I think the containers do better upright than upside down.
I checked out your videos and they are great. I'll be watching.
Looks like yer off and running there Jason...nice job! I wonder how your tomato plants feel now that there "right side up"! ha ha. I just planted some peas and beans outside here in Rye, NY and can't wait to get past our last frost date (aprox May 15) so I can put more plants in the ground and watch them grow (apparently)! :) Keep up the good work bro! -"Farmer" George
@edbogus. Hey George. You are probably right, the veggies are already quite confused growing straight up. I'm looking forward to your next update. Maybe some of this GA heat will work it's way up north.
The only difference between green and other colored bell peppers is that the green ones are juvenile, and have not yet ripened. The "green" bell peppers, if left long enough, will always turn a different color. If you like green ones, just pick the peppers before they fully ripen. Just thought you might want to know! I LOVE bell peppers! I eat them like apples... =D
Ya I knew they all started as green, but wasn't sure if the ones in the stores labeled "Yellow or Red Bell" were some sort of hybrid that turned color faster. Since I have 3 plants of each we will find out :).
Great video and started watching the one's from last year for the upside down tomato plants... I'm going to try a few, that way and came across the earth buckets or called global buckets and loved the idea, So also will be trying that with a automatic watering system to see if that works.
Please keep up the videos, love watching your progress.
can you tell me how often i should water my plants im growing 3 little tomatoe plants and i dont know how much water and sunlight they need. they arent very big maybe like 1 inch high and i planted them 4 weeks ago please help me...and i love watching your videos! :)
@lol1lady916 . Watering can be a tricky thing because I really can't tell you how much water they need as it is based on how hot it is where you are, how much rain you get, how deep your soil is, ect. But all that being said most websites I found say to water when the soil is dry a few inches below the surface. Do a search on google for "watering vegetables" and you will find more. That is how i learned.
Ya tomatoes and peppers are most of what I like along with a few other things. I may finally try some lettuce in the fall. It is too late for that here I think as it is getting hot.
don't worry jason next year when the rest of the grass is gone and more beds are installed you can dedicate a couple for squash only, and my prediction will be true (ha ha)! everything looks great keep up the great vids.
cuc's sound like they got sunburned from not hardening off (if it happened in 1 day) Glad the strawberries are rocking! mine only have 2 or 3 leaves still...
yesturday we had a rain, electric and snow blizzard all at the same time. weather warnings all over alberta canada. today wind warnings. I am so jelous that you can garden right now. are the plants you have in your garden home growen or did you buy.
That is an amazing rate of growth. I have only just sown seeds so I'm a bit behind but still OK. I was in England last weekend for a few days and was scared to leave a greenhouse full of seedlings in case it was hot here. I needn't have worried, it poured the whole time I was away. But, I was happy not having to worry about the greenhouse frying everything. Video coming soon.
@baconsoda Great to hear you will have some videos soon. We have been lucky with the very warm weather. I guess there will be no spring here in Georgia, but that is ok as the veggies will grow fast.
Great update. In your 1st bed did you consider putting a trellis on the left side and the back and grow your beans, cucumbers and zucchini vertically? They'd get the sun, good air movement and not dominate the ground. Just a thought.
@emt845 Actually I have trellises for all my beds. I took them down when I installed the drip irrigation. My PreGarden 4 vid shows them in there somewhere. So I will definitely be growing the beans and cukes upwards.

@StetsonFrenchie Check out my "How to Make a Raised Bed" video. It explains it all three. For the tomatoes I used planters.

Has this cooler weather had any ill effects on your garden? I covered my peppers last night so as they won't get frostbite with the cool temps.

i suggest a cayenne pepper one plant has lots of peppers, nice size not to hot and really nice looking when they turn red.

Ya mine have some really nice flowers on them now. So we will see how they do. I wanted 1 non-red tomato so we will see how this one does.
