  • Yes, us "yanks"as one post puts it, did you notice the person in the video doesn't speak English? also, if you click on the person who uploaded this clip, they are from Norway! Wow! Maybe you should think before you make a post that everyone has access to. The 430 is a great engine, it was built from 1967 to 1969 then with very slight changes it changed into the 455 in 1970 to 1976. Like to see this car when it is finished.

  • nice car

  • haha i think it needs some super 44's or some descent mufflers i agree with you on that it looks like a project car so ...i know what im thinking us yanks could kick your ass lol

  • sounds like a massive locomotive :D

  • Hmm. Wonder if this pile of junk got traded in during Cash For Clunker? It should have! Maybe it would have sounded a little sweeter with mufflers? Oh, well. It has probably gone to the shredder at this point.

  • @doomdayjudge cash for clunkers you are nuts !! rivieras are nice cars this wouldnt qualify as a clunker only 1984 and up did and nobody in ther right mind would trade an old car in there better than new cars you idiot..

  • @midnitesquirldog Ha - ha! It sure sounds like something straight from the junkyard - and looks that way too. I don't know what it is about you yanks and mufflers? Are you afraid that you actually might hear what you're thinking if not everything around you is LOUD?

Seeing what Hollywood churns out, I can understand why Americans are afraid of their own thoughts

  • What is the mpg on a riviera with a 430 ??

  • Buick V6 into a CJ5 or 7 was a VERY popular swap back in the '70s, especially, since Buick V6s from a junk yard were a dime a dozen and were a big improvement over the Kaiser F-head in terms of torque. The Buick 90° V6 has turned out to be GM's second most long lived engine, the first being the cheap-to-make (and not that good) small block Chevy. The really good (and expensive) GM engines were cut long ago. The Buick nailhead was pretty good, but hell to work on.

  • @DeserTBoB93535 I wouldn't necessarily say that Chevy small bocks are "not that good." I had an '84 Chevy Caprice with a 305 and it ran beautifully. Didn't burn oil, didn't make noise, started up cold, and got the job done. If you're talking horsepower, yes. It's not that good. Even the Edelbrock carb I put on it probably only brought it up to 200 hp. However, it was durable, reliable, and more efficient than a similar era 350 or other larger small-block V8s.

  • @DeserTBoB93535 You just showed your stupidity dude... Not that good? Then why do people put chevy 350's in tons of cars and why do people who build cutom hot rods like them so much?..... You're insulting ALOT of people's oppinions on motors when you say that.. Dumbass....

  • @1991chevy2500 maybe cause theyre cheap to build you idiot

  • Dumbass....idling a fresh engine like that is MURDER on cam lobes, even if you assembly lubed them! Fire it, get it up to 1000 RPM PRONTO! 430 nailhead...whatta pile!

  • @DeserTBoB93535 Was it necessary to call names?

  • What a awesome sound

Is there a exhause on it?

  • No No I meant the Buick V-6 had been used on some Land Rovers and a lot of JEEPS....sorry...my bad.

  • @middsteve Durrr...Land Rover never used the Buick V6. They BOUGHT the Buick aluminum V8 that they used in the Specials from '61 to '63. GM decided the cost of production of the "compact engines" (Buick 215, Pontiac 194) wasn't worth the effort and went to smaller cast iron V8s for their "upsized" compacts in '64 instead. Land Rover, AFAIK, still owns and produces the former Buick 215 V8. NOT a great engine, either.

  • @DeserTBoB93535 OH ok thank you, I did not know that, I worked on a JEEP once with a Buick V-6....must have been a transplant , I guess.

  • @middsteve the buick v6 was a factory option for a few years in the CJ' 5s and the Buick 350 was a factory option in the full size jeeps.

  • @Scrambler85 Thank you...I thought it was, but the other poster seemed pretty sure of himself, so I wasn't sure.

  • V-6 BUICK

  • thats not a v6 take a close look at how mant wires there is on this side there is 4 and 4 on the other how many cylinders is there now....

  • That engine looks similar to a land over engine I was worken on. i heard land rover used a Buick engine for a long time.

  • If that's the first start, I hope that's a roller cam otherwise you stand a dang good chance of flattening that camshaft letting it idle like that.

  • why a rivera? why not a skylark? The skylark would have been lighter wieght.

  • Casue rivi's are nice too haha, besides that engine came with the rivi

  • Love the 430 wc! 360hp 475fpt stock! not bad at all. Trying to find one to put in my '71 skylark

  • 430 is a good engine.

  • yeah you guys are right on...i hade a 67 back in the day and it had a 430 wildcat engine the 455 wasent a option till 69.

  • 430 wildcat

  • ofc its not a Nailhead , last nails has been put in 1966 in rivieras..

  • 69 wouldnt have had a nailhead-came with 430 or 455

  • I believe in Riviera's they put the 430 up to '69 then 1970 they first put in the 455.

  • thats not a nailhead

  • Ja!!! Federico Del Gringo...Det måtte til Ottris motris for å få fyra opp 430 klumpen...lol
