Monolithic is soooo much better it's not even funny. A one piece done is infinitely more energy efficient; a one piece structure is much more likely to withstand any wind Earth weather can throw at it... not to mention earthquake safety... are those 2x4s?? So this dome can collapse under fire or termite infestation?
@podboq2 The 2x4s were only used to temporarily create a frame to lay the triangular panels in. Once the panels were set with concrete, the 2x4 frame was removed. I think one piece domes are also energy efficient, but I have not yet been convinced that they are MORE efficient. The type of dome we built can actually withstand an earthquake very well because it can flex. I don't see how a one piece structure could do that.
What if you could build a Monolithic dome with 2,600 sq ft of living space, costs 10% of a the average home to build, and provides protection and efficiency from its 24in thick wall? Watch A HOME FIT FOR ROYALTY
Once the panels are concreted into place, they are sealed with a layer of stucco, then a thick layer of concrete primer, then an good thick coat of an exterior latex paint.
It needs to be repainted about once every 8-10 years depending on climate.
Glad you liked it. This dome is actually for sale, in it's semi-finished state. If you are interested, send me a message via YouTube and I'll provide more details.
Now this is an example of the quintessential you tube video. Good subject matter-good soundtrack-no video effects and last under 5 minutes. Thanks guys, more J Cash!

I have been inside them and they are spacious you can build as many levels as space will allow it is a freestanding structure that you can add on to in the future so you can start with a dome add a breeze and another dome until you have what you need. These domes have been tested cat 5 Andrew,Katrina,Ivan. Don't worry, it is better to go slowly than not at all; i am planing to build a dome myself and i was wondering what these panels were made of? Thank you!
They did several a day and were done in about a month. Thanks for your interest. We are all done with the exterior and have moved into working on the interior. It's tough when you are acting as your own GC.
