  • The artwork always reminded me of Charlie Brown. Did the same artists work on it? I've been looking for this- thank you! My mom had me watch it, when I questioned Santa Clause. Brings back memories :)

  • "Virginia"

  • It sounds like Robert Conrad (played Cannon a long time ago on tv) is the narrator.

  • @VattesLori Robert Conrad was NOT the narrator for this special cartoon.

  • @pressmin Jim Backus was the narrator.

  • @pres

  • ive never believed in Santa and my Christmases have always been magical and memorable. We didnt need Santa to show what it is means to have Christmas spirit or what giving means.

  • This cartoon is darling, but what's with the women having like giraffe necks?

  • @bjampower its just a cartoon lol

  • I´m from germany. But i love this movie (it ist part of my yearly christmas-programm) and i´d like to know, if this movie will be shown in american TV this year. I wasn´t able to find it (only a new animated one. But the 1974-version is more charming and adorable).

Thank you in advance for an short answer.

  • @MeutenStefan If you're willing to buy it on VHS, it's available from Amazon. It's in region 1 format though, so you'll need a multi-region VCR to play it.

  • lol 8 yr olds ARE kids.....if kids back then grew up to quick imagine kids now....O.O

  • It's a really good special, but Arthur is such a stereotypical Asian. It's kind of disturbing

  • Oh my goodness. I have not seen this is years! I loved this as kid...it came on TV one year and my mom recorded it and I watched it every year after. So nice to be able to watch it again!

  • I have loved this story since I was a wee little girl. I am thankful that there are good people still getting it out there in this time of darkness to lighten the way of childhood not only in America but in the entire world. Thank you for being one of those good people. Merry Christmas to all forever. May God Bless the Children and give them faith to believe and be children while they can instead of small adults. Please give children a real childhood once again.

  • Wow that is sad but true...the older you get, the more you know and it is harder to believe.

  • Adorible! Thes kids look like the Charlie Brown kids and I love them!

  • Another proof that you don´t need perfect high-quality-animation and gorgeous special effects to create a REALLY good cartoon.

  • Great video

  • They have the new version of yes virginia! i always love seeing this on the holidays!

  • AAAUUUUGGHH!!!!

  • I'm auditioning for this tomorrow xD

  • 2:12 "your just mad cause I laughed when you asked mr.taylor about Santa Clause" duh?

  • i haven't seen this since i was little. would watch this every christmas.

  • I'm Kind Of Like Virgina, Because I too Believe In Santa Claus, and I also believe that their's an explaination to everything. and that includes Santa Claus.

  • Anyone seen the new one yet?

  • I Still Can't Wait For Christmas.

  • I Still Believe In Santa Claus, And I Also Believe That There's an Explaination to everything, Even Santa Claus.

  • from 5:48 to 5:52 it sounded like the sergeant was cussing at the policeman

  • @haneczkask How was the project doing?

  • I haven't seen this special since I was 9. Brings back so many memories. As I get older, I am always looking for things that remind me of my youth and childhood. THX 4 posting.

  • As am I!!!!!!!! And I AM NOT ashamed to admit it either!!!

  • no more enrollment wanted. no more download required. trouble free amusement. see yes virginia full length edition in HD quality for free live at hdmoviez[dot]co[tv]

  • : hv a gd merry christmas!

  • Ok whats with the *facepalm*?

  • i think what XxSTICH666xX is trying to say is that,.......well who's name is in christ-mas

even though santa is a very big part of christmas he was not the basis for christmas

but maybe he did save it by spreading generosity because the day was originally a pagan holiday and alot of people were disturbed by this so he was the original holiday cheer spreader

  • I saw the new Yes,Virginia on CBS last week but I never saw this one. I hate the way the kids treat her in this one. I don't care how old I am i still believe in Santa. If there wasn't a Santa there would never be a Christmas.

  • *facepalm*

  • I loved this show when I was younger, but I hesitate to show it to my kids (ages 5 & 7) yet, in case it affects their belief in Santa. Right now, they & all their friends still believe.

  • It didn't tarnish my belief....but way to cherish your kids innocence!!

  • Onme of my favorite specials from The 70's. Jim Backus did a fine job telling the very real story.

  • @swarlock Virginia was voiced by Courtney Lemmon. The daughter of acting legend Jack Lemmon.

  • Susan Silo, who voiced Virginia's teacher, was also known for playing the Riddler's girlfriend "Mousey" in Batman (1966). It was the two-parter where Riddler kidnaps King Boris.

  • I can't wait for christmas.

  • feeling christmassy...check out my vid of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas animation - narrated by Jah Rule

  • wow, how sweet and beautiful and so charming.

  • "You're just bullying Amy because--"

    "Because she's?"

    "Yes, because she's a girl!"

XD That kinda faked me out there.

This is a really cute Christmas special. I've never seen this before---do they still air it on TV?

  • No. Some local stations might air, but most of them. no.

  • @pressmin saw this on a syndicated tv station in San Diego recently

  • so they look like left overs from a charly brown special and they let black children and asians in school with whites in new york in the late 1800's? this is kinda messed up.

  • The reason they look like "left overs from a charly brown special" is because the person who animated the Peanuts specials was the same person who animated this. As for the race issues, I'm not really too literate on that aspect of the late 1800s, but I'm pretty sure that discrimination was rampant them. But whatever the case may be, let's just call this a little thing known as artistic license.

  • theres no need to get mad, i just thought it was weird. that thing about the same animators is cool.

  • I'm not mad. I was merely answering your rhetorical question. What made you think I was mad?

  • the way it was worded you sounded mad... or at least annoyed.

  • Nope.

  • @Montork Bill Melendez directed this special. he did the peanuts gang specials

  • How to make grown men cry...

  • The Real Virgina O'Hanlon Grew-Up To A School Teacher!!

  • This is great. I only saw the scene where the policeman was talking to his boss on the phone once. That was a very funny scene.

  • this is so great! i haven't seen this since i was a kid! thank you for posting!

  • OMG!! I have not seen the full Show on T.v. since the 70's. I'm very surprised this was NEVER on Video or Dvd. Thank God for Youtube.Lol! Thank You too Pressmin. This definately takes Me back to Childhood. You've made My Thanksgiving and early Christmas. can't wait to spread the Word about this Fantastic Post.

  • Is that Jim Backus as the narrarator?

  • yes, Jim Backus is the narrator.

  • The voice of Virginia was Courtney Lemmon. She is daughter of the late screen legend Jack Lemmon.

  • THANKS!!!!!!!
