  • good old ezdrummer!!

  • I love the backing track! Do you think you send me it? great playing by the way, love the sound of that 335.

  • I just wan't to say I love you, man! what an awesome sounding guitar, and some great, great playing. Props!

  • if anyone has a slim neck block inlay es 335 with sunburst or tabacco let me know ill buy

  • ok, so a 68 335 had a trapeze? i could look it up but do you know when Gibson started doing that? I'll never understand why they would abandon it for the stop/re-issue thing!

check my vids (my one and only maybe?) and see my 1981 335 with a coil tap! absolutely the greatest guitar i've ever held!!

    cheers: )

  • Nice job, cool blues sound and playing!

  • Hey man,

    Great jam and guitar.

Can you send me the track?

    Thanks Denzel

  • 1:55 he knows that he is playing the best guitar on the world. that's why he smiles ^^

  • Hey Greg! great playing man!!

quick question, would the okko diablo overdrive (or any overdrive for that matter) work well with an acoustic?? thanks much Kirk :)

  • No matter what amp, pedal or guitar you use, your tone is out of this world!

  • awesome. Reminds me allot of B.B. King. You got any influence from him?

  • or even the seymour duncan seth lovers, between those 3! thank you

  • Greg, first i have to say, you've got always a great tone and playing! Every video is always a classy performance. I have a question for you, i want that tone in my Gibson es-335 of all videos i've seen this is the best sounding 335 i've ever seen, knowing that most of tone comes from fingers and amp, i still don't know what pickups to choose, i like the small neck profile so my first choice was the Gibson es-335 63' reissue with the burstbuckers, for these kind of sound would u prefer bb or 57?

  • hola! mucho tiempo para tocar asi? es increible! muy bien!

  • great player with impressive gear!

  • Dang that thing sounds good and mellow---real bluesey!

  • Can i please get your e-mail? :D -Where can i buy a okko diablo overdrive? :D

  • He sure slept well last night.

  • man this vid made me want to sell my jtm45 and buy a vibrolux + diablo

    Amazing tone and playing!

  • Amazing! It got some BB King in it, some Peter Green, maybe a bit Hendrix and Page in there as well, all combined together and you get this amazing blues piece!

  • Nice nice nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great playing. Great tone.Like a young Mick Taylor.

  • Awesome playing and beautiful tone,

    Thanks for uploading the video.

  • excellent playing! i actually love the riff, and i always played it. thanks : )

  • I want one of those Okko Diablo Overdrive's. Where can I get one?

  • @TheStratman2011 just send me a mail, I sell them

  • @GregsGuitars fantastic playing, I love it. I too have a Gibson 335, they just make you want to play don't they?

  • @GregsGuitars how much are they?? i love the tone!!

  • I can hear some Peter Green in this//Fabulous guitarist//Is there a way to have your backingtracks?

    Cheer!

  • Can you tell us something about the pedals you use. In 1968 I played an Epiphone (original) 1966 Rivera (cherry red) with a 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb - very similar setup (Rivera was Epiphone's counter to the E-335 dot with the exception of a two piece "frequencator?" tailpiece).

I now play a 1997 Guild Bluesbird (made in NY pre-Fender) and an original 1994 Fender Blues Deluxe. I also own a 1990 Martin OMC-28 and a Taylor 1992(?) 915 Jumbo.

I really enjoyed your style, kid :>)

  • 1760 videos! How many guitars does Greg have?!

  • @TheShyTeds he buys and sells them. he doesn't keep them all. also there's about 3 videos per guitar :)

  • Do you buy all these guitars with the intent to resell them? Or buy them for yourself and decide which ones to keep and sell? I hope you kept that one ;-)

  • Kann man die Gitarre noch kaufen?

  • whats that guitar to the left of you in the background?

  • lovely mate very nice

  • Excellent playing Greg,I love your sound..Tnx!

  • Very nice playing, your note choices are exactly what I would use!!! I'm a super super Larry Carlton fan. Your final mix down has a very clean studio reverb quality, can you tell me what you did to get that quality of reverb?

  • @minpinful you dont need lips for playing guitar, dummy

  • no greg! i dont wanna see any more of your guitars! stop appearing in my suggestions! no but nice guitars.

  • Nice work. I have the same guitar, a 68 335 ESTD. It plays as good as ever.

  • Where we can find the backtrack ? He is amazing ;)

  • The smile on your face said it all really at 1'55"

  • first time hear you not with my head phones.

    damn amazing.

do u have a cd or somethghing?

  • One of the best things I've heard in a long time. Sweet guitar, sweet playing. Really nice.

  • I'd do some down right nasty things to get me some of that tone right there.

  • the guitar of my dreams... someday i will get it!

  • Wonderful timing Greg and no place like a Gibson 335 "if yo' been mistreated" This early morning visit to the Blues shed has made my day.Keep it up

  • As tasty as Blues can get my man!!!..., unlike most who just want to show their licks, you are playing blues "musically"...much harder than most think as it is the notes you don't play that give it melodic space. Starting easy and building it up as the band builds! That was a "baby don't leave me" tune! B R A V O !!!

  • Sweet!

  • that was truly epic

  • Wow. Very original piece you got here.

  • hi, how did you adjust your okko (body gain tone and feed ) ?

    i have one + fender blues junior+ gibson 335 td '79

    merci

  • hi, how did you adjust your okko (body gain tone and feed ?)

    i have one + fender blues junior+ gibson 335 td '79

    merci

  • i wanna be you when im older

  • Hi, hab ein paar vids von dir angeschaut: Respekt. was mich interessiert wäre wie du aufnimmst ? Welches Interface ? Welches Programm, verwendest du nacher Plugins usw... Gruß Alex

  • @gitarrenaxl

Great phrasing and playing. Some real tone to the bone with the ES/Vibrolux combo, too.

  • You take a simple pentatonic scale and turn it into magic...

  • i wish the heavy metal guys would listen to this and understand the history behind what they play - or dont play.

  • when your prizes possessions

    start to wear you down

    look in my direction

i'll be 'round, i'll be 'round

  • You Really Sound Good That ES335 really sounds just very great.

  • not such lazy money. good show

  • I just got a 73 Vibrolux Reverb It's my dream amp, I have an ES-137, and a couple Tele's I'll be playing through it.

  • OKKO Diablo better than the OKKO Twin Sonic?

  • great tone, great pedal, great guitar, great playing! What's not to like

  • Great playing!

  • What a great overdrive. The Okko Diablo>TS808 for me.

  • great playing!

  • That colour was made for the 335

  • I play an ES-335 Dot Fat Neck. Of all the amps I've heard you play through, this one sounds the best (warm, bluesy...not too bright like some). Which amp do you like to play through the most with your 335?

  • where do you find this kind of backing track??? awesome played.. nice tone!!!

  • Awesome,,,,,,,,,,bravooo

  • that guitar is behind you?on left

  • @Daniele22P Gibson Johnny A. signature

  • Comment removed

  • Hi,

that mic you're using, is that a vintage AKG D 330 BT ?

  • Lookin good on guitar sounds excellent

  • this man's finger nails are distractingly gross.

  • YOU LUCKY BASTARD. this guitar is amazing...

  • Hi, Greg,

how do you think this compares to an Epiphone Sheraton 2? i think the sheraton sounds a little thicker than this, but then again ive never heard them in person what do you think?

  • 1:29 - 1:36 nice lick

  • Can i download (or buy) your backing track for this tasty little jam?

  • Is there anywhere that i can download the backing track that you use? i have been learning your licks and would love to play along to a jam track as you have done.

  • Dems some sweet blues you got going on there! Had me thinking Freddie King...

  • Hey! Can I have your guitar?

  • I checked out youtube to look at an es-355 and so came across your vids by chance. Well done fella, really great playing. I could listen to you all day and night.

  • Amazing guitar, it is a 335 68 original or reediction?

  • This guitar is really nice, specially the noel gallagher´s signature with the british flag.

  • Loved it.

  • have you got tabs for this ?

  • I like his playing a lot, the master of the golden gibson! Gregor Hilden

  • Smooth sound.

  • You play excellent!

Nice, clean, precise and great timing.

Unlike most of the young players today that are too busy trying to be shredders.

  • @cgambarrotti

    True, great timing..

But one thing, you are comparing apples with pears..

Comparing youngsters with an adult man who's playing perhaps already decades with a 'youngster' who can play 10-15years tops, that sounds quite 'unfair' to me.

  • @cgambarrotti the comparison doesn't have to do with the age itself it has to do with the Era. An era when guitarist paid more attention to getting the timing down and playing slower if need be to make the music sound more musical. Now adays the (younger generation worries more about speed , so the speed is fast but not accurate so its not as musical or pleasing to the ear due to the timing not being perfect. In other words don't play fast if you having mastered the timing yet. Pratice, Pratice

  • @cgambarrotti yeah, all those young kids on the Facebook and the Youtube.

  • @cgambarrotti don't compare

  • man i love your playin style. (coming from a guy that plays classic hard rock/hair metal). It's been a while since I listened to much blues but it does sound awesome.

  • i need help i have the same guitar but im not sure what year it is the "Gibson" on the headstock looks like it has pearl inlays on it, not gold and does the icon below it but its nearly faded away ive just uploaded pics onto myspace account and facebook any chances of telling what year they are?

  • Fantastic .... Very interesting, like your phrasing alot... Thanks for putting up these videos..You really have nice control over allowing your notes to breath.. Great inspiration for any guitarist..

  • awesome sound and phrasing!

  • This is probably THE nicest clean sound in any of your videos IMO(maybe right next to the 07 tobacco es-335 w/ p90s

  • Awesome tone, Is the Silverface stock? What speakers are in it? Jensens? CTS?

  • first class. thank you for posting

  • ur a cool cat.

  • i want one of those guitars more than any of you can understand

  • good!

  • Wow, can you recommend some guitarists to me? I want to learn from them.

  • @ARVNpistola313 Larry Carlton, Peter Green, Mik Bloomfield

  • @GregsGuitars

Thanks. I'm stuck with the usual Jimmy Page, Hendrix people. I need to expand.

  • @GregsGuitars I agree. especially Peter Green , Mike Bloomfield and, I might add, the late, great Gary Moore. There are so many - Albert Collins, the 3 Kings (BB, Freddy, and Albert), Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters-that you can learn and draw from. Blues is not a technique, it's a feeling; an emotion, and you either have it, or you don't. You can't learn the blues in a couple of studio lessons, son. You'll either catch onto it someday, or you'll have to pick a different style to get famous.

  • @ARVNpistola313 Robben Ford

  • @lolloe Thanks

  • @ARVNpistola313 eric clapton without a doubt

  • @ARVNpistola313 one thing he is doing is combining blues pentatonic scales with "country" blues pentatonic scales. Easy to do and sounds great.

  • boy howdy, now that's a pretty tone. Excuse me while I step out onto the back porch.

  • Hey Greg, nice stuff---can you share with me how you're setting up the backing tracks while you're playing? And can you tell me why your wearing the headphones?

  • what guitar is that on the left side of the screen the one behind your mixing panel? I really like it

  • Hello, did you play some day betwen 13 - 22 july in berlin? I've just wondering if you'll be doing some jamming (i've checked your dates; theres nothing about so I ask here)

I'll be these days for holydays.

    thanks

  • lionel messi!! is that you?? nice tunes!

  • Omg, thats the perfect 335 tone

  • Nice playing! i'm thinkin' 'bout buying 335 style guitar, but i don't have the opportunity to try 'em all out. which one would you choose for funk, soul playing, heritage, gibson, or ibanez? thanks

  • @pteter123 all of those are quality guitars. You'll pay more for the Gibson and Ibanez names (more so ibanez). Others to consider are yamaha and tokai's. I have a Tokai ES130 and its easily my favourite guitar.

  • Nice Greg, you should listen to the tone of my 68 with my 60es National model 90 amp.

  • tasty tasty tasty

  • What kind of amp are u using and what kind of pedal is that?

  • Awesome.

  • Very nice. I tried to buy one of these back in 1975. The price.....$750. Ha, try to get one of these baby's now for that price?

  • man that is some sexy tone

  • you're a great guitar player. but your original song is completely generic. having said that, keep rockin man!

  • classic classic!!!!

  • Nice playin man, I like your style.

  • gorgeous tone and playing ^^

  • increible 5/5!

  • Fantastic, as always. Just plain tasty playing.

  • awesome player, how do you record??

  • Thanks for your kind words. I have two signals: the line-playback from the computer and the guitaramp, miked with a AKG D-320 B. The 2 signals are going to a cheap Behringer mixing desk Xendix 1002 FX. And a line-out from the mixer (with the two signals) goes direct to the camera. The camera is recording everything at the same time. That's it. I don't use no recording program. I don't do the editing (the camera man Stefan is doing that, I don't know wich programm he is using). All the best, Greg

  • @GregsGuitars wow! thanks, just one question, how do you add the drum sound?

  • @swatunderground The "Drum Sound" is a backing Track. I have two signals: the line-playback from the computer and the guitaramp, miked with a AKG D-320 B. The 2 signals are going to a cheap Behringer mixing desk Xendix 1002 FX. And a line-out from the mixer (with the two signals) goes direct to the camera. • @GregsGuitars

Nice tone and playing man!! I have a Vibrolux reverb "Custom" 1995...I find it a great amp( sounds like the Vibroverb)...better than the blackface you find now in shops...what do you think of that amp? Do you know it?

Is the VIBROLUX you're using here from the 70s? Ciao

  • @danlovesnan this one is a 1969 - it is way diffrent to Vibrolux reverb "Custom" and brown Vibroverb reissue

  • @danlovesnan Vibrolux reverb "Custom" and brown Vibroverb reissue have less sparkle claasic fender highs, more mellow sounding amps

  • @GregsGuitars

you're damn right!! more mellow sounding...My amp is a 1995 and has the two blue 10 Aminance speakers...mellow rounded sound... Rock on!!!

    In the past I had a 1977 Mark1 (mesa)...great amp...but not good for me...Ciao

  • DO you just constantly trade guitars? Or do you hold on to all of those?

  • I constantly buy and sell

  • Bonamassa fan?

  • yes, I like his playing

  • no offense greg, but gibsons are way to expensive for really good guitars (60's). And the new ones are crap compared to for ex. Tokais...bought 1 after comparing 335 from gibson with the really much better one ( in handling) from Tokai; price difference was a lil over 2000 CHF. But your sound is pretty cool. You into Jazz as well?? Best Regards mate

  • I think Gibson and Gibson Custom Shop is doing some nice stuff too! They really try to mak their guitars good.

I'm not a real jazz player, but Iistened to a lot to that stuff and absorbed things everytime I like it

  • I love semi & full hollowbodys...but with much wider necks than Gibson offers.

  • you must have one or two millions worth of guitars sitting in your house dude...

  • could be 3 or 5 millions too....

  • Wait do you actually own all the guitars featured in your videos?

  • I buy and sell

  • Very nice playing! Personally I prefer Sg's! But Es guitars can give very nice warm tones.

  • What cable are you using?

  • any cable

  • I just bought an original 1965 vibrolux....all original~tubes~speakers reverb tank~everything. I think it's the best amp I've ever had, and I have had every marshall and fender basically~yours is awesome ...Thanks

  • you have such amazing tone on all you videos man, love the smile at 1:58

  • clint1663 dont talk bout stevie ray cause hes a legend and his guitar would put any es 335 to shame!

  • I'm not knocking his playing by the way. It's great. IMHO, single coil is the way to go. You'll never get real clean out of a humbucker. If you need distortion, add a pedal. No guitar can do it all.

  • yes, I love good Tellys, but I'm a Gibson Fan and love the Gibson clean sound too!

  • How does this guy get to sit in the same room all day playing guitar?

  • I buy and sell guitars

  • should i get this or an sg

i play santana / srv / jimi hendrix / eric clapton

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct

    get a strat

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct strat. 3 out of the 4 you listed get their sound from a strat.

  • @LesPaulRockerProduct My vote is for a strat as well. SG's are nice too but Hendrix, SRV, Jimi, and Clapton are 4 of the biggest strat players of all time. Santana usually rocks a PRS I think. An HSS strat or just a strat in general would be perfect for you.

  • Hendrix and Clapton did play on sg's at times...

  • IF.. you're such a guitar lover like me; don't argue about wich guitar is better because of the famous artist: Why don't you buy a strat, SG and a 335? just work a summer long and you'll have al three :)

  • I say get a Les Paul Standard. An SG sounds too thin.

  • fender stratocaster

  • If you want to play like Hendrix and SRV; take none of them; take a strat. Eric clapton? depends on his time. Do u want John Mayall or cream? SG or 335. Eric clapton from the 70's? Stratocaster. Santana; don't know to much bout him(A)
