That isn't much help cause most of the time when u ditch in the water it's in an emergency so u wouldn't do pretty little circles U WOULD BLOODY JUST EJECT
Depends on how you look at it. Water is the most treacherous and unpredictable element you can land on, both in the game and in real life - you never know how the plane will react when it hits the water, and you only have one chance to make it right. Landing on land can be so fortunate that you slide on it - on water, you either plow into it or get crushed like it was concrete surrounding your aircraft. :)
The video is good but i think it is impracticall. The only time you would really ditch in the water in IL2 is wen ur engines caught fire or u dont have any fuel. No one would land a plane with two working engines in the water. The tutorial sould be with no running engines
Hey is this for pc and hoe much did it cost. Oh and could you lose a wing and stay in the air unlike other flying games where you hit a leaf and blow up and is there a multiplayer.
It is for PC, it is not very expensive, should be in your local store. Look for IL2: 1946. It has a very realistic damage model, every damage may affect the aircraft differently.
Multiplayer is also possible. Remember to download "Hyperlobby" (search for it in google) and 4.08m then 4.09m patches.
Use Hyperlobby program to create an account and fly online with hundreds of other people.
@rockyson990 Check out lockon flaming cliffs 2, in that game one of the planes damage models is so advanced half your wing could tear off and you can still fly, hard to control though :P
ok this was a perfect ditch in the water but i see 1 problem. how are you going to get home when there is no rescue team coming to get you and you are not able to move your guy after he hits the water.
.... If you got to ditch as fast as possible, just come in a very small angle under 300 km/h. No time to do circles or decrease throttle slowly when you got spitfires on your ass :D
Excellent! That will work very well, as your landing showed.
One minor point, spinning propellors on single-engine aircraft often contribute to a nose-over when landing on water. This is not nearly as much of a problem on multi-engine planes with the engines on the wings. Still, I would shut down all engines just before landing anyway. It would be sad to make a great landing and have a propellor blade fly off and kill someone.
in one mission (IL2 sturmovik: forgotten battles) ive had to emergency land russian bomber DB near the woods... ive had 2 fiighters behind me and 2/4 of my engines where critical when i was about to hit a ground , germans came from behind and shot one my wing , i lost balance and hit the ground with left side ... then wheels of the left side where broken , but ive still managed to land ... allthough the bomber (or what was left of it) exploded while me and crew where bailing ... that was sad...
Yes yes, ofc i knew what you are talking about. Im kinda "bitchy" xD. Anyways nice tutorial you made, but still you are flying a perfectly fine plane. Try to land this way when your engine is on fire or with aileron missing. Kinda hard ^^ so i prefer bailing out.
Sure, it always depends on the situation! :) I wanted to use an intact plane so the procedures to safely ditch would be as close to neutral as posssible. Thanks for your replies.
Listen, if my engines were running, even if the only thing for hundreds of miles is water, I would continue flying until my engines cut out. Rule one of emergencies if this sort, climb high, and wait till the engines die, then glide as far as you can before making a water landing
This is as said many times before a tutorial, this is to show you how you land on water, nothing more! I am not showing what you shall do in a situation, but how to simply do the last resort over water: ditch.
You are right in your statement, but it is irrelevant to my video because I am showing the last stage of an emergency. :)
Well not if you are low, you may bail when high, but not very smart when low...plus every crew memeber survive, plus in virtual air wars, surviving with the whole crew is a major succsess.
As said, this is a tutorial on how to do it, not if it is smart or not in different situations. :)

Lol I just get to a high point and turn off the engine and hope for the best trololo
Leminid 7 months ago
You wouldn't have that time if it was a real emergency and your engines had cut out or there was not enough water.
Good touchdown, by the way! I would of stopped the engines, myself.

Just crash it vertically into the water, hit escape and then hit refly. Thats the best way to land in water

water landings are the easiest things on il2 and other flight simulaters

Of course, if IL2 modeled sharks in the water, there could be some other considerations here. LOL

Why i want to land my plane into sea when i can land on runways? Isnt runways made for it?
Flegmatica 3 years ago
You obviously didnt get its for emergency landings. Sometimes there is only sea, then its good to know how to safely ditch it with all crews alive.
