  • I'm happy they put The Flash as number one. The Trixter episodes with Mark Hamill were the best!

  • Greatest American Hero? That show just sucked! And what about George Reeves in the Adventures of Superman? He was the first comic book hero on TV!

  • Greatest American Hero? That show just sucked!

  • These guys are some straight up dorks! all comic fans do not act all geeky and nerdy like that. Man they are annoyingly un-funny. I'm a comic fan and people don't believe it cause they think you are supposed to be some nerdy ass dude like those guys. Somebody else needs to host this show because they were getting on my nerves big time.

  • Really? The George Reeves Superman series didn't even make the list?! I would've made it Batman #3; Adventures of Superman #2; and The Incredible Hulk #1.

  • wtf guys! stfu!

  • I remember going to the 'Astrodome' when I was 6 years old, and seeing 'Batman. The Movie.......in TECHNICOLOUR, no less... Nothing can ever, ever, ever take that away from me. All else sucks hammer........

  • thank you for making the flash #1. I kept on thinking "where's the flash?!" as you went down the list

  • Greatest American Hero?! What about Shazam? And Flash was number 1? Granted this video is older but I think it needs to be redone. Hell even Birds of Prey was better than the Justice League "movie" not television show which I think you mixed up wth a show from the 70's. The JLA movie focused on a second rate weather wizard wannabe. Messed up origin stories for almost everyone. Made Ray Palmer look like a total tool. Disgraced Barry Allen and I could go on

  • So...Smallville is worse than the JLA movie that had no real ties to any comic?

  • You guys suck! How can you leave out The Adventures Of Superman with George Reeves?

  • @DarthSideous63 agreed.

  • Can't believe some folks (including these dudes) can't hold the idea that the Batman show with Adam West was MEANT to be silly, like "Laugh in" or "Hee Haw" but with Batman and Robin! They didn't use a laugh track (on purpose) but it may be a mistake now looking back, and how may people can't separate the idea from serious attempts like "Batman Begins". Jesus.

  • The guy on the right sounds like Carlye from Spill.com

  • Thought "The Green Hornet" should've been included. Van Williams was great in the title role and it introduced Bruce Lee to the American public and the rest is history.

  • and the cool tvseris cartoon eposode batman and robin with bat mite who loves bat girl

  • cool and yes i was thinking same thing the green mantas live action super hero tv seris eposodes ps all the onse you mentioned are cool too ps billbixbie also played as the magician tvseriseopsodes mark willson was his teacher and friend he could not have dont it with out him

  • Green Hornet, anyone?

  • Just how popular is Smallville? From what I have seen, It just reminds me of Beverly Hills 90210 but with superpowers.

  • I guess these guys made this to amuse themselves, because this has to be one of the most annoying things I've ever seen on YouTube. Obviously, there are accustomed to laughing at their own jokes, but no one else ever does.

  • @Archangel101576 i know right. They were getting on my nerves with those corny ass jokes.

  • Respond to this video... I know these guys were getting on my nerves with their corny ass non funny jokes.

  • That shit SUCKED man. Really fucking stupid.

  • I think you've got the JLA TV show confused with the "Challenge of the Superheroes/Superhero Roast" special from the 1970's. That had people like Frank Gorshin, Adam West, and Burt Ward reprising their "Batman" roles, but could not use Superman or Wonder Woman. The JLA TV show you show a frame of is a never-aired pilot made much more recently.

  • friggin Lois and clark is number 3 come on guys give me some of what your smokin!!!!

  • George Reeves Superman and Birds of Prey should have made the list. If Heroes couldn't make the list, then why did the Greatest American Hero? You guys NFL officials on the weekends?

  • The Flash was awesome and was happy to see it 1

  • I think the Adventure of Superman starring George Reeves should have been included. It was the definitive TV Superhero show. Obviously the special effects were primitive. But you should see it as the forerunner. and it was very successful. Which allowed other superhero shows to be made.

  • In my opinion, "The Incredible Hulk" should have been #1, followed by "Wonder Woman". In terms of prime time TV series ratings, they both hit it & had it made! And as much as I love the DC universe, Superman wasn't well adapted to the TV screen in any of its TV incarnations - Smallville is fun to watch, but is too cerebral. And you left out "Superboy" (1988-91 live action series). Yes, Hulk @ #1, and lovely Lynda Carter @ #2.

  • you guys rock i loved the flash i think you guys were spot on great job

  • Why'd ya show the Justice League Pilot,"epic fail", from the 80s cast pic but talked about Legend of the Superheroes which were 2 episodes that aired in the 70s for number 9

  • YouTube ads suck

  • How come you didn't include Adventures of Superman with George Reeves ? yes it is fairly dated but still good.. and the very first of the Comic to Television show that started the ball rolling..

  • how come you didn't include Adventures of Superman with George Reeves ? yes it is fairly dated but still good.. and the very first of the Comic to Television show that started the ball rolling..

  • I was surprised that they did not include the Adventures of Superman with George Reeves. I would have thought it would have been worth mentioning.

  • the hulk should be #1

  • A great pick for number one,

My choices for the most overlooked live action Comic Book TV shows

    5. The Green Hornet from the 1960s (came out around the same time as the

Adam West Batman show but it wasn't all that campy, plus it gave us Bruce Lee.

    4. Shazam (1970s) decent adaptation of the comic although not on a scale of the original 1940s Otto Binder, CC Beck Captain Marvel comic.

  • @cha5

    3. Swamp Thing (late 1980s?) a decent attempt to turn out a TV series,

nothing comparable to Alan Moore's comic but still better than the earlier Swamp Thing films IMHO.

    2. Sable (late 1980s) a TV adaptation of the Mike Grell comic series 'Jon Sable Freelance' that came out around the same time as Star Trek TNG and maybe ran for 7-10 episodes, the most unknown comicbook show ever IMO.

  • @cha5

    1. The Birds Of Prey, Hey it had Mark Hamill in a memorable Joker cameo and it wasn't much more convoluted than say Smallville, if this show had really been worked on and and the writing and characterization had been sharper I really think this show might could have worked out.

  • GREAT LIST

    STICKS

  • GREAT LIST

    STICKS

  • Wonder Woman's hilarious now? What superhero show isn't? Like SMALLVILLE or Buffy are high art or something. I hate it when a superhero show begins to take itself seriously and has to have the heavy handed soap opera crap all the time. The darkside of a superhero's personality, his or her troubled childhood or some troubled past. I just want to have some laughs and some great camp. LEAVE THE SOAP OPERA SHIT OUT.

  • @swans1997 Are you saying you cant take something seriously because its about superheroes?

  • @CyberLance26 As serious art? No, but I hardly take art seriously anyway. I enjoy it. I don't intellectualize over it or try to analyze it. Especially comic book superhero shows. I love my Lynda Carter, but it's escapism to me.

  • @swans1997 Superhero stuff are very often way more deep and got way better storytelling than most of the stuff on TV today.

Same thing with the comics compared to most other stuff today in my opinion.

  • @CyberLance26 yeah, but I prefer the goofy camp superhero stuff. I never watched "Heroes" . Sounded like a booooring time to spend an evening. I 'll watch the old Batman show anyday. Is there going to be a "very special episode" of Smallville?

  • @swans1997 Ok then.

I strongly prefer the serious Superhero stuff like Batman the animated series for example.

Or shows that can both have great serious storys and still be very funny often like Teen Titans.

  • Respond to this video... Ha Ha "a very special episode of Smallville".

  • awesome

  • I think you guys did a good job on your top ten I just think spiderman should have ben in top 3 other wise great job

  • Heard that. I first started watching Spider-Man when I was 11 months old back in 77.

  • totally agree with the list 100%

  • Smallville is a great series, but definitely not the best comic-to-tv stuff..

I disagree, Adam West series to be put up that high on the rank..

And that number 9, review is somewhat wrong, mixing up "Legend of Superheroes" and failed pilot JLA; its NOT a series

How could they forget bout Swamp Thing?

And there are others worth mentioning such Witchblade, Birds of Prey, TMNT Next Mutation etc...

Personally, i think lately the Japanese manga-to-tv live action series are better executed...

  • Smallville is the best

  • The Incredible Hulk should have been #1.

There was a giant omission in leaving out the George Reeves Superman TV show. That was a defining Superman for a generation...not mine, but for many.

  • The Incredible Hulk, even today is fantastic. Bill Bixby was such a great actor, you could to a full episode without Lou and I wouldn't care.

  • @Yankeemetfan06 Agree with everything but the "without Lou part"... at the time, with that budget, try to replace Lou. That's what I thought.

  • The Hulk Movie actually blended the TV series and the comics in that The Hulk TALKED with the voice Lou Ferrigno used in the latest animated series!

Terri Hatcher the hottest lady on TV?? With Tracy Scoggins on the same show? Get Real!

I too remember the Superhero Roast but I don't remember the JLA series. The Flash got better when The Trickster & Captain Cold were realized IMHO.

  • EVERYTHING Hulk-related except the TV-series is CANON. YES, I SAID IT. And I agree with Pete, should have been #1!

  • 100000% agree that The Flash was the best live action comic book show ever.

  • Birds of Prey wasn't great at all, but definitely better than that '97 JLA wannabe.

Also I guess Smallville and Lois & Clark were the best of the TV adaptations of Superman, but you probably could've mentioned either the Reeves classic Superman or the late '80s-early '90s Superboy and where they stood in relation.

  • Spot on with the Number One choice! I have loved The Flash live TV show for the longest time, and always felt it was never given its due. Great list, you guys are hilarious, and keep it up! :)

  • Oooh, also voting for an animated list!

  • POWER RANGERS!!!

    lol

  • MANTIS Carl Lumbly is the shit

  • Was this the greatest or the worst?

  • I'm not going through all the comments, but I'm hoping some old man, like myself, will set you young punks straight. Justice League - you show an image of a pilot that was shot in the 90's and you talk about the two specials that DID feature Batman and Robin (West and Ward) in the seventies. The Tick was very popular as a cartoon. It ran three seasons. The Fox Network loved it and saw the potential as a live action series. GAH was not a comic book, so it shouldn't be on the list. Dopes.

  • Totally wrong! The Flash was awful. Best realization of a superhero on t.v.? With that costume stuffed full of pillows? Then again, I like Smallville, which you put last, so we must just have very different tastes.

  • I disagree. The Flash could have been better developed, but if you note, DC/Marvel writer/artist Howard Chaykin and writer John Francis Moore contributed to the series, along with screenwriter Michael Reeves. Smallville is basically Superboy without the cape and tights thrown in with elements of Dawson's Creek and Roswell.

  • Im with Pete on the animation list!

  • yo man this episode was dope and even though I didn't see amny of these shows I'm deffinitly gonna check it out

  • Next episode: Greatest comic book MOVIES of all time! :)

  • yeah i would definitely second an animated list, though the top four are pretty much a given in my opinion; batman tas, x-men (the one from the 90's on fox), spiderman (the one from the 90's on fox), jla (not jla unlimited).

batman tas has got to be number one, great stories, amazing villains (best portrayal of the joker and the introduction of harley), top voice acting with conroy/hamil, and lest we forget the BEST intro to a show ever...

  • When's a Swamp Thing TV Show coming up?

    Swamp Thing VS. Greenpeace Activists

  • There was a Swamp Thing television show in the late 80s or early 90s on USA at one time. Part of the run has been released on DVD recently.

  • Animooted list please.

  • Night Man greatest comic book tv show!........ Just kidding

  • anamated list would rock !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these guys were on meth when they made this. Look at their eyes..

  • this was horrible

  • Batman and Green Arrow rock

  • wonder woman is the best

  • I didn't realize there were that many live action super hero shows. I would have to say go with an animated list as Batman: The Animated Series or Justice League blows all ten of these shows out of the water. I agree with your assessment of most of these, that I have seen although I was hoping to not have Smallville as the show is awful these days and has definitly gone on /WAY/ too long.

  • The only stupid thing about the list, is it pretty much listed every superhero tv series ever. It was more of a worst to best list, that an actual top ten.

  • I remember enjoying a Superboy tv show and My Secret Identity as a kid. The Flash was great too.

  • I really enjoyed the list. But A few things. First off, why were Thor and Daredevil neglected? True they may not have made the "tep ten", but an honorable mention is in order. Also, Smallville is a huge television success for superheroes and it's run longer than over half of the shows listed. #10 does not do it Justice.... League, lol. I could not resist.

You should def do a cartoon top ten. But I don't know if 10 is enough... there have been like 30 or more animated hero shows. Thanks again.

  • Guys, you got the JLA pilot mixed up with a 1970 roast show called Legends of the Super Heroes. But that is ok. You make a good show so you are forgiven

  • I demand a cartoon list as well. XD 1. The Flash - I'v only seen the first ep. It was good. 2. Incredible HulkI You won't like me when I'm angry. XD 3. Lois and Clark - sucked ass >__> 4. Batman - Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Batman! XD 5. Wonder Woman - sucked ass >__> 6. Greatest American Hero - haven't seen it 7. Amazing Spider-Man - love the re-runs XD 8. The Tick - epic lulz XD 9. JLA - haven't seen it 10. Smallville - I effin hate this show
  • Number 2 and number 1 are interchangeable for me, loved them both.

  • I remember Mantis Justin!!! Man that show is soooo long ago lol. Phil Lamarr was Mantis!

  • Carl Lumbly was M.A.N.T.I.S. He was also the voice of Martian Manhunter on the Justice League cartoon series

  • Sorry. The JLA Live action pilot was different from the Super Hero Celebrity Roast of the 1970s, which did have the Adam West Batman and Burt Ward Robin. It also featured Huntress and Black Canary, mainly for T&A appeal, but I was shocked they actually picked two cool female characters. The JLA pilot had Guy Gardner and Barry Allen, along with Major Charles E. Winchester as a portly Martian Manhunter.

  • what about "Birds of Prey" remember that one? It was like a story about Batman's daughter and the Oracle... remember? and by the way, i like Smallville.

  • I remember mantis, man! I remember especially that in the last episode he fought an invisible T-rex...what a great excuse for a low-budget!

  • I would love an animated list.

  • 2 words Green Hornet....

  • i love smallville

  • An animated list would be alot tougher to make, would be nice.

    Batman (1992-95) is #1 though :P

  • ANIMATED LIST PLEASE

  • Where is Birds of Prey?

and Yes Pete I want an animated list! (and a movie list)

  • indeed, you didn't mention Blade!

  • Blade n mantis

  • Great List with at least one, already mentioned, glaring omission-

The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves should be on the list. Despite having cheesy effects, paper thin plots and a shoestring budget, the show was quite popular in its day and it thrived in syndication for years. For a generation of kids George Reeves was Superman. If Smallville can make the list Adventures should too. Heck, at least George wore the costume!

  • You guys were really hard on Smallville. It wasn`t great but it should have ended up higher than Justice League, at least.

And this type of episodes should be done more often. Maybe once a month do a top 10 special. There is a lot that could be covered; anime series, movies, big arcs, independent comics... this could give you guys a chance to talk about past movies, shows or comic books that are worth reading that your normal show format doesn't allow. Love the show. Keep up the great work.

  • Smallville is a pretty dumb show. It falls into the same category as other CW shows which try to entice younger views via eye candy. Like Alex said, it has a few good episodes and Luthor and Chloe are probably the life of this show. It is HORRIBLY directed...so many cheesey mistakes and "action" sequences. The show is pretty lame. It's exactly where it belongs on the list, #10 and that too 'cause you kinda' have to include it in the list.

Nice #1 pick. You can see Mr. Flash in soap operas now.

  • honestly, i think the tick should have been number one... i mean c'mon, IT'S INSANELY FUNNY!

  • Yes an animated list :)

    JLU #1

  • i've only seen the pilot of the flash and i loved it

  • For some reason I can't play this video properly. Managed to watch it anyway, and it was a treat. Gotta love lists like this one, even for nostalgia's sake.

Looking forward to the animated shows top ten list.

  • you guys check your facts the justice league was called the legends of the superheroes not the lame justice league pilot from a ten years ago.frank gorshin was the riddler.

greatest american hero you guys don't even stick to your own perameters.the was no comics before the show.

  • yes animated list!!!

please put spectacular spidey on the list if you make it!!!

    ^_^

  • Definitely do the animated show list, How about Greatest Live Action Comic Book Movies? What about Night Man or Swamp Thing? Blade The Series deserves an honorable mention.

  • This is my first comment on your show so I want to start by saying you guys are great. I love comics and it's great to see you guys do a great review show. Mantis was a great show! I liked your list I completely agree with the placements. Also I'm with Pete, you guys should do an animated list.

  • There's much more to choose from animated. Movies would be better for live action. I was thinking alex was going to sneak buffy in there.

  • Oh. Speakng of japanese live action, the GTO Live Action is AWESOME! If included on the list it would probably be No.1 on my list. (then Incredible Hulk)

  • Animated list please!

    batman: the animated series

    or

    justice league will probably #1.

  • PS. Was that the crappy Justice League minisereies from 97, the one where the atom's only usefulness was saving cats from under buildings? Sounds realistic to me

  • Greatest American Hero? How did that make it on the list? Was it a comic book too?

Your top 3 were pretty good, but come on smallville number 10!? You're thinking too old school. Smallville's last few seasons have been really good, especially introducing green arrow, etc.

Anyways lets see your animated list now. ANd you better not put old 70s cartoons on it. There's no room for that.

  • the mantis rock!!!

  • You missed the live action series of 'Birds of Prey'. Admittedly it kinda sucked, but it was BIRDS OF PREY....ON T.V!!! It just blew me away that they made an entire series that was bound to have a relatively small fan base.

  • Do the Animated list next :)

I'd have put Wonder Woman higher on that list. lol I own all three seasons on dvd.

What do people think of the WB's try at Birds of Prey?

  • Great show guys. First of all, YES, i would like to see a animated show top ten. Second, Incredible Hulk SHOULD have been No.1. Other than that i think your list is pretty right on. BUT, if you're talking live action the picking is kind of sparse in the US. You should look towards Japan the rulers of live action TV series. They have Sailor Moon, Death Note, EVEN a Japanese version Spider-Man where he has a mecha.

  • Animation one please.

I've always wanted to know if those marvel animated movies being released on DVD are worth it, espeically the Dr. Strange one...

And your number one better be the Spider Man Animated Series from the 90's! That was so good, and it rean forever. It covered almost every villian and stuck to the comic! Even had some clone saga and madame web. More mature than the audience of fox kids at times, I still remember it fondly.

  • What, no love for George Reeves's Superman 50's tv show? And the Flash at #1 is a bit hard to buy, I agree with Pete. The Incredible Hulk should be #1 since it's the only one that did drama well. In fact, barring Smallville(which you guys had at #10 and I don't have a problem with that), TIH is the ONLY other superhero TV show on your list that actually HAD drama. Thank you, Bill Bixby.

  • I thought I'd commented earer but I can't find it. Here's vote for Birds of Prey cruelly taken from us too soon. If only they could get around to a region 2 release on DVD

  • PLEASE both animate the list and have Pete painted green for the next ep...

    Great job guys.

  • was greatest american hero even adapted from a comic book?

  • abimated series

  • smallville is number 10??

    wtf

  • Smallville has stank pretty bad at times. But I'd still put even the worst episode of Smallville over even one episode of half this list.

    I call fail.

  • What episode of JLA is it that the villains do a roast of eachother? I can't find it :(

  • they got it wrong, they meant the show called Legend of the Superheroes not JLA. its from the 70s

  • Thank you :)

  • #1. First scene.

  • Yes! An animated list next time!

  • No Night Man? WTF?

    Epic Fail.

  • Yeah! Animated list next guys

  • Animated list please,

Earthworm Jim or Sam and Max for Number 1?

  • Maxx or Spawn or WildC.A.T.s

  • LIVE action ...

  • Pay attention dumb ass, they asked about Animated shows.

CptNameless asked if Earthworm Jim or Sam and Max should be number 1. I suggested Maxx or Spawn or WildC.A.T.S., all of which are not live action.

    Pay attention.

  • Sorry, I thought you were listing shows that The Stack omitted.

Not entirely sure that required such rudeness, but I forgot, this is the internet, where people have absolutely no couth.

  • at this point smallville is set in it's own universe.

  • Indeed. Its sooooo not based on the comic books.

  • WHERE WAS BIRDS OF PREY???

    That series was pretty decent.

Especially when Lori Loughlin (Aunt Rebecca from Full House) was the aged Black Canary, AND Clayface III... wow!

I'd like to see an Animated List and a TV Movie List (eg- Nick Fury, Generation X, etc)

  • Birds of Prey!!!

I was cancelled way too soon. It actually had Special Effects!

and I'm all for an animated top ten. X Men TAS how I miss you.

  • I think early Smallville show be higher on the list. The Flash is perfect as #1. I did found it odd they never went ahead with a movie.

  • i remember mantis

  • Lois and Clark is not better than Smallville. You're all smoking crack. Good job on teh Flash/Hulk though. Definitely a tie between those two.

  • FAIL

  • Erica Durance > Teri Hatcher

    Tom Welling > Dean Cain

    EPIC FAIL YOU

  • YES!!! an Animated list!!

  • I loved the Flash TV show its my favorite series of all time.

  • Buck Rogers. Agree about the flash. Mark Hamill as the trickster. Gotta love it.

  • SMALLVILLE AND WONDER WOMAN!

    rock's!!!

    i luv CHLOE!!

  • that was exactly what i would have chosen for a top10 bring on the top 10 animated

  • I to would love to see an Animated list I just hope they include Spectacular Spiderman on the list

  • Most of these shows are before my time lol... It would be great if you could do a top 10 animated list and the new Spectacular Spider-Man should be on it!!

  • HEROES RULEZ!

  • I'd like to see an animated tv series list

  • An animated list would be awesome.

  • If there was a top 10 animated list it would be mostly made up of DC stuff because Marvel were never really good at making cartoons, bar the 90s x-men. The DC ones had a slightly more mature feel to them.

  • Definitely Batman the Animated Series tops my list - it won an Emmy and has Paul Dini as one of its creators!

  • another reason the Flash was so awesome.. MARK HAMILL!!!!! FTW

  • Dude, if there's going to be an animated list, Batman the Animated Series is my vote for #1! It was such a great show!

  • I agree, that show was to perfect and very mature for a kid show.

  • Watching Smallville's 6th season dvd. I watched them all in the last few weeks. I thought I would hate it,but it is not as gay as I thought it would be.

  • The show got better when it found its place. It was a Buffy knockoff when the show started.

  • I like smallville. It's an alternative universe. I dig it., M.A.N.T.I.S. is awesome. Flash kicked arse...Justice league...LAME, the BLADE TV show was better, BIRDS OF PREY was better than that (heck even Mutant X was better). come on!!! Seriously..the JLA that was dumb dude, it's worthless. Greatest american Hero is soooo good.

  • I had the pilot for Flash on BETA, and would watch it alot as a kid... I think/hope my mom still has that beta tape player in storage, so i can watch that and wrestlemania 6.

  • ANIMATED LIST!!!!

  • SMALLVILLE IS #1!!!!! mmmm...Tom Wlling...wait -what? No I mean Kristin Kreuk! Kristin Kreuk! Tick was l
