You also forget that many of the Native Americans also fought against the British years before. The only reason that England (and Northern US) turned away from slavery is because it was no longer profitable.

According to the definitions, if Hamas stopped targeting civilians and turned their efforts to the military and police, they would stop being terrorists. Unfortunately it is not only their choice of targets (civilians vs military) but also their means of attacks (use of non-uniformed soldiers, women, and children, civilian buildings, suicide bombings) and use of indoctrination (hate propaganda, child indoctrination, death promotion) that are part of why Hamas (and many like them)is deplorable.
