I agree for the most part. Some of the patterns in the middle called for some speed because it was reflecting a bit on the DnB style of playing, but yeah he was definitely showboating us like crazy.

this guy is my least fav drummer of all time. he just has no feel what so ever, his drumming is in time, technically nothing wrong with it but it feels like ice. the creativity seems so clinical and clichèd. i've seen easier solo's that impressed me more.

Too bad you don't think before you write. The point is that no matter how talented Assaf is the "music" was boring. He was showing off chops and speed. I applaud a good drummer and he IS very good but the music was uninteresting. Simon Phillips plays interesting solos, Joe Morello soloed like a genius and he was blind. Terry Bozzio, Louie Bellson, Bill Bruford, Dennis Chambers. I've seen 'em all live or in clinic. Look up to those geniuses and leave Assaf to the Cirque de Soleil/Las Vegas crowd.
