I heard of sizzling rice soup. It uses the sizzling rice that meets your description. It is absolutely delicious. I also like hot and sour soup. Sesame bun is my favorite! Sizzling rice almost have the same texture as the cereal called Kellogg's Rice Krispies.
I love how they romanise 月華and pronounce it as "Yet Wa". LOL. In Cantonese, 月華 would be pronounced something like "Youet wa" and in Mandarin would be "Yue hua". LOL
Anyhow, lovely video and the food looks really, really good! I've never been to the restaurant but maybe one day. I LOVE dim sum! :)
I used to live right down the street from this restaurant in San Francisco. The food is delicious. Now I live in the midwest and I miss their sizzling rice soup the most!
Sizzling rice isn't rice porridge. Sizzling rice is crisped up rice (a little like rice crispy but tastier) and soup is poured over it. The soup is usually a clear broth but with lots of stuff in it like shrimps, fungus, bamboo shoots, greens. You can buy uncooked sizzling rice in packages. They come in dried square form which then needs to be fried.
It's the simplest Chinese dish on earth cuz you don't need to bother with the cumbersome chopping work of making slender strands, paper thin slices, small square cubes, shreds...... And no need to waste money for dining in restaurants coz the tastes are same anyway.
Do you have an Asian grocery store around where you live? Sizzling rice is really "easy" to make :) They come in dried packages and all it is is you take those square pieces of rice cakes and deep fry them. You can use any soup to pour over the sizzling rice :)

I love all the dim sum. I love the steamed rice rolls with shrimp inside (Cheung Fan). The dumplings are good too.
