I am in the same situation now being 9wks post rupture and 7wks post surgery in my right leg. Tore my left AT over 20 yrs ago playing basketball in college.
This time I was playing basketball with my nephew. Been in cast; now in boot. Trying out shoes even though official doctor approval not until next week.
Ruptured my left 12 years ago...3 days before I got married. Now 12 years later, ruptured my right. A lot different with the right...can't drive. Hope all is going well. I'm 41/2 weeks into it right now. Starting rehab next week. Good Luck. Need to get back to basketball!!!

Well, I know I didn't give any updates throughout the process. I got too busy (even though I was on my back for months). Anyway, I have healed really nicely and I am back to normal activities. The only thing I can't do is run fast or ump for another 6 months.
Good luck with the recovery mate, I know all about it because I ruptured my left 2 years ago. Check out my blog called Message to David Beckham Achilles Tendon.
I feel your pain...I'm a couple weeks ahead of you with my "matching pair" of achilles ruptures (basketball in '97 & soccer on 6/1/10). Best of luck with your rehab. I'm going with the non-operative route this time, several new studies show sugery and non-surery have the same results.
I'm up and walking 4 weeks out with a "VacoPed" boot (highly recommended)
