i got a question, whenever i play the first solo or almost any other solo from any song, everytime i change note i get the open note sound from where i just released my finger, so if i am playing 14-3string then 15-2string, itll sound more like 14, and then an open 3rd string along with the 15. i have no clue why it does this, but dont say i need to palm mute, because no other guitarist ive seen has had to do that, can anyone help?

it's all basically the pentatonic scale...all you have to do if you don't know what fret he's on is refer to the notes in the scale and you can find it easy if you just use your ears like the other guys on here said..

dude there is no pentatonic scale used here. Its completely the minor scale with its 2nd and 6th notes used properly and at regular intervals to give the 'saddish' and 'tragic' tone which is the characteristic of the natural minor scale

no probs. Most of the times its quite safe to guess that a song written by kirk is in the pentatonic (because he's really limited and boxed-in with his progression). However this song, along with a few limited others, is a master piece in the sense that they are, to a small extent, unique to his style.
