This scene was so horrible. It's crazy, but I know Dexter by chance by seeing this scene, I didn't know it was the end of the 4th season. But even if I knew this, I decided to begin the whole serie and it's so amazing.

I agree with Bozso46. The show may be called Dexter, but, to me, the whole point of Season 2, 3 and 4 was watching Dexter balance his 'personal hobby' and family life. It was gripping to watch them work through everything only to have it end like that, and, i was seriously disappointed. I've never, ever, felt such empathy towards a Character like i have done with Rita with this show. I was heartbroken seeing that scene. Season 5, to me, after that, lacked depth and a genuine story.

I was so shocked by this and pissed off. He almost finally had it all but I think it had to happen for Dexter to truly accept what he is and how much he's evolved. Dexter needs someone who knows him the way Lumen did. Now Lumen really made me mad bc while Rita had doubts bc of Dexter's insincerity Lumen knew him for what he was and rejected him after all was settled.

I seriously don't know how they can continue this. The whole point of the last two seasons was, the question, if he can have a family, if he can protect his family with this "lifestyle", and now it turns out, that he can't? It's like there is no point in continuing..... I'm angry with the creators. It is OK, to make a shocking ending, but it is not OK, to kill the whole point of the show, that they bulit up in two years....

@Bozso46 Not really... had Rita stayed, Dexter would have become "human". We were seeing how his dark passenger was basically going away thanks to his family. Had it gone away completely, THEN there would be no point to the show, as Dexter would no longer be a serial killer, and that is the main aspect of Dexter. Killing Rita allowed Dexter to sink deeper into his dark side, although, it seems like his human side is still around, and it may come back because of Harrison.

I heard that the writers were planning to kill Rita off in this episode so I was kind of prepared, but then she left home for that trip and I thought that I got it all wrong.
So yes I was totally shocked when dexter found her dead! I think it was good though. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rita, but a happy family man didn't fit dexter in a way. His life is supposed to be a bittersweet symphony. Now it was time for some bitterness...

you can tell the baby was placed in the blood afterwards because their where no baby prints around the baby from him crawling or a empty blood pool around the babys bottom.

Lol this scene absolutely shocked me. My jaw dropped for a good 3 minutes until this scene was over! I couldn't believe Trinity would do this to Rita. Season 5 is gonna be great! Quinn shouldn't be fucking with Dexter, especially after the death of his wife. I wonder, will Dexter go as far as to kill Quinn? Quinns going to a place he doesn't wanna be, which is Dexter's dark side.

Unfortunately it's always been slated to happen like this, after everything that's happened there really can't be a happy ending. Regardless, only 3 weeks until season 5. So fucking pumped.
Props to the writers for making it realistic instead of pandering to fans who wanted the happy ending. Dexter is a dark cloud that brings misery to all in his life. Rita was a casualty of that dark cloud.
Eventhough Rita was sometimes the annoying nagging wife, I found her death saddening. She was harmless & likable nonetheless. Haunting finale that avoided the usual formula
When did Trinity find out where Dexter really lives? Why was the baby's life spared? How could Trinity find the time to kill Rita while he was trying to flee? Why didn't he say someting to Dexter about it when he was taped to the table? It seems like that would have been a good opportunity to tell Dexter there would be a little surprise waiting for him at home.
@spyguys He probably found the address in Dexter's old apartment somehow. He had Dexter's real name. He killed Rita before picking up his Mustang while Dexter was probably waiting outside the body shop for him to pick it up.
This was brutal. I know a lot of season finales have some big cliffhanger, and once Dexter finally finished things with Arthur and went home, I felt like something was missing, but I was totally convinced it was going to be a nice, happy night with Harrison and Rita for Dexter. I was so caught off guard by this, and it's really upsetting. I have just watched it on DVDs, but I'm hoping to get Showtime by September.

Even though I (sadly) already know what was going to happen. It still left me surprised. I can't wait to start watching season 5.

I actually figured it out just as soon as he walked in the house what was coming, but it was still an amazingly emotional finale.
Now, with Rita out, there's one less strong element to show the discrepancy in Dexter thoughts and acts and the humor that always came from it.
I'm very, very curious on what's coming.

I seriously don't know how they can continue this. The whole point of the last two seasons was, the question, if he can have a family, if he can protect his family with this "lifestyle", and now it turns out, that he can't? It's like there is no point in continuing..... I'm angry with the creators. It is OK, to make a shocking ending, but it is not OK, to kill the whole point of the show, that they bulit up in two years....

@Bozso46 Not really... had Rita stayed, Dexter would have become "human". We were seeing how his dark passenger was basically going away thanks to his family. Had it gone away completely, THEN there would be no point to the show, as Dexter would no longer be a serial killer, and that is the main aspect of Dexter. Killing Rita allowed Dexter to sink deeper into his dark side, although, it seems like his human side is still around, and it may come back because of Harrison.

@Bozso46 Now he has to struggle with killing and taking care of his kids. Makes a wholoe new plot and challenge for Dexter. It was one of the best endings I've ever seen and leaves room for plenty of ideas. Bravo to the writers* not creators of Dexter. Amazing job. (I know I'm 7 months late but it's still legit)

I heard that the writers were planning to kill Rita off in this episode so I was kind of prepared, but then she left home for that trip and I thought that I got it all wrong.
So yes I was totally shocked when dexter found her dead! I think it was good though. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rita, but a happy family man didn't fit dexter in a way. His life is supposed to be a bittersweet symphony. Now it was time for some bitterness...
Love dexter and can't wait til season 5! And yes, I cried...

you can tell the baby was placed in the blood afterwards because their where no baby prints around the baby from him crawling or a empty blood pool around the babys bottom.

Lol this scene absolutely shocked me. My jaw dropped for a good 3 minutes until this scene was over! I couldn't believe Trinity would do this to Rita. Season 5 is gonna be great! Quinn shouldn't be fucking with Dexter, especially after the death of his wife. I wonder, will Dexter go as far as to kill Quinn? Quinns going to a place he doesn't wanna be, which is Dexter's dark side.

Unfortunately it's always been slated to happen like this, after everything that's happened there really can't be a happy ending. Regardless, only 3 weeks until season 5. So fucking pumped.

Props to the writers for making it realistic instead of pandering to fans who wanted the happy ending. Dexter is a dark cloud that brings misery to all in his life. Rita was a casualty of that dark cloud.

Eventhough Rita was sometimes the annoying nagging wife, I found her death saddening. She was harmless & likable nonetheless. Haunting finale that avoided the usual formula

When did Trinity find out where Dexter really lives? Why was the baby's life spared? How could Trinity find the time to kill Rita while he was trying to flee? Why didn't he say someting to Dexter about it when he was taped to the table? It seems like that would have been a good opportunity to tell Dexter there would be a little surprise waiting for him at home.

@spyguys He probably found the address in Dexter's old apartment somehow. He had Dexter's real name. He killed Rita before picking up his Mustang while Dexter was probably waiting outside the body shop for him to pick it up.

This was brutal. I know a lot of season finales have some big cliffhanger, and once Dexter finally finished things with Arthur and went home, I felt like something was missing, but I was totally convinced it was going to be a nice, happy night with Harrison and Rita for Dexter. I was so caught off guard by this, and it's really upsetting. I have just watched it on DVDs, but I'm hoping to get Showtime by September.
