Does anyone know if he will start again under a new name? it would be a shame to see the talent just come to an end just when things were getting good. a v-twin bike with twice the horse power as my sv650 and only 10 lbs. heavier.
Erik was a real unique person in motorcycling and it's clear that this was really tough for him. Unqualified comments like stinkyminge's (pick another word for minge & change stinky for stupid!) are pathetic. I've owned a Buell for 3 years and it's a great machine. it's not competing with the Japs, it's in a different arena altogether. It's been totally reliable for me and rides, sounds & goes like nothing else. It is everything good about biking in one package. Good luck Erik and thanks.
You fucked up letting HD marketing dickheads take over development. Willie G is a tosser. The original attraction/concept was a HD motor strapped into a frame that handled well. Customising options typical to HD prodcts were endless. Buell grew into an expensive second rate Jap bike. Only HD would see the Buell as a tool to compete with the Japs at their own game. I would buy an Aprilia or Ducatti over the new Buell any day.
Why am I not surprised? The people at Harley don't get it and they never have. The DNA of Buell and the world's other great motorcycle manufactures is someting that HOG can not even recognize. I guess as long as people need "boat anchors" HD will still be around to make them...
Harley threw Erik from the Sleigh. That's too bad as Buell makes the only decent bikes under the HOG umbrella. If only they had time to build a decent bike around the new Rotax engine that might actually be able to compete on merits with the best of the Asian and Euro factories. But Harley killed that. They want to concentrate on the "brand."
I guess that will come in handy for selling Beef jerky.
Are you sure terrorists didn't capture Erik Buell and force him to read that message at gunpoint? Because thats what it looks like. Damn, get an 1125r while you can.

man that's fuckin sad!
my uncle supported a buell race team here in germany and my dad had a xb12r. what a nice bike!
harley davidson should continue building/seeling/idunno buells and stop build uncool bikes - be more classic!
really sad that they shut down buell :(

This is so sad....I also work for a big european two wheeler company and I perfectly know what it means.
Even if my factory produces a different kind of bikes I've always loved Buell and HD.
It's so touching to feel the passion, the dignity and the great effort behind these sad words.
Good luck Erik and all Buell people, hope you'll find new roads for a better and longer journey
