you guys do this amazingly well. you're guys sound so dreamy. and make sure you tell them that!!!!! and i'll tell you something that one judge told us at our Heritage Festival when we went. i love how the tenors (in the beginning) lead us on into thinking that they're going to continue singing instead of going into the "Oos" with the basses. you're choir sounds wonderful! keep up the fantastic work!!!!!
This a great song, We are singing it soon in our choir. Also i personally know the man that wrote the song. Rene Clausen from Concordia College Moorhead is an amazing composer.
Mr. Sincliar was my high school music director. I was teachers pet. He hasn't changed a bit. My nine year old daughter plays violin for the KC Youth Symphony because of him.
we are currently preforming this song, menomonie WI high school under the direction of Audric Buhr. We were told that the poet form scotland who wrote this song origonaly wrote it as a proposal, he left it on the counter for his lover to see, after she red it she wrote something then walked outside. When the author went to read it a simple "No" was written. san but kinda funny
I loves them tenor 2's. I don't know why but every version I find on youtube is not like the version we sang for all-state. The one we sang had different text at the end of the song and more movement in notes.
Absolutely stunning and breath-taking piece this was. We did this as part of the Youth Choral Academy for the Oregon Bach Festival this year. Interesting to hear this choir sing it "'Til a' the seas GAYNG dry", we pronounced it "gahng" in our version.
We had a different arrangement of the music, totally different. A choir of 267 of us sang it for the TriCounty Choral Festival this year. It sounded amazing. The sound ECHOED off the hulls of the auditorium. Sorry, not bragging, I'm just amazed.
We are doing this song for my choir this year. I'm so glad this is a part of my senior year.

Oh! We're singing this version in the advanced chorus at my high school!
I may be biased, but I prefer our chorus. We sing it much more gently, and you can actually hear the altos when we sing.

Its a nice sound, but i feel like it should be less feirce in general. And the word gang is said like g ah ng.... or at least thats how we say it....

That's horrible. When We sang this song, it reminded me of someone I literally wound up about 10,200 something miles away from.

I love this song... we did it for all state.. but we sang it all irish like.. :D
The song's Scottish, not Irish. If you wnat some good Irish poetry then try WB Yeats. All that aside, good job on the song, very moving.
