  • I just love the dreadful sense of foreboding that this scene adds to the movie. That man was a real showstopper with this! And I love the fact that Skinny Puppy did some sampling from this scene for their album, Bites. :D

  • Things happen here about, they don't tell about. I see things. You see, they say that it's just an old man talking. You laugh at an old man, it's them that laughs and knows better

  • Did anyone in the 70's wear a damn bra!?

  • @EmmyGurl523 I know right wtf is up with that. It also seems like women are a lot hotter now a days too lol

  • @Ninety9Soulz As a woman...I think I'd rather look like that..Chicks now tend to look like Snooki. You know when you get that makeup off you'd probably get someone just like her. Boobs and all. :)

  • @EmmyGurl523 You are right about that. I personally don't wear all that makeup, flat iron my hair, or do all that tanning, natural or spray tanning. I'd rather keep my hair curly and blond. Women, in general, look much better without all that stuff......

  • This made me so uncomfortable. :I

  • "You laugh at an old man laughing.. but there's them that laughs and knows better!"

  • Oh man, this movie is an oldie but goldie

  • The essence of horror in under a minute...this scene is so menacing because the character of the drunk is so realistic.

I've met men like him down in the south and they are on the edge of sanity (which is also what makes the film so disturbing and the greatest horror film of all time--it's not that far away from the true life isolation of rural men and the deranged mentality that can foment).

The rare scene which is haunting in broad daylight. It's that sinister summertime atmosphere.

  • @RainyDayMerman Everything about this movie was realistic. The dirty grainy look, the acting was very realistic, even the part of picking up the hitchhiker. Today horror movies will never capture this esssence, one, because this society is so damn phony, anything of real essence is going to go over people's head, (you have exceptions (Rise of the Apes) but mostly it will go over people's head.)

  • @Bloodsport1 maybe not the ending so much, where he is running around with the chainsaw! that bit ruined it for me...the rest is pretty damn realistic tho

  • @Bloodsport1

    alright holden

  • Does anything the old drunk says have any meaning? I never was able to figure that out.

  • @Leatherbubba I think he is talking about the grave robberies that the family committ and mentions that while people think that it's just the gas station owner(older brother) he sees the hitchhiker and Leatherface in the graveyard as well.

  • You see..........They say it's just an old man.You laugh at an old man............it's him that laughs and knows better.

  • i see things lol!

  • great ass on Sally

  • she's wereing no bra

  • that was the original right? any of them is still alive?

  • Is this Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Scooby - Doo?

  • @baggedyman its both lol

  • @baggedyman its bouth sir.

  • I love this movie so much that every time it gets upgraded I buy it again, the blu-ray is incredible and ever since I was shocked by this film I have never been able to capture that same shock factor and I don't think I ever will, but do I really want to?

  • Classic horror and suspense films is the best.

  • i see things

  • movie is one of scariest of all time

and one of the best shot low budget film ever

  • My grandma is dating the man who played the officer with the red button down shirt (Franklin). I shook hands with him. Very nice man, with an incredible singing voice. He was showing us old records when he used to sing.

  • @MaddPigeon hes still alive?

  • yeah whatever

  • why is not coming on youtube account

  • This is another ref. to Ed Gein, as the Hitchhiker is revealed to be a grave robber, like Gein.

  • is Leatherfaces dad there? well i'm not sure if it's his dad but the guy who runs the gas station. because i didn't see him in this scene and i am just wondering.

  • give him an oscar

  • obiously is not ed gein life he had his own movie. ed gein inspires that kinds of films. do not think so mother fucker. long live to ed gein the biggest insane criminal

  • the Texas Chain Saw Massacre is all thanx to Ed Gein. so it was based on a true story

  • No, idiot. It's not based on Ed Gein's life.

  • go eat a dick bitch i never said it was based on ed geins life mother fucker. without ed gein there wouldnt of been a texas chainsaw masscre

  • It's funny how on videos of the original, people who comment know it's just a movie, but on videos of the re-make, everyone thinks it's a true story. lol

  • the "old" drunk guy should have been one of the main cast :) excellent acting!

  • @DeathWarrant90 agree hes a good, real character

  • okay franklin slowly back away haha

  • sur 13

  • If you ever see something like this on your travels. Its called an 'omen'. Just cancel your plans and head on home.

  • the acting in this movie feels so "real"... as if they arent really acting. funny how a movie with such a low budget has actors that play that good. especially when you take in consideration that the actors didnt even knew what their salary would be... that would depend on how much the movie would earn...

  • I agree. The performances are very naturalistic and i am always confounded whenever i hear people bad mouth the acting in this film. I'm from Texas and i can tell you first hand that this is the way a lot of people there really act .

  • Hahahah thats such a funny scene. I can't believe that guy is acting that dude was fucked up on and shrooms and alcohol hahaha.

  • That guy was great.

  • The man should of got an Oscar!

  • how many times are you guys gunna write what he says in the scene?

  • 1000000000000000000 times

  • dont need to cause i already heard him say it.

  • That old man is one hell of a good actor...very believable.

  • "Things happen here about they don't tell about. I see things. You see, they say it's just an old man talking. You laugh at an old man...this thing that laughs knows better." - From the screenplay

  • You see...they say it's just an old man talking...you laugh at an old man...there's them that laughs and them that know better.

  • 0:50 LOL

  • I wonder if the drunk guy ever saw the hitchhiker dig up the bodies sense he says i see things happen here

  • it's just an old man talking you laugh at an old man its them that laughs and knows better

  • "you don't think that guy will try and follow us...do ya?"-Franklin
