@Beetlejules35 yeah youre right ace and eric wrote it together that why whenever ace plays breakout he dedicates it to eric theres some roumors that it was supposed to be for erics solo kiss album
@keyringer this song was made by Ace and Eric Carr, and what they named Carr Jam was the demo of this song without the vocals and with a drum solo by Eric
This is good, but theres no beating the original 4 Kiss members in the early 70's. Their chemistry in the early years was amazing. anyone that was around in the 70's knows what I'm talking about. They were larger than life at the time. Ace proved his point with the first solo record as to what direction the band should have went. Those songs sound just as good as anything out there today. That album was ahead of its time in "78"
Actually this was originally done with Eric Carr in 1981. KISS released it as an instrumental/Eric Carr solo called "Carr Jam 1981" on KISS' Revenge Album. But they overdubbed Bruce Kulick on Ace's lead track.
Letterman really does have a kick-butt band with Figg and Will Lee, and the boys. Figg could do an around the world and have it sound like someone falling down a flight of stairs, and it would STILL be in time!! Figg and Neil Peart (Rush) are the two best drummers alive today IMHO.
I love this tune ..... this is heavy! I like the way Tod Sings it as well on the FC album ...I find both versions great...sometimes I prefer one over the other...depends on my mood.
It's Tod on the Frehley's Comet album.. Notice I said "I like the way Tod Sings it as well on the FC album ..." If you think it's not Tod on the album I would suggest writing him on Face Book...dude!
its something ace and eric carr were trying out.not kiss.paul and gene couldnt write anything this good.thats why it never made it on a kiss album.gene and paul knew it would smoke anything they wrote one the same album.
tod howarth is great..but ritchie scarlett fucking slaughters him right here....godly solos and his voice HOLY SHIT!!!!..and fig's fills are AMAZING!! great post!!!
He also did pretty much all of the drum work on Dynasty and Unmasked since Peter was too messed up to play. I think Dirty Livin was the only song Peter played on between the two albums.
actually him and ace started to play together since 77--he played on almost all of ace`salbums--he joined letterman in the late 80`s--but has alwayed played with ace-he in on the new cd also
the original was with richie scarlet also in 84 or 85...when the studio album came out it was "old" material when howarth was the singer at this period...i am a big richie fan also..i think they should reunite...theres no better guitar team!
and yes eric carr came up with the majority of the licks that anto is playing here, not the fact that both eric and anton had great respect both on a proffessional and friendship level for each other.
car jamm was the demo for breakout that never made it into kiss until after eric's death. it was also the only 'studio' recorded drum solo available to them from eric.
I don't think Richie Scarlett is "butchering" the song. Richie was an original member of Frehley's Comet circa 1984-85, along with Arthur Stead, Anton Fig, and John Regan. Todd Howarth sang Breakout on the first Frehley's Comet record, though it was good too, the original is heavier and has more of an edge to it.
love anton. great drummer. that K ride has a nice bell. ace may not be the most technical axe player but his sound, riffs, the way he moves/struts, sense of humour, all of him. sorry, born to be a rock star.
gotta laugh when I see comments like hilleys.Ace is internationally known, emulated, admired, and respected,as well as being a founding member of one of the biggest bands of all time, and somebody is gonna trash his technique,Technique dont cut it in Rock and Roll, attitude and originality does,Ace has both in SPADES!
Whahahaha, watch ace's technique in 2:54 as he walks thru the pentatonick scale in F#m...he only uses his index- and his middle finger...talk about poor technique...he's still stuck in the starting days while everyone else moved forward...he messed up riffs with sniffs, lol
What is up with bashing of Ace. You are act like you're an expert, but I watched your VERY amateur renditions of "My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "High Price of Hate" and you are in no position to criticize Ace Frehley. That's why you're in a "professional coverband" (lol- that makes me laugh) called "Papa Di Grazzi" and Ace Frehley is a guitar legend. Carry on with your mediocrity Hilbert! -LOL
You're absolutly right, it never was my intension to critize Ace's playing on a bad and bashing way. My only point is that he never went forward in his playing like bruce kulick did. Come on man, you can still see him playing the same stuff as he did in the early days. Back then he WAS the shit but never made progression. Still I think of him as one of greatest the influences of all time. If he just had sit down and practiced some more he could be bigger then EVH but he got lazy and greedy.
Still yet, as leifpaul said, even though Bruce Kulick may have "went forward" as you say, his work is near as good or memorable as Ace's. Ace could play with drop tuning or whatever new or cutting edge style that is hot at the time, but that's not his style. His style is was you are saying he should have changed or progressed, but I personally hope he doesn't change it. I really hope the new CD is full of new songs in his bad, lazy, greedy, poor technique, and lousy style most of us love!
