@Windnose Yes, I agree. When I saw this trailer for the first time I was very interested. The characters looked cool and the worlds too. When I came to know the main character his name is Emil I wanted to have the game even more. My name is Emile, so that's why. But when I actually started to play the game, Emil was indeed too much of a pansy and Marta was extremely annoying, so that disappointed me a little. Overall the game is great, though.

You see, my name is Emile. So it made me relate to the character more. But I guess I prefer Lloyd over Emil, because Emil is too much of a coward, especially at the beginning of the game. And because he had to be Marta's companion. She is so annoying.

I think they should make a third game. Combine the great things from each game. Allow every character to be playable, the cooking as in the first game after fights was more useful than the cooking in the second game, longer gameplay/storyline, allow the player to search the maps like we had to do in the first game. Costumes, titles, and I personally liked the idea of adding monsters to your party, and of course, the original voice actors. Voilá! a great sequel from a great game.

While people may say the original game was much better, be it gameplay and character, give the poor sequel a break! The producers tried to incorporate a game on a system they never tried, so it's obvious that the graphics would turn out awkward. Still, they should be commended. Not to mention, Emil is a new approach as a protagonist, and makes you think about other possibilities. He's different, but he's a deep character who struggles to create his own individuality.

while the first game is better, this is still a great game, and it does improve things. free running in battle is so nice when compared to being constricted to 2d movements in a 3d battle, also almost every cutscene is voiced, which makes skits easier to get through. The game is also funnier than the first one, and finally ill get hate for it, but Emil is a much better character than Lloyd.

@LucienofTheLight i dont know emil, that well but i hate his clothes...and i like that lloyd uses 2 swords but he is a very corny character, the only reason im disappointed by this game is because i didnt see kratos anywhere, he was my favourite character in the first game, and in the end this game barely seems like a sequel

@LucienofTheLight I'm not gonna hate but I think Lloyd was a better character for the first one. Emil is a bit of a whimp, but Lloyd was always strong and had lots of determination. What I really hate in this game is that you can't walk with other characters than Emil and Martha and if you want to get to other cities you can't walk to them by yourself, if you get what I mean. But I like the story between Emil and Martha, but it isn't really a good story for a sequel of TOS... And Lloyd's voice..

AS for lloyds voice , it is hard to get use to, though the one upside is every time he talks, i dont hear robin, though thats nitpicking. Srry Symphonia fans, but I just wasn't interested in any backgrounds but Presea's, which had almost no work on it. Can't wait to get TotA for the 3DS, and I love Vesperia's characters so much more.

well... FYI you get to see the character's true background depending on the character that interacts with Lloyd the most. That's why people play this game over and over. Besides it also depends on how many skits you get into, the extra events and stuff. For example Zelos background... is perhaps one of the most saddest traumatic and most put into thought backgrounds. I suggest using guides for the extra events, it sure helps tu uncover alternate endings, scenes, etc.

@MrInsanity25 I can't help but agree with you. The backstories, in fact, the entire plot of the first game seemed a bit generic and sub-par. I can't help but label it overrated as I do with LoZ: OoT. However, the second game put more thought into the characters... Well, at least Emil. Marta was about as bad as the others in terms of background. Emil had a pretty good story to him though. I seem to prefer the second over the first.

I was a huge skeptic buying this game, because I'd listened to all of the negative reviews. But really it exceeded my expectations.

Of course it can't match up to the original Symphonia, but both storylines really sucked me in and the gameplay is fun as always. Great game.

Oh and Marta didn't annoy me like Colette did.  That's always a redeeming factor.
