Without collective bargaining, your right to strike wouldn't have any legal protection when on company property, which means the minute your employer did something bad for the employees you 1) couldn't collectively bargain a compromise and 2) could be fired and prosecuted if you tried to strike. CB is an important step in the process and has a microscopic financial impact on gov't and business.

And in my experience, I have watched numerous families leave Wisconsin due to their UW pensions being threatened, and more friends have decided against moving here because of the unrest. Businesses are actually packing up and leaving (Miller, Talgo), and the most recent Wisconsin jobs report shows a net gain in unemployment claims, which means that Walker's promise of bringing jobs to Wisconsin has failed. Without collective bargaining, your right to strike wouldn't have any legal protection when on company property, which means the minute your employer did something bad for the employees you 1) couldn't collectively bargain a compromise and 2) could be fired and prosecuted if you tried to strike. CB is an important step in the process and has a microscopic financial impact on gov't and business.

And in my experience, I have watched numerous families leave Wisconsin due to their UW pensions being threatened, and more friends have decided against moving here because of the unrest. Businesses are actually packing up and leaving (Miller, Talgo), and the most recent Wisconsin jobs report shows a net gain in unemployment claims, which means that Walker's promise of bringing jobs to Wisconsin has failed. Then they started to implement it. When reprimanded by the court and ordered, again, to stop implementation, they defied the court again. Not until threatened with sanctions did they stop.

state employees serve the state. if you live in a state, you should be thanking them. they serve you, and that is why part of your taxes go to paying them. here is an example you might be able to understand: when you go to mcdonalds, and you pay for some fries, part of the money goes to the employee who made the fries for you. if you have any manners, you should say thank you to the person who hands you those fries, as well as the people who support the state you live in.

Stuff Walker did so far? He got rid of the train project so 5,000 jobs disappeared in Wisconsin. He made restrictions on windmills so they would be unable to build anymore here. He's non-progressive. He's working very hard to get rid of collective bargaining rights so works will no longer have a say at the negotiating table. Promised 250,000 jobs before laying off teachers.
He IS giving kickbacks to the companies such as the Koch brothers who helped him along on his campaign. Nice asshole.

I hate the government, and I suppose that means rich people who work for the government. The government ruined my life, utterly destroyed me. I suppose that is why I have no sympathy for the protesters and their rights.

But the people who are protesting, the people in the unions, the people who are losing their rights, they are teachers, prison guard workers, etc., normal middle class people.

@JasonDamisch.Most who work in prisons or schools make around $11 to $13 an hour. Some are lucky enough to make $20 an hour. You're not seeing the bigger picture like jumping jackass Scott Walker. He's more interested in giving paybacks to companies like the Koch brothers while leaving the state of Wisconsin as damaged goods. Walker put his political ambitions above Milwaukee taxpayers when he was county executive by refusing stimulus package. He's going to run Wis. to the ground.
