I know the book and film are set during the life of Jesus, but the title is Ben Hur, I can't figure out how the film makers forgot Ben Hur and Messala grew up together, that they're best friends who end up on opposite sides yet when they confront each other both characters seem as though they were enemies from day one, there are no memories of that friendship or of the good times they had growing up in their eyes. Yes I know the full title of the book is Ben Hur a Tale of the Christ

@snakes3425 Messala was but a side-story to the main theme.... that human friendship can (and often does) end up VERY disappointing... what matters is finding Christ and discovering HIS friendship, the most perfect Friend for all eternity.

Ben-Hur is set during the period of Jesus's life, but the major events of Christ's life are interwoven into the main plot, in the film Jesus was represented by a bright light (1:21) at a distance but when he had to appear on screen his face was never shown

This is a film everyone should see. Truly one of the best!
