lol i've got a AMD/ATi 5770. Dunno what your talking about with the f@#ked up drivers. Drivers are excellent for me, they just lack some customization tools per .exe like Nvidias does. But ATI has a more in-depth control panel. so its a balance between the two. I'm extremely happy with my 5xxx series ATi card.

The graphics in these demos are the equivalent of in game cinematics, which are rendered on the fly with little overhead. Gameplay, on the otherhand, is riddled with extra calculations.

Same reason the intro to Borderlands, the videos between Halo levels, or the story clips in Uncharted look better than the gameplay itself.

Physx doesn't really make a difference in gameplay, however if you like physx effects you can plug in your old 8xxx or 9xxx nvidia in one of your pci express slots and have a dedicated physx processor while your ATI handles all the graphics data.
