Radhe Krishna. Good Morning Carnatic Musical Vocal Exponent, Vidhushi sow.Bombay S Jayashri ji, thank you very much for the lovely Thiruppavai "Thoomani Madathu" sung by you, with your excellent voice and cute style. Govind Radhe, Gopala Radhe.
@springlightgirl She did it for us. because we are so ignorant-- she sang to teach us whom to ask, how to ask and what to ask it. The pasurams are much more than what they literally mean. She gave us the essence of vedas in simple and beautiful language in ways we can easily comprehend.
I am sure when Andal composed this beautiful poem, she wasn't thinking about Tamil vs Kannada etc. She composed what came to her heart. So let's enjoy with the spirit with which it was composed.
and 21 madhvadasarathis, ramdasar, and pre-post and the trinities. Dude, music don't have language, creed, caste, race, barrier. Learn to enjoyed, don't impose/induce your race authoritative or superiority remarks. good luck
Dude, cool down, it is not Karnataka(state) music instead it is carnatic(karunadaga=core country) music, the music that has been praticed in the land of Tamizhlagam(kerala + tamilnadu), coastal andhra + Rayalaseema, south karnataka + tulu naadu. Annamacharyar (existance predated to Purandarar dasar who actually introduced Pallavi, anupallavi, saranam, method) from A.P, Uuthu kaadu Venkata subhaiyar T.N, 64 sri saiva apostles, 12 sri vaishnava apostles,
Vanakam vaadyaare,(My respects to you). Yes I agree with you in ' Karnataka Music' Karnataka does not mean the state of Karnataka but it means the name for the beginning of Karnataka a.k.a Carnatic classical music that belongs to the world now. Yes there were some forms of music before Sri Purandara Daasa founded the formal organized form of Karnataka Classical Music. Documented history speaks to itself. 'All know apples were falling before Newton'.

"Nar Thai Pongal Vaazhthukal" or perhaps "Makara Sankranthi Subhasekhagalu"
You cannot deny Purandaradasar paved the way for an organized system of carnatic music. He introduced all basic stuff like sarali varusai...organized the hierarchy for learning carnatic music.....
Rajaji said "If you want to listen to music, close your eyes"..I am spell bound while hearing the Thiruppavai song "Thoomani" by Bombay Jayasree preceded by a Pasuram "Kondal vannanai"
The artiste on Mrindamgam is Sree Ganapathi of west mambalamm Chennai- his father Sree Chattalapathi Balasubrmanian, was a great self taught musician and disciple of Papanasam Sivan- I had an opportunity to learn the Raag Thillang from the great master-
My father used to recite this pasarams in Tamil transliterated in Telugu in the early hours of Dhanurmasams( mrgali )in winter. I feel ecstatic with the nostalgia of that wonderful melody and the smells of pooja room filled with sacred offerings of Pongal, Sundal etc. No modern gadget gives this feeling of ecstacy
We are here to listen to some good carnatic music, forget abt the rest of the environment.Lets just sink in the divine music thats being rendered to us,Thanks
It is divine music. With her devotion and depth, she takes the listener to a totally different level. thanks a million for bringing this music to the listener through you tube.
no question of ignoring the music, parrot, it is BECAUSE the music is so great, that the setting should be respectful, dignified, and with high visual aesthetics.
unfortunately i think we tamils are all to willing to close our eyes to what is around us.
the issue is not the overdecoration of the stage, but the inanity and lack of class that in a classical music concert the background is a giant advert for a sari house. south indians should have better aesthetic sense and greater self respect. in what other classical music tradition do they pollute the stage with advertising. its not a baseball match!
I do not agree with you that the stage is over decorated. Advertisments are required to sustain this Wonderful Art. The era of Maharajahs's patronage is long long over..It is better to focus on how Jaishree sang such a wonderful HK. Keep it up!!
in fact it is very beautifully decorated, with ganesha, etc. but to put a commercial hoarding smack dab in the middle is cheap. cheesy. how does western classical music manage to avoid this?
She is undoubtedly the best. Great devotion, you can clearly see the purity and in her voice and rendering. This is Hamirkalyani (same as "yen uir thozi" in the epic movie "Karnan").

B. Jayashree is great!
Typical though that instead of enjoying the music, Indians are arguing with each other! When will we ever learn? tsk tsk...

guitarguy1381 4 years ago
Yes. In carnatic it is called "Hamir Kalyani" and in Hindustani music it is called "Kedar". (Bekaspe karam kijiye in Mughle Azam).
