This clip is terrible. I really love Puccini but he is a bit kitschy every once in a while. So one thing you do not need is a cheesy video clip with "Angel" neon signs and singers who look as if they were actors in one of those horrible Mexican soap-operas.

May God protect us from singers who have to sing a high C at the end of this duet to show off their vocal prowess, and this against puccini's express wishes. After all Puccini is only the composer, why should stars as good as they presumably are have to sing what is written.

If you care to look at the score, you'll notice that the high C for the soprano is, in fact, written.

For the tenor, it is not.

If you were only talking about Villazon, then you are right. Puccini did not right that.

he failed in real opera theatre shows,, he cracked his voice in high notes, not in videos....

I beg your pardon? This guy is a wonderful artiste, whom is very well respected throughout the industry. Where exactly did you hear him crack on high notes, I doubt it somehow!?! Are you singer? This maybe a video, but unlike many recordings this would not have various lines or notes dropped in here and there, so it would have to be sung even better than if it was live. So where was it again you saw him, where he cracked?

Nowadays we have Marcelo Alvarez, Juan Diego Florez that needs to be reckoned with. I dont know what's wrong with Rolando, he oftens crack, you can find some of his videos at youtube where he cracked. Yes, I am a singer too, fond of classical and opera, see my vids if you dont believe me. Of course rolando is ahead of me. BUt it doesnt change the fact that he cracks a lot more than his contemporaries. Pavarotti and Gedda had cracked too, but not as often as Rolando. No offense.

Curious, very curious, but as a new idea to present opera i love it, i would just like a little more of acting from Netrebko and more realism as it es being sung! Anyway...great!
