@alexrourke1984 I wouldn't say Helix was the BEST Canadian group, you must be forgetting about April Wine, Triumph and of course RUSH!I seen Helix in 1987 for this tour when they had Haywire opening for them!
these guys are pretty much unknown to most. very good group though. bought long way to heaven in 1986 i think it was and nobody i knew had ever heard of them. too bad, they dont know what they are missing.
@Sean021122, completely different song outside of having the same name but that being said, Britny Fox's 'Dream On' is an absolute classic. Maybe I'll upload that video next. Consider me motivated.
hahaha! ive never heard of this group! theyre good! my name is like a call sign given to me by my shipmates in 2004 at fallon nas better known as top gun naval strike and air warfare center. i have seen a g.i. joe character, jeans and now a rock band with the name, lol whats next?? <3<3
Dream on Though its hard to tell Though youre foolin yourself Dream on You can hide away There is nothing to say, so dream on Dream on Though its hard to tell Though youre foolin yourself, dream on You can laugh at me because Im crying You can tell your friends how much I begged you to stay You can live your fantasy without me But youll never know how much I needed you Dream on Its so easy for you Though Im broken in two, dream on Dream on You can never see What youre doing to me, so dream on
k this version of this song which is vastly superior has 10 per cent of the original by nazereth...to whom im thankful for penning this, but really??????
@MrSpiderken Why do people have this obsession of Beiber bashing? Honestly, it's like comparing an apple to a candy bar, let it go, there's enough music for everyone to enjoy. Simple minds bash, open minds listen and keep their ignorant opinions to themselves.
I was born in the 80's and still need this feeling from the 80's. That was time of real rock and disco music. Nowadays every nerd can buy a guitar and become a "single use" popstar... I wish that era could come back again.
was Paul the Singer? he's R.I.P? bummer. saw them in L.A. at the Roxy ( right next to the Rainbow Bar) in about '86 or '87. they were cool. i was in a band called "Northrup" down there at the time, Tryin' to get signed. man, miss these days.
There's some right twats commenting on this i.e. Machammerballs and Phreeeekinstine being the biggest ones. Glad we've got wankers like that who don't have much of a clue. oh and Machammerbitch it's not by Helix you homophobic prick.
I saw Bruno the other day and thought this is the gayest shit I have ever seen, then I saw this video, and now I can say, with all due honesty that Dream On by Helix is the gayest shit I have ever seen.
@Machammerballs You seem to be gravitating toward 'gay shit'. Personally I think this song rules! If you decide to come out of the closet and embrace 'gay shit' I will support your decision.
Darn it...I wish I could just watch these videos and listen to these songs without falling in love with him again. But I cant....*sigh* Yes I am still loving you Brian <3
Honestly I'm disappointed of all this artificial rock bands that follow the cliches imposed by the glam apparence.
They're all the same...They felt compelled to conform the pompous trend of their time...Yes,that trend has produced some bad-ass songs which are sublime and immortal.
The difference is that while 40 years ago (I can't believe how much quickly the time si flowing @_@ ) boys grew up to became this kind of rock stars, now they grow up wishing to become some emo-metal-pop-cunts.
@Cerdelimo ok, i'm 15 years old and i hate the "emo-metal" style. but i love glam and hair metal, there are gret bands like warrant and danger danger, and they are not emos.
Fucking amazing cover. Didnt think id ever want ANYONE to cover a Nazareth song but ...... Soooooo glad this was done, and so glad to hear it again, seems like it's been a million years
It's not a fair comparrison of Aerosmiths "Dream On" and Helixs' version. Aerosmith is singing the Led Zepplin version that is way different in all aspects of song writing.
Aerosmith is singing the Led Zepplin version? First-off, Led Zepplin never wrote or performed a song named Dream On. Second, this version being done by Helix is a remake of a Nazereth tune, which is a totally different song from Aerosmith's "Dream On". Two different songs with the same name.....But neither song named "Dream On" have anything to do with Led Zepplin.
They actually do it better. I happened to open a CD sleeve for one of Def Leppard's albums and they didn't have anything good to say about Helix and their version. Pissed me off!
Of course they're different songs, my point was that Aerosmtih have a better Dream On. For Example: "The band Zebra has a song called Drive Me Crazy, but it ain't as good as Ratt's Drive Me Crazy" as in Ratt wrote a song with the same title as the Zebra song and the Ratt one happens to be a more enjoyable listen.
Hmmm...let's use the name of an Aerosmith classic, use a double-neck guitar like Stairway...BAM! Instant hit! Only they forgot the hit part. Actually, love the genre, never heard of Helix, pretty good song but really just like so many others of thier day.
i just seen these guy's in newmarket ont...they rocked...got 2 hug the singer...i made then sing this song at the end.....hope 2 c all again...come back 2 newmarket......xox
This song is from their 1987 Lp "Wild in the streets" and the guitars were played by Paul Hackman and Brent Doerner. On their "It's a business doing pleasure" from 1993 there is a Greg Fraser listed as a guitar player.
Don't quote me on this but I believe Brent Doerner died and was replaced by Greg Fraser. Helix has gone through many line changes and one of the original members, not sure who, just recently rejoined the band. The only mainstay has been Brian Volmer, the singer and founder. Great Canadian hard rock band!
Paul Hackman died when the equipment van rolled off the road in B.C. Brent is doing solo stuff now with his band, and you can see his band 'Decibel' videos on YOUTUBE.
