  • Not saying it's a bad bike, but how the hell can a straight axle bike with the chain/sprocket and rear disc brakes, have 10.43 inches of ground clearance? Are they only counting part of the undercarriage or the entire thing? Methinks they're cheating.

  • @FloridaFFEMT they measure the highest point of clearence, under the chain and axle is probly closer to 5 or 6 inches of clearance

  • @canamrider24 Yeah, it just seems clearance should be like any vehicle and be the "minimum" clearance (at the lowest point) and not the max if you measure "here". heh But, thx canamrider for the input.

  • How is it better? It weighs 40lbs more than the KTM 450/505sx,has primitive fuel injection,Does not handle as well,and does not have anything worth keeping stock..You gotta dump a shitload of money to come close to the KTM..and at the end of the day you have a Japanese bike that everyone and their grandma have..nothing special..KTM's German engineering can't be touched not to mention the exclusivity!

  • They are developed for different riding conditions..WP's are set up for track riding with long travel a-arms.Ohlins is set up for cross country and woods racing with the narrow a-arm setup.

  • i dont think that polaris should be able to put ktm motors in their quads cuz now whats so special about polaris i mean poeple say polaris is better than ktm but they have to remember whos motor is in their bike thats why i have zero respect for polaris so i went and bought a new ktm 450xc and i love it!

  • yea the tape on the seat is bad im getting a new one but those rims are beadlock hypers at like 200$ a peice. there the most expensive rims you can buy so idk wtf ur talkin about

    This weekend at an MX race, an almost stock 505SX finished 2nd ahead of highly modded 20K LTR's and YFZ's hahahahaha

  • so that has nothing to do with the quad, its all on the rider. any pro out there would kick the 505s ass on a stock trx, yfz, or ltr, BUT you also cant compare the 505 to 450s engine size difference, i know for a fact my big bore 498 ltr will kick the shit out of a 505

    The rider on the 505SX (477cc) was at the same level of the rider in the other quads (had big bores 475cc and more...) and even then he managed to take 2nd place. The conclusion is, An 11500 quad can keep up with highly modded quads (20K+) considering the riders had similar experience. KTM made their point, go figure.

  • KTM's intro was held at Red Bud the same weekend as the GNC national. We raced the machine on the big track which didn't leave a lot of time to collect video on the big track. So what do you love about us testing on the small track?

  • The KTM is the most race ready, the Yamaha YFZ450R is great and we have just begun to explore its potentials for performance and reliability, The DS450X MX is race ready for under $10.000 but has the most difficult motor in its class to ride. The LTR is proven, we know what it takes to make it run and what might break. For a conservative person who doesn't like purchasing first year machines the LTR is an obvious choice and still totally capable of winning in any class.

  • Being the most expensive of any 450 wouldn't we all be surprised if it wasn't the most race ready? Shit, throw a $40 cherry bomb on an ltr450 and it'll still be cheaper and smoke the ktm.

    The LTR is nice but it needs, head work, full pipe and cherry to keep up with the 525XC. Now we're talking about the SX which is powerfull and faster revving than the XC so you can see...

    Ride an LTR and then test the 505SX and you'll understand ;)
