its not the only ever six-wheeled formula 1 car, its just the only one that ever raced, Williams made a six-wheeled car only it had 4 wheels in the back, they tested it once and it was dreadful so they scrapped it...not before a full photoshoot with Keke Rosberg at the wheel

The 6-Wheeled concept was something that Ferrari and Williams were experimenting with around the same time. The rationale was to increase mechanical grip at either the front or back for better traction and handling through corners. Although Tyrrell was successful in their design, the idea fell out of favor largely due to improvements in tire and aerodynamic technology.
