In my opinion, Sonata Arctica's early work was awesome. When they played those super-fast songs like 8th Commandment or Fullmoon was a good time... but their latest two albums Unia and Days Of Grays sucked.

Stratovarius though, has ALWAYS kept the true spirit of melodic power metal in all of their albums, and their latest album is GOLD, especially Darkest Hours.

Cain's Offering is like a love child born between these two bands. I like the sound of this song and I hope they go on tour some day!!!

If Jani joins Sonata again, hopefully Elias won't be forced to leave. SA really needs a rhythm guitarist for their live performances. I don't have anything against Elias, it's just that I like Jani better. If Jani rejoined sonata, they could get back to their old roots. Not only that, but I think Tony's voice fits better with the music that Jani writes.

Sonata is still a great band without Jani and if people are so buggered about Elias then they need to just not listen to the new stuff and quit bitching. They played like Paid in full, The Harvest, maybe 1 or 2 other songs, then the rest were all classics. Now at the last show they played in quebec, what classics did they play? : Fullmoon, The cage. And they didn't even end their show with the Vodka song, which was right before the real last song.

I know what I'm talking about, and my friend who was with me at that show had already seen 5 SA shows, and said the same as me. Trust me, we know what we're fricking talking about. Tony still writes amazing music, and Jani leaving Sonata didn't destroy them at all, now we just have two awesome bands instead of one :) Sonata is sort of going through a change of genres, from power metal to a much more progressive sound, which I love, but maybe the complexity of their newer music lost some people. Oh yeah, I'll say it again, both bands kick ass.
