I just checked it out today. I live near by in lockport. Its sad to see it like this. I am only 14 but was wondering about saving up and trying to remodel the place. if carloscion uncle owns it then maybe i can like help out. I would make it cool and all with like sports fields in the back and the consesions and movie screen right there. I would put the sound threw radio instead on the poles. I know im young to do this but i just wanna help. I probably wont make a difference but i truly care.
Ahmazing....I recently just explored the Hilltop with a couple of friends and the poor place is standing but in miserable condition. It was very eery to go there and then view this video but awesome at the same time. We found a few old nick nacks and a real movie film reel! It was an awesome view from the 7 story Hilltop brick wall screen. Epic adventuring! Great video!
Went to the hilltop for years. I miss those days! I remember going there when I was a kid, then when I was a teen. I miss this one, Bel-air, hilite! Kids are missing out on a lot!
Nice to know of the plans to reopen. The only way to visit a closed site is to ask permission from the owners. By the way, racial comments belong on the racist video sites. All I want to do is visit drive ins, opened and closed. Best wishes for the reopening. Maybe you can get a picture of clubby 1234 and we can all go hunting!
right, they should stay off that land, its a landmark almost. Illinois was taken over by mexicans, none in Texas cause they carry guns down there haha
I think he means illegal's mexicans not american mexicans and yes illegal's will move in if its abandoned/closed. I know police offences who told me that along with drugs addicts and homeless people. really any big abandon building tell you uncle to bring a bat or something when he on his property to protect him self because they can be very unpredictable !
Hey there is this rumor that this guy that owns a few drive in's is going to rent out the Drive in from my uncles and remodel it. and start it back up. soo maybe in a year or soo..and yess the wall screen is still there..
I lived in Joliet in the early 80's I used to work at the hilltop, with Jorge the video guy that you showed in this clip. I was 14 and he'd let me drive his bronco to "sweep" the driveway. My sisters too used to work there in the 80's. Just visited Joliet last week and the wall is still up. memories.
there aren`t many drive ins left there is 1 in daytona beach florida that`s a drive in church,i saw it in 1987 and thought it was a cool idea, one of a kind you can go to church and stay in your car, people even bring their pets
i miss hilltop...i still go there sometimes to hang out with our friends and throw stuff at the screen for fun...but with all due respect...sucks that it had to go under
cool that its your uncles property, when i mean throw stuff, i mean like potatoes that are gone the next day, BUT, you should be thanking me cause i kick alot of damn beaners off of the property for you
I Remember those days I Miss the Hill top Drive IN I Remember my parents taking me there many of times when I was a child recently I passed by the old Hill Top Drive IN and it reminded me of those days.
Like i sead my uncles own it now and noo everything like the prjectors and stuff is all gone and The city wants to knock down the HILLTOP wall. But last time it was open was when the FAST AND THE FURIOUS MOVIE came out the 1st one. cant remember what year, but We play soccer in the back we have our 2 home fields there.
Oh, those poor kids at the end in the jammies! LOL...they're probably all grown up by now, perhaps with kids of their own renting "Red Dragon." ((sigh)) Ah, well, how time flies...
Wow!!I use to hang at the Hilltop from time to time , what a trip it is to see the place was still around in '91,i lived in new lenox in the early 70's and its great to see a video from "home"
haha that was nice to see...my uncles..own the hilltop now...and if you see it when u pass by on rt 6 there is 2 Soccer fields in the back...Thats where my team plays on saturdays and sundays...and the concessions stands is all now just a small hall...we trow partys in there...
Sorry I don't. I just happened to bring my camera to the Hilltop one night just to film us goofing off. I wasn't there to document the theater although looking back now I wish I would have. This was actually the only time I was at the Hilltop. I lived in the Tinley Park area so the I-80 Drive-in was the local outdoor theater for me.
