@RichGonzalezVerona "This guy is a clown, what a waist of time!" if you think something is a waste of time ,dont continue wasting time by complaining about the time you have wasted .lol and ad hominem hold is usaly a good indicator that a person has no argument .
Stupid, Clinton had a Republican Senate, & they did what they wanted hence, any credit should go to Republicans, look at who controls the house & you'll see who's doing what. Remember power was divided between the President, the Senate & the House of Representatives.
@syzygy502 If you're talking about government, ok, you're right. Republicans are for a smaller government with less bureaucracy, Democrats are for a large government with more bureaucracy. Look at FDR, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, & Obama. The last three had a terrible unemployment rates. Last point: If the Democrats creates a government job with funds/grants whatever, (like a music teacher,) & those funds stop, would you consider that a real job?
@andrij66 Clinton, Johnson, and Carter, as well as Obama have always lowered the unemployment rate. The republicans have always raised the unemployment rate.
In reality, Clinton was an unprincipled liberal. He came into office with a bold social agenda, like socialized medicine. But he was also a pragmatist. He realized that it was not the time for social change. He accepted the market policies that had led to economic success in the 1980s, and practiced them himself. This is why Clinton had a better economic record than Bush.
At the same time, Bush added more regulations than any president since Nixon, spent like a drunk sailer, put up steel tariffs, and loosened the monetary policy. These were anti-market policies. Overall, Clinton's presidency was much more pro-market and conservative than Bush's. Not to say that Clinton, himself, is more conservative than Bush. He isn't. But, Clinton practiced a more conservative economic policy than Bush.
Democrats like to act like Bush was the only Republican President ever. They frequently forget Ronald Reagan. Democrats also forget that Republicans were in control of Congress for 6 of the 8 years that Clinton was in office. This guy is looking at this way to simplistically. Clinton reformed welfare, passed NAFTA, deregulated the banks, pushed a stable monetary policy, and cut the capital gains tax by 29%. These were all pro-market conservative policies.
Clinton was lucky enough to govern during an economic boom. Fed policy has a lot more to do with the economy than anything the president is capable of doing.
@lollipopfop this will be my last comment about this. u seem to have a bad case of that "good ole boy" clinton fever. i know who ur boy is! i voted for him when u were in ur dirty diapers ok. he was a great leader like george w., but like all leaders they had flaws. both of them are history now, so why are u name-calling when i mention a president i admired? luv him or hate him,but president obama is a great leader too and times will get better. so get over it and get a damn life!! :)
Clinton gave us the lowest unemployment, the lowest interest rate, the best environment for our corporations and businesses. GOD I wish he was back. Who the heck even cares about how good a presidents marriage is. Obama and Bush Jr both are good family men. Too bad they are clueless fuckups. Bush Sr did just fine too. Not as well as Clinton, but OK. Clinton and Reagan were sensible, moderate men. People had good lives when they were in office. I wish we had someone like that again.
O yes, then there was Enron, and the war that Clinton didn't have the guts to face (USS Cole, numerous embassy bombings, World Trade Center bombing, and numerous threats from Bin Laden)
this guy claims Republicans as being hipocritical, but where is his criticism of 10% unemployment? oh, wait, that's still Bush's fault.....from over a year ago.
you gotta be kidding me, raising taxs is good for job growth??? There was an unprecidented boom in the internet, housing, and credit market. And every one of them collapsed right when Clinton was out of office. It NEVER changes. People vote by their pocketbook and keep staying ignorant. It's human nature to do as little thinking as possible.
@erickthegreat98 True, infact the economy due to increased Chinese competition and the spike from the internet among others started to go towards a recession before Clinton left office. Bush never got a legit chance to take on Behemonths like illegal immigration, school funding being low, etc... and Clinton even lucked out with the cold war ending which allowed him to slash the military budget.
@TheStoicAgnostic Well, now that Obama is in charge and Bush's tax cuts are about to be destroyed its looking like voting Democrat doesnt work either. Keep in mind also Clinton actually covered up the deficiet by borrowing heavily with China. So essentially he was taking money out of the economies right hand pocket.
and do u really believe, that sleeping with a ho, was the reason he got the boot?! sighh, nigga pleeze! that playa bill was probably mad at him because he got sloppy seconds. dick morris is the man!
a republican?..... im not a republican im a independent. open ur eyes ok. can we not agree that most, of our clerical white-collar jobs, have outsourced their offices, overseas in recent yrs? we can thank bill clinton for that!
@381MEDALLION Thats a straight out lie. Wecountries investing in us back then. Its partly Bush Jr's fault. But its Obama thats selling everything off to China like a yard sale. That has nothing to do with Clinton. You are just trying to protect your boys rep, and no one believes you.
i see most of you guys are cenk's sheep, bah bah......your hopeless! i write this for those that can think for themselves okay. the fact of the matter is clinton indirectly created most of those jobs overseas, in opppresive nations where the workers are not free to unionize, and demand higher wages, to the detriment of blue/white collar workers in this country. now go read dick morris's book entitled fleeced before you dare to dispute that fact!!
Wow now there is something rarely seen! A republican for workers rights. But of course, you are wrong, all of Clintons jobs were created right here in the USA.
And If you believe anything Dick Morris says about Clinton you are delusional. Bill fired Dick Morris after Morris slept with a hooker and Morris has been consumed with hate for Clinton ever since. He will lie and spew false info about Bill and Hill till the day he dies because he is a sad and bitter man.
It's a pity that America is so full of tools (Republicans) and apparently neo-tools (By far most Libertarians/South Park Republicans, whatever you call the new wave of pro-rich/anti-themselves idiots.)
Although even if people where a bit keener about their interests vs. that of their rich overlords, I'm still starting to fear that things might head for the worst either way. Given that nowadays it's also popular to be anti-environment. (Which is like a goldfish being against a clean bowl.)
Clinton was better and did an excellent job for the economy. Bush sucked. It's a fact. 3 million jobs on the course of 8 years. SUCKED!!!! Compared to 21 million jobs. Wow. Not even close. How do you even think Good 'ole GW did a decent job. Also, under GW, more deaths. Less jobs and more deaths. Great ole GW. Idiots.
Umm are we forgetting all the jobs bush has created for the military.. renewable jobs too.. constant turn over, and they are soooo kind they don't even require you have any education! God Bless good ol GeorgeW
if you choose to listen to cenk folks, instead of reading conservative newspapers/magazines, you must realize his opinions on his blog are liberal and directed toward young people. apparently this video must be really boring/crap to most of them because it has not gotten over 10,000 views and they posted it on here in january.
so what if his views are liberal and directed towards young people?..kay?. thought you lived in a place where you can say what you want?. 3million jobs vs 21 million jobs isnt really a lib/con thing,..its fact
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hi i was crticized by someone, no need to mention the name, because of a remark i made a month ago about fox news. listen folks its no secret that obama and the libs. dislike fox, but they are a professional news channel that strives to give balanced news, although we do realize their news coverage appeals to the conservative christian middle-age group, which includes me. the other liberal news channels turn me off !!
This guy is a dip shit. Taxes and corporation growth is what makes jobs. Tell me dumb ass why france has an ave unemployement of 14%. Because they try to spred the wealth in which you cant afford to employee every citizenery. That is because you dumb ass Clinton had a total of 4 military wars or action, which up the employement for logistics and such.. This guy is a dumb ass. Clinton took a page from the republicans on waging a military action or a war.
its not democrats vs republicans, its you(serf) against corporations (kings). This shit has been going on for thousands of years. The idea is make them hate one another for their very small differences so that they don't go after us (wealthy) for our huge differences. Anyone who makes a case for a republican or a democrat is wasting their time
you know i actually had a lot of respect for you man until i saw this crap, which is nothing more than a clever personal attack against bush! how dare you accuse fox news of bias!!!

presidents don't create jobs.business open their doors they need people creating jobs.if the companies would instead of giving the ceo's unwarranted multi million $ bonuses and put the money back into the companies they wouldn't be going belly up.we the consumers wouldn't be paying the high prices we do.the stockholders [owners] of the company are getting screwed because the boards are giving their money to the ceo's and board members.these bonuses are bankrupting the companies. stupidity
The government doesn't create jobs it only taxes money away from one person and then gives it to another yet NOTHING is produced. Get out of the way of the private sector and encourage savings and drop corporate tax rates to keep jobs here and then the jobs will grw. The 90s job growth was a false growth based on dot-bomb companies that had no real assets while our real manufacturing went overseas in the same period. Listen to Peter Schiff and he can explain it very simply.
Well, I guess we'll see won't we. Yeah, let's pay someone to dig a ditch and then fill it in. That's not a job. That's a work program and it's paid for by taking my money and giving it to the ditch digger. A "job' would be someone working in a factory that makes the shovels and then they sale the shovels and pay the employees and generate income for taxes. This "stimulus" package is a farce and you will see the dollar collapse because of it in the next year. Good luck uf00ba. I wish you well.
ugh. Clinton's job creating record is terrible. going by the Bush standard is a bad idea. How many jobs did FDR create? that should be the standard. not Clinton.
how many more could he have created if he hadn't sold this country out to wal mart? Clinton was a total fraud. He sold the Democratic party out to the same interest groups that control the republican party and now we're totally screwed.
hey!!!! wait a minute, bush created jobs.....that computer programmer up the street is working at mcdonalds now....and that autoworker now works as a jailer......those are some good jobs LOL
The American economy created 375,000 jobs a YEAR during the Bush years - the worst performance in more than 50 years. By comparison, the US economy created nearly 3 MILLION new jobs a year during the Clinton years. Clinton averaged nearly 250,000 new jobs a MONTH during his eight years in office.
Trickle-down economics might have worked under different cultural conditions (say, late 18th century, early 19th century England), but in 1980s America, the rich, when given tax cuts, were not genrally disposed to invest that much of it.
What they did invest went out of the country or to lobbying. The rest was spent on luxury items and things like private roads and police.
In the late 19th century, there was a financial panic that went completely unadressed by the federal government and joblessness reached 50%.
When FDR took office, unemployment was over 30% because Hoover had refused to do anything for two years.
(And before y'all wave your distorted American educations in my face, the fact is, unemployment came way down before WWII and we probably would have fully recovered by '45 without it.)
So yeah, its bad now, we've had it a hell of a lot worse in the past and at least one thing has been learned - that the sooner and more a government intervenes, the better.
I'm glad we elected someone who understands that. Let's hope Congress does, too.
U3 is only 7.2%, but real unemployment is 16.5% if you use the same methods as used in the 1930's. Unemployment durring this period was only about 25%. Look it up.
"didn't Madoff contribute to Democrats?" dude, do you know how vague that question was? why don't you try thinking things through before you post comments. what's more, it's untrue. even more, madoff contributed MORE to the RNC. idiot
To be fair, though; Clinton didn't have to deal with 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina or the Iraq war. The 90's were a walk in the park compared to the 00's.
All of those things you listed should create jobs. Extra security (9/11)= more jobs. Rebuilding New Orleans = more jobs. Iraq war, more soldiers and mercenaries = more jobs.
Yeah but Bush fucked up just about as bad as is imaginable. I would bet my house on the fact that Clinton would've done a better job. Heck Carter would have done a better job.
Reagan may have fucked up as badly as Bush if he had been dealt the same hand but he was more of a blowhard than actual hawk so I'm not sure if he would have invaded Iraq for no reason. He definitely wouldn't have done anything different on the economic front though.
The difference between Reagan and Bush is that Reagan rebuked the hard core Right Wing and talked to the Soviets at the end of his term. Now the word talk translates to Appeasement if your translator happens to be a Conservative talk radio host. Also, Reagan raised taxes he actually was more thoughtful than Bush ever was. He could articulate his thoughts and had been a New Deal Democrat before he felt his Party no longer represented him. He had a greater track record that Dubya ever did, too.
Uh? Reagan was the pioneer of movement conservatism. That's why they love him so much. Reagan was also the pioneer in deficit spending (the kind that both Bush Sr and Bush Jr have done). Didn't Reagan just raise payroll taxes and slash corporate taxes? He just shifted the tax burden from the wealthy to the poor(er).
Difference is however that when Reagan got into office deficit spending was kind of a good thing (bad economy) but he kept it up all his term.
Yeah I know the famous quote "my party left me" but it just doesn't match the actual record. Reagan repealed the new deal, he was NO new deal democrat. If the party 'left him' it must have been civil rights he hated so much, which would make me respect him less. In truth he was just a fierce anti communist who later turned into a fierce right winger. Certainly no new deal democrat, he WAS ONCE a new deal democrat. Not in the 80s or 70s though.
to be fair, W didn't deal with the hurricane, iraq was unnecessary & 9/11 happened because they ignored the intelligence. clinton had rwanda & sarajevo to handle
Please, i fault this administration for many things, but I know did not do 9/11. They used 9/11 for their own political purposes, which I think is worse as it uses that grief for insincere purposes, but most of the 9/11 truth information is based on half truths and stuff that's easily debunked. The "link to Bush" regarding 9/11 is something that annoys me as there are people who have real criticisms, yet are drowned out by the Alex Jones types that see conspiracy everywhere.
This was also a "Conspiracy Theory" then it was just plain old CONSPIRACY.
Julius Rosenberg and Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg were Jewish American communists who were executed after having been found guilty of CONSPIRACY to Commit Espionage. The charges were in relation to the passing of information about the ATOMIC BOMB to the Soviet Union. Theirs was the first execution of civilians for espionage in United States history.
So wake up, your Government (America) doesn't always have your best interest at heart, minorities and Third World Countries have found that out the hard way.
Every Dem president has had better job creation and economic growth than every Republican president. The best they had was Reagan and he wasn't as good as the least successful Dem.
Please show us the specific action he took, or the specific policy he advocated, or the specific legislation he initiated that created even one of those jobs.
The fact is, not presidents nor congress, nor anyone in government creates jobs. The best government can do is adopt policies that fosters an environment of entrepreneurship and risk taking. The rest is up to main street.
Is that it? Is that your response? Typical of libs. No facts or figures, just nonsense. You can't produce any facts because you have none. Clinton did little for the economy beyond NAFTA. In fact, the economy did more for Clinton and the libs than they ever did for it.
cenk already offered the facts and figures idiot. what else do you want people to find for you? go find it yourself since ur making ur own outrageous claims. by the way, i dont know the facts and figures, so dont tell me what facts i have to produce. the video says plenty.
exactly. Clinton gets credit for a better economy and more employment even though he did barely anything...it was a computer revolution. in the 1990s the economy was good because of the popularization of the internet and the world was being industrialized more in a computerized fashion....clinton didnt do shit...
How exactly has risk taking created jobs recently? I think you have that completely backwards. The government CAN create a stable economic environment in which jobs can be created by BALANCING the books. That's why Republicans are worse than Democrats at "creating" jobs. Republicans seem to love to keep the government in debt, and that's a problem.
if anybody blames Bush for the loosing of jobs then he must be silly.President has nothing to do with creating jobs.Under Clinton jobs were higher because of IT growth.During his last days in office creation of jobs started to decrease and we faced mild recession
True but the difference is REALLY big, I totally agree, a president's measure of control on economy isn't as big as people believe but a difference of 18 million in 8 years? Come on, if that's not his fault at least a little bit, then what is?
C'mon Cenk, I'm all in favor of praising Clinton and hatin' on Bush but you can't really compare 1992-2000 with 2000-2008. Bush was a major idiot and did a lot of bad things but you can't blame him for the bursting of the IT bubble for example.
Corporate Controlled Mass Media. Corporate Co-opted Congress. Internet Information Activity Suppression. Internet 2. Economic Depression. Massive Consolidation of Political Powers. Patriot Act. Military Commissions Act. End of Posse Comitatus.
Critical Changes in Martial Law Powers.
Substantiated Public Fear. Massive Consolidation in National Banks. Massive Government "bail-outs". A Political Savior.
I have failed to find where it mentions in the Constitution that it is the job of the Federal government to create jobs. Maybe the government should stick to the powers given to it by the PEOPLE in the Constitution. The PEOPLE HAVE the POWER if we would only realize it. If we would be vigilant and get rid of those in government who fail to adhere to the principles of the Constitution maybe we wouldn't be in the economic mess we're in. It's hard to concentrate when American Idol is on though.
has nothing to do with gov. creating jobs....it has to do with republcans saying if the "GOV" cuts "TAXES" for the rich; that will create jobs.....LIES, LIES, LIES. the rich take thier "GOV" money and create jobs overseas. well pls just let me keep that extra i pay in taxes and i'll decide how i want to spend it. btw any corporation operating on us soil that sends jobs overseas should pay the highest of taxes. fuck them like they have fucked the american worker.
Actually it would be better to for government to cut taxes across the board. Business and people are already taxed to the hilt. We have a government that is simply too large. We should slash the size of government, cut taxes for everyone (get rid of income tax), cut spending, and stop redistributing wealth. Let the people who work hard keep their money. I agree with you there. It's OUR job to help those in need, not letting an inefficient government do it by proxy.
Liberty is a reality. We are destroying the country our ancestors paid for by their own blood. Socialism and communism DO NOT work. If WE THE PEOPLE don't keep government in check it will only grow more tyrannical. Remember the Tea Tax and the Stamp Act? We fought a revolution because we were tired of surrendering our wealth to the government. Now... we just don't care and our government knows it.
.... No it was fought because they were tired of paying to the BRITISH government, to protect and support a country 3000 miles away.
"Socialism and commnism DO NOT work" who's talking about socialism? All the 14 free countries wealthier than the USA are far to the left of Obama. Apparently that does 'work'.
@jpbalkenende WRONG. Most of Those countries if they were part of America would be the ten poorest states in America. There ARE states here in this country that ARE to the left of Obama. Maine, New Jersey, California, Vermont, Michigan, Rhode Island Et al and are among the poorest and worst stats for jobs. So socialist and communist economies really do not work.
..Socialism does work, in fact the US has already implemented a lot of socialism such as the police, firemen and to some part healthcare.
Many other countries are already Socialist democracies and are doing quite well for themselves.
It's just as jpbalkenende says, most othe first world countries are faar to the left of Obama.
And you can keep the mf goverment in check! whaddya think the goverment could really give a big fuck you to democracy without having their heads on pikes the next day?
Wow we have graduated to personal attacks now. Congratulations. I work hard for the money I earn as an hourly worker. My grandfather was a poor coal miner here in WV for 28 years. His first house was a rail car. I learned by example from him that if I worked hard anything is possible. I would read some of the letters from the Founding Fathers to get a grasp on what this country is all about. BTW I am a capitalist shit. I also believe in adhering to the Constitution. Read it some time.
Clinton never had to compete like Bush has with the emergence of China's Job creating monster economy or India for that matter. These countries have sucked up the manufacturing/engineering/outsourcing jobs from the American economy. A point conveniently forgotten by Democrats and their propaganda! Nice try!
It's true that Clinton was in office when all those jobs were created, but that doesn't mean his administration's policies were responsible for those jobs. The dot-com bubble was coincidentally going on around 1995-2001 which created huge numbers of new jobs. Nobody was really responsible for those events. What Clinton and Bush have done has had very little impact on job creation imo. Kind of like blowing toward a bowling ball to make it veer away from the gutter.
I agree that a President can't "make" jobs but he can kill them off by signing bills, or demanding action by Congress that changes the landscape for the better and for the worse. All Presidents have done both.
Do your employment numbers take the military into account? Under Bush a lot of jobs were created in the military and supporting industies, like weapons makers and Haliburton contractors.
I dont think raising taxes was the significant factor for creating a sound economy during Clinton. Compare the growth of government, expenditures and entitlements between Bush and Clinton and you'll see, partly, why we are in our current situation.
Government doesn't create jobs unless they are expanding govt infrastructure or something. Jobs are created in the private sector and has little to do with the government.
what kind of question is that??? ask yourself what president caused a recession and which one didn't. Ask yourself how much gas cost now and what it cost when ol' bill was running this. Ask yourself, did you have a job when Bill was in and ask yourself do you have a job now. That will answer your question. Hell, I was fourteen when bill was in office and even I had a job then.
In the last 8 years, the Bush administration and the American employers worked hand and hand to mess over the American people who wanted jobs. Jobs were being outsourced or cut, employers purposely did not want to hire better people, salaries, pension etc were being cut, CEO's were getting big bonuses and so on. This system is broken! This system is ignorant and it needs to be fixed!
Wowzers!!! 21 Million to 3 million, from Clinton's to Bush's Administration......that is amazing, i can imagine everyone back when Clinton was Prez, everybody i knew went to work..even my baby brother!! But in Bush's, its like were lucky one of our parents even had a job.....j/k, but seriously..that shows how good of job some presidents can do, and others....eeehhh not so much. :P
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This fat fuck is a fucking idiot.... the only reason 21 million jobs were created under clinton was thanks to bill gates with all this PC boom clinton had nothing to do with it.. this guy is fucking stupid
Fiscal policy does take about 3-4 years to carry over, but the point is valid that trickle down economics failed for the same reason it failed in the Reagan administration. It doesn't produce demand and rampant outsourcing slows domestic job growth. I'm not even going to touch on standard of living or wage disparities but don't get too caught up in individual administrations; there's plenty of blame to go around.
Rampant outsourcing didn't stop during the 90s but increased dramatically during this period. And trickle down economics didn't fail because during the Reagon years we had extreme growth and Clinton, in a way, continued those same policies because he allowed more free trade and didn't restore the pre reagon tax rates so in a way nothing was different.
Who Created More Jobs -- Bush or Clinton? Neither of them created jobs! We the people create the jobs. Now lets ask how many jobs the govt will create under Obama.
Illegal immigrants is the reason why Bush only created 3 million jobs compared to Clintons 21 million. Bush let them slip in to work as slave labour at minimum wages, they never get reported or taxed. Dont get your hopes up about Obama, hes a puppet of New World Order. Henry Kissinger said in January 6 2009 that Obama has a chance to set up the NWO. CNN's John King said "Obama is in for a New World Order". USA is in dept to China in the same way Germany was in dept to Europe before WW2.
If we have more people than jobs-then why is Bill Gates still whining for more foriegn, HB Visas, workers while American's with PHD's take a pay cut. Why do we need million of more untrained and uneducated people in the U.S. under Amnesty; if they are just going to swell the welfare rolls? Common Sense people.
Yeah Bush created jobs that pay 2.25 every hours, jobs for Halliburton and Black water along with plenty of jobs for illegal immigrants. IT isnt about who created more jobs but the quality of the jobs.
they both did the difference is Clinton's was not that bad and was in it's early stages and as he was leaving it was fixed by both administrations however bush created a much worse one and keeps addign fuel to the fire
Let's see. Clinton left office in January, 2000. Yet clearly he was responsible for 911. And probably for the invisible response to Katrina. And certainly Iraq debacle. I am going to guess Clinton is responsible for the late 2008 economic meltdown
Results take 8 to 10 years after bills are passed if you were not aware. Usually, the next president benefits or is hurt from the previous one. THings happening on their watch is not necessarialy their fault, it depends on the issue. Most Americans are not aware of this fact, "change" does not happen over night. It takes years apon years, so if someone has a bad economy while they are in office, you cannot put 100% blame on that person. That is moronic.
Bush got BILLIONS in tax cuts to the top 5% but promised we'd have "trickle down".
Here in Houston some Oil Execs put their millions in off-shore acct's where they don't even pay tax on the int. & some even moved their oil companies off-shore.
Tiger Woods took the millions he got on Bush tax cuts & put them into Dubai Real Estate.
How's all that supposed to "trickle down"?
Okay, it's a rhetorical question! I believe we all know now the "trickle down" was BS, like the $750+ billion.
Trickle down economics=piss on the poor and middle class! Republicans build a stronger economy for the rich, while increasing the impoverished and creating a new class of peons and serfs.
If I remember correctly, when Clinton came into office some economists stated that the unemployment rate would never go below 4% again because so many ppl are difficult to place & the best we could hope for was 4-5%.
Then, if my memory serves me right, Clinton got the unemployment rate to 3.8%.
Clinton may not have been our greatest Presidents but he was 1 of the best & had he stayed in office 8 more yrs we'd have no nat'l debt today.
I watched this video twice and I didn't here it either time but maybe someone can point it out for me. Where was the talk about how Reagan set up the economy for Clinton to succeed? Where was the talk about the rising dotcom industry during Clinton and the failing during the first year of Bush's? Neither president had anything to do with either but thats just how the times go. Any also, there was no mention of 9/11 which crippled the economy. What a crock of left wing bull shit.
You wish it were that simple, every President has a bubble they ride on during their Presidency. Bush rode the financial services bubble, it burst early! Clinton obviously rode the dotcom bubble and it just so happens it did not burst under his watch. So lets be fair, Bush had several ways to pull the economy up war is always good for the economy except for this one because instead of American workers having jobs and making some of the money, we instead send the money direct to corporate powers!
Not only is war ONLY good for corporations, but during peaceful times, for those industries to survive, they need somebody to sell their weapons to.
And that is how every single rogue nation, evil organization, whatever you like to call it, is well armed - because the British and American arms manufacturers need to keep their companies going.
They sell to anyone and everyone.
The west, through it's adherence to business being the no. 1 priority, has turned the globe into a huge arms dump.
Apples and Oranges! War is great for the economy it put an end to the Great Depression! Military spending is awful for the economy because its a hole for money, money that is funneled to a smart sect of very wealthy and well-connected persons.

What the fuck "Young turks!" For your Advertisement you want free government money for all. You say that amarica should save money, and then you advertise "Free governmet money. You All are all a bunch of socialist Hypocrites. This all goes against the constitution of America, which is something you don't seem
I love how the republicans always bring up free government money. Let me tell you something buddy... No money in america is free. USA tax will take back any hand out so that it can keep the rich rich and the poor poor. I know because I have 2 homes and the system keeps me going becuase I have money to spend but my aunt who actualy NEEDS the government help cant get it because of people like YOU. And the people who do get any money from government hardly survive!
"save money" basicly means "stop shipping it all to foreighn countries and giving it all to the rich(who again put it in foreign accounts), and "free money" means stimulate the economy/the poor.
and how does anything they say go against the constitution?, hae you read it?
These were the best 8 years and I can't think of any domestic or foreign disaster by these two wonderful human beings. I hope they live a wonderful and rich retirement. One day they will be redeemed by the great granchildren of America and a 1000ft tall statue will be built in their honor and they will all kiss the heels of their feet in respect for protecting and caring for them.
So I'm curious.....how much jobs were created under Ronald Reagen?? That would be a true test of who is better, Reps or Dems. Because we know Bush is a failure in life and gave us the opportunity for us to share in his failures!
Bush must have been sleeping when he was in Economics 101!!
No he was awake. A Large debt and a massive transfer of wealth with an eye to kill social security. welfare etc.. In those terms VERY successful. Debt must be paid eventually.
And I'll say it again He doesn't really care what we think.
President Palin will be far better than Reagan. Her eight years will bring a new golden age in America, a greatness never before seen in America. She will make America prosper like never before. She will be America's GREATEST PRESIDENT, GREATER than Lincoln for Lincoln was a DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY!
u must be joking? clinton was the first president to invest in scilion valley. Unlike reagan or bush who kept wasting government money on the military, Clinton put billions of dollars into silicon valley that led to the boom of the 90s. More jobs were created in 1 week under clinton than in 8 years of bush.

how many jobs did Clinton signing NAFTA into play cost America?
FuckThatShitBitch100 7 months ago
Stupid, Clinton had a Republican Senate, & they did what they wanted hence, any credit should go to Republicans, look at who controls the house & you'll see who's doing what. Remember power was divided between the President, the Senate & the House of Representatives.

@andrij66 Oh please. You are a moron. The republicans always lose jobs and Democrats always get them back.
syzygy502 4 months ago
@syzygy502 If you're talking about government, ok, you're right. Republicans are for a smaller government with less bureaucracy, Democrats are for a large government with more bureaucracy. Look at FDR, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, & Obama. The last three had a terrible unemployment rates. Last point: If the Democrats creates a government job with funds/grants whatever, (like a music teacher,) & those funds stop, would you consider that a real job?
I consider a job something self~sustaining.
andrij66 4 months ago
@andrij66 Clinton, Johnson, and Carter, as well as Obama have always lowered the unemployment rate. The republicans have always raised the unemployment rate.
syzygy502 4 months ago
In reality, Clinton was an unprincipled liberal. He came into office with a bold social agenda, like socialized medicine. But he was also a pragmatist. He realized that it was not the time for social change. He accepted the market policies that had led to economic success in the 1980s, and practiced them himself. This is why Clinton had a better economic record than Bush.
aaasssfffdddiii 1 year ago
At the same time, Bush added more regulations than any president since Nixon, spent like a drunk sailer, put up steel tariffs, and loosened the monetary policy. These were anti-market policies. Overall, Clinton's presidency was much more pro-market and conservative than Bush's. Not to say that Clinton, himself, is more conservative than Bush. He isn't. But, Clinton practiced a more conservative economic policy than Bush.
aaasssfffdddiii 1 year ago
Democrats like to act like Bush was the only Republican President ever. They frequently forget Ronald Reagan. Democrats also forget that Republicans were in control of Congress for 6 of the 8 years that Clinton was in office. This guy is looking at this way to simplistically. Clinton reformed welfare, passed NAFTA, deregulated the banks, pushed a stable monetary policy, and cut the capital gains tax by 29%. These were all pro-market conservative policies.
aaasssfffdddiii 1 year ago

I wish we had someone like that again.
lollipopfop 2 years ago
O yes, then there was Enron, and the war that Clinton didn't have the guts to face (USS Cole, numerous embassy bombings, World Trade Center bombing, and numerous threats from Bin Laden)
this guy claims Republicans as being hipocritical, but where is his criticism of 10% unemployment? oh, wait, that's still Bush's fault.....from over a year ago.
erickthegreat98 2 years ago
you gotta be kidding me, raising taxs is good for job growth??? There was an unprecidented boom in the internet, housing, and credit market. And every one of them collapsed right when Clinton was out of office. It NEVER changes. People vote by their pocketbook and keep staying ignorant. It's human nature to do as little thinking as possible.
erickthegreat98 2 years ago
@erickthegreat98 True, infact the economy due to increased Chinese competition and the spike from the internet among others started to go towards a recession before Clinton left office. Bush never got a legit chance to take on Behemonths like illegal immigration, school funding being low, etc... and Clinton even lucked out with the cold war ending which allowed him to slash the military budget.

@TheStoicAgnostic Well, now that Obama is in charge and Bush's tax cuts are about to be destroyed its looking like voting Democrat doesnt work either. Although even if people where a bit keener about their interests vs. that of their rich overlords, I'm still starting to fear that things might head for the worst either way. Given that nowadays it's also popular to be anti-environment. (Which is like a goldfish being against a clean bowl.)

Greenandscaly 3 years ago
EyeLean5280 3 years ago
In the late 19th century, there was a financial panic that went completely unadressed by the federal government and joblessness reached 50%.
When FDR took office, unemployment was over 30% because Hoover had refused to do anything for two years.
(And before y'all wave your distorted American educations in my face, the fact is, unemployment came way down before WWII and we probably would have fully recovered by '45 without it.)
EyeLean5280 3 years ago
So yeah, its bad now, we've had it a hell of a lot worse in the past and at least one thing has been learned - that the sooner and more a government intervenes, the better.

All of those things you listed should create jobs. Extra security (9/11)= more jobs. Rebuilding New Orleans = more jobs. Iraq war, more soldiers and mercenaries = more jobs.
johnedwards1968 3 years ago
Yeah but Bush fucked up just about as bad as is imaginable. I would bet my house on the fact that Clinton would've done a better job. Heck Carter would have done a better job.
Reagan may have fucked up as badly as Bush if he had been dealt the same hand but he was more of a blowhard than actual hawk so I'm not sure if he would have invaded Iraq for no reason. He definitely wouldn't have done anything different on the economic front though.
jpbalkenende 3 years ago
The difference between Reagan and Bush is that Reagan rebuked the hard core Right Wing and talked to the Soviets at the end of his term. Now the word talk translates to Appeasement if your translator happens to be a Conservative talk radio host. Also, Reagan raised taxes he actually was more thoughtful than Bush ever was. He could articulate his thoughts and had been a New Deal Democrat before he felt his Party no longer represented him. He had a greater track record that Dubya ever did, too.
ishmaiden 3 years ago
Difference is however that when Reagan got into office deficit spending was kind of a good thing (bad economy) but he kept it up all his term.
jpbalkenende 3 years ago
Yeah I know the famous quote "my party left me" but it just doesn't match the actual record. Reagan repealed the new deal, he was NO new deal democrat. If the party 'left him' it must have been civil rights he hated so much, which would make me respect him less. In truth he was just a fierce anti communist who later turned into a fierce right winger. Certainly no new deal democrat, he WAS ONCE a new deal democrat. Not in the 80s or 70s though.

How exactly has risk taking created jobs recently? I think you have that completely backwards. Republicans seem to love to keep the government in debt, and that's a problem.

Saikr0n 3 years ago
I agree that a President can't "make" jobs but he can kill them off by signing bills, or demanding action by Congress that changes the landscape for the better and for the worse. All Presidents have done both.

Do your employment numbers take the military into account? Under Bush a lot of jobs were created in the military and supporting industies, like weapons makers and Haliburton contractors.
melora72 3 years ago

Bush has created lots of jobs:
Millions of jobs in India.
Lot of mortuary jobs in Iraq & Afghanistan.
Lot of mercenary jobs in above also.

I operate a couple of small businesses here in Houston & when Clinton was in office sometimes I would receive few calls on employment ads.
But now that Bush has screwed everyone over good, if I advertise a job the phone never stops ringing.

Kunjaku 3 years ago

EntBlog90210 3 years ago
Yeah Bush created jobs that pay 2.25 every hours, jobs for Halliburton and Black water along with plenty of jobs for illegal immigrants. IT isnt about who created more jobs but the quality of the jobs.

Who created the the recession Bush or CLinton?
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
they both did the difference is Clinton's was not that bad and was in it's early stages and as he was leaving it was fixed by both administrations however bush created a much worse one and keeps addign fuel to the fire
espltd12 3 years ago
Let's see. Clinton left office in January, 2000. Yet clearly he was responsible for 911. And probably for the invisible response to Katrina. And certainly Iraq debacle. I am going to guess Clinton is responsible for the late 2008 economic meltdown
jennnkc 3 years ago 2
Results take 8 to 10 years after bills are passed if you were not aware. Usually, the next president benefits or is hurt from the previous one. THings happening on their watch is not necessarialy their fault, it depends on the issue. Most Americans are not aware of this fact, "change" does not happen over night. It takes years apon years, so if someone has a bad economy while they are in office, you cannot put 100% blame on that person. That is moronic.
flyingtorpedo 3 years ago
Bush got BILLIONS in tax cuts to the top 5% but promised we'd have "trickle down".
Here in Houston some Oil Execs put their millions in off-shore acct's where they don't even pay tax on the int. & some even moved their oil companies off-shore.
Tiger Woods took the millions he got on Bush tax cuts & put them into Dubai Real Estate.
How's all that supposed to "trickle down"?
Okay, it's a rhetorical question! I believe we all know now the "trickle down" was BS, like the $750+ billion.
DillonX 3 years ago 2
Trickle down economics=piss on the poor and middle class! Republicans build a stronger economy for the rich, while increasing the impoverished and creating a new class of peons and serfs.
seamoremonster 3 years ago 3
Forget the top 5%. It is all about the top 0.1%.
jennnkc 3 years ago
If I remember correctly, when Clinton came into office some economists stated that the unemployment rate would never go below 4% again because so many ppl are difficult to place & the best we could hope for was 4-5%.
Then, if my memory serves me right, Clinton got the unemployment rate to 3.8%.
Clinton may not have been our greatest Presidents but he was 1 of the best & had he stayed in office 8 more yrs we'd have no nat'l debt today.
Instead we poured money down a rat-hole.
DillonX 3 years ago 5
I watched this video twice and I didn't here it either time but maybe someone can point it out for me. Where was the talk about how Reagan set up the economy for Clinton to succeed? Where was the talk about the rising dotcom industry during Clinton and the failing during the first year of Bush's? Neither president had anything to do with either but thats just how the times go. Any also, there was no mention of 9/11 which crippled the economy. What a crock of left wing bull shit.
Kcchris87 3 years ago
You wish it were that simple, every President has a bubble they ride on during their Presidency. Bush rode the financial services bubble, it burst early! Clinton obviously rode the dotcom bubble and it just so happens it did not burst under his watch. So lets be fair, Bush had several ways to pull the economy up war is always good for the economy except for this one because instead of American workers having jobs and making some of the money, we instead send the money direct to corporate powers!
Ezekiels1 3 years ago
War is not good for the economy. It is good for some sectors, but overall it is a drain on any economy. Military spending has wrecked many an empire
jennnkc 3 years ago
Not only is war ONLY good for corporations, but during peaceful times, for those industries to survive, they need somebody to sell their weapons to.
And that is how every single rogue nation, evil organization, whatever you like to call it, is well armed - because the British and American arms manufacturers need to keep their companies going.
They sell to anyone and everyone.
The west, through it's adherence to business being the no. 1 priority, has turned the globe into a huge arms dump.
cinesimonj 3 years ago
Apples and Oranges! War is great for the economy it put an end to the Great Depression! Military spending is awful for the economy because its a hole for money, money that is funneled to a smart sect of very wealthy and well-connected persons.

There is no reason to complain about Bush/Cheney.

Bush must have been sleeping when he was in Economics 101!!
lebaneseameer 3 years ago
No he was awake. A Large debt and a massive transfer of wealth with an eye to kill social security. welfare etc.. In those terms VERY successful. Debt must be paid eventually.
And I'll say it again He doesn't really care what we think.

More jobs were created in 1 week under clinton than in 8 years of bush.
