  • He's amazing, i haven't seen any southern style martial artist do a job better than him on youtube yet... not to mention, today's wushu compeition are all flips and stunts, he actually empahsizes power and speed... just that i saw him get really tired after the first 4 sections of the form, never the less, i loved it....

  • Best of the best!

  • R.I.P yang shi wen :(

  • cool shoulders!!!

  • @g888

ik heb geen idee waar je het over hebt men -_-

    wat is zever?

  • OMFG WHAT BODY FAT?

  • @maginotic ?????

  • @g888 he have an very clean body no fat , this i say :P

  • i quited wushu 7 years ago and was a nanquan athlete during the compulsory form period. Only this guy still makes me feel excited watching southern fist. Never really liked all the flashy changquan stuff and new nandu jumps in nanquan. Yang Shi Wen is how southernfist should be. respect to this legend who is not anymore among us.

  • This guy reminds me of Wolverine in Berserk mode.

  • which team was he on? beijing?

  • @travishsieh

    guang dong team.

  • nan quan forever!!!!

  • As a Choy Lee Fut practitioner, I really am impressed at the quality of his movements and speed/power of execution.

One of the most impressive Nan Chuan performances I've seen.

Does this master do Choy Lee Fut? Or just Hung Gar?.. Because I believe I have seen him performing Hung Gar...

  • @mikungfu thnx for the comments, i'm afraid this master is no longer with us ! sorry

  • @g888 wat happened to him

  • @SoundwaveSuperior373

    Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

  • @mikungfu He does Wushu guy.

  • @mikungfu Judging from his movements it looks like he at least has some experience in CLF.

  • @ichibanniko : Being a CLF practitioner and teacher myself for 20 years, that's what I thought too. Although I may always be misjudging the facts because there are similar southern styles which could lead to similar biomechanics.

What really baffles me is to witness most comments here are about something as irrelevant as how big his shoulders are. What in hell does that have to do with good wu-shu whatsoever?!....

Once again, in this day and age, it's always about appearance. Never about being.

  • @mikungfu Well, that's just the nature of YouTube I guess. I just try to ignore all useless comments from all those keyboard warriors :)

  • @mikungfu The statements about his shoulders are just comments. It's not like nanquan athletes today are judged by their muscularity. While it's true that wushu has become much too cosmetic, I think you're overreacting a bit. Yang Shi Wen inspired an almost cult-like following and this is just some peoples' way of showing their admiration.

  • @Jaygenius: You may be right that this is how people express their cult-like admiration. But I'm not talking about how Wu-Shu is becoming increasingly cosmetic (with its new free-style like competitions). I'm not even saying that the judges would classify his performance based on his muscularity. What I'm saying is that although most people commenting here are probably chinese martial arts practitioners, they are more imressed with his body aesthetics than his quality of movements.

  • @mikungfu i kinda reacted the same as you when i noticed ppl commenting that he got large shoulders... there are tons of ppl that are very built, but what i was impressed about was his potential.... i don't like this form much (becz ima a traditional southern style practionioner) but seeing his movements really impressed me.. not his build... i have the same build as him, but i can't do those movements nearly as good... yet :D

  • the king!!

  • i never saw so fast nan quan punches...

  • Can someone xplain to me what Nanquan is please?

  • @graduator08 nanquan means southern (nan) first (quan).

it's a wushu (kung fu) routine of empty hands. it differs from the northern fist is his more strong and heavy movements, stances and other technical stuff. you should see some changquan form and compare, you'll know better.

  • @AndreRMestre Please never refer to Wushu as kung fu again.

  • @spacebum Ok, but since I was explaining fundamental things, it is helpful to make the connection. There's really no need for being picky about it... wushu isn't a precise term anyway, since it can refer to all matial arts forms from China. And there's a lot of them...

What I'm trying to say is: "Don't be that guy". Got it? ; )

  • @AndreRMestre Fair enough guy, just don't like to be associated with kung fu (fyi kung fu isn't a precise term either, but if you are using it for the deadheads, fine). Peace my martial arts brother :D

  • @spacebum Why not? if a person shows "the skill," then it is Kung Fu!

  • @spacebum Why not? if a person shows "the skill," then it is Kung Fu!

  • 利害!! 快, 變,力
