i remember walking out of Serrano high school one of those days and seeing a huge cloud over in oak hills, then later you could see it from the main road...traffic was backed up, there were choppers flying around, and that big plane too...later we went riding motorcycles up in the ridges near 138 and rode out to oak hills and saw it closer.
@emadec Talked to my dad who is a resident of oak hills and he said that not only did the plane take two hours to get to you guys, but that the fuel contract was also cancelled. So the plane had to fly to landcaster instead of victorville to get fuel. And this is what is called "saving money". Idiots.
@vegasjinx Didn't take 2 hours... and didn't go to Lancaster to get fuel, nor is it even on the budget of the state right now. But that's beside the point. You are correct that they are idiots.
@desertrunrdude First drop at least that I saw (and he flies right over our house, hard to miss) from the DC-10 was at 4:12pm, second one at 6:45pm. I don't think it got the ok to go until it got too big to control with the other 14 air tankers. That thing is just awesome, so is the crew on the ground and in the air. we had another brush fire a little over a month ago in my street, they got it under control in less than an hour and saved all structures.
Nice footage didn't expect to see any thing on Youtube so quick. NICE. They flew fhe big plane down from sac I see. That thing drops alot of red stufff...
