My first ever rental from our local video shop was the Sega Master System version, which remains my favourite of all games.
When I found the Amiga version in a second-hand shop, I bought it and couldn't believe the number of small differences. The worst element of the MS version is the horrible alternating platforms on the last level - mess up a jump and begin the level again. Amiga owners had it so easy.
Don't forget about the Monster World Original Soundtrack! This features the music of WBM
i had this game on the amiga copied disk but i swear it was just called Wonderboy! and i cant find it anywhere, mind you the disk is long died and i havent played it in a good 2 years :-) be interested in anyone who can convert ADF to Amiga Disk!
This version should have been availible on Sega Genesis as the launch title! (maybe someone should port this version to the Genesis, since Stormlord for the Genesis was a port of the Amiga version, so it is possible)
This was my favourite platform game ever, its just more playable to me than even sonic. Epicness. I would love it if somebody would do remixes of the songs! Amazing
If you really are a nostalgic of Wonder Boy & Monster World videogames then I suggest you to visit my channel. There you will find a few promotional video and download links of a new fan-made and FREE Wonder Boy game called "Monster World RPG".
Say, why isn't the Master System version this awesome when the PC Engine (which if ya didn't know is an 8-bit console with 16-bit grafx) has an arcade perfect port? I think the ol' SMS could pull it off.
ho man....i have seen loads of amiga game videos...but this brough me ollldddd memories....damn...thx for the video mate!!these are the best games ever...old school ones..
Yeah I played most on the Saga Master System in the Early 90's I loved them all, all the C64. Ammstrad, Spectrum, Agaia Atria ST and all the rest YESSSSSSSSS, BRING BACK THE GOOD DAYS OF "NICE" COMPUTER GAMES/
You are missing out a lot of hidden coins (especially on clouds) and didn't use the flute in Pororo for the alternative route. Or was it supposed to be a speedrun?
I have played the sega 16bit version, must say that its much better then this one :/ though I have troubles with the last boss ^^;; too bad there in no play through on that one :P

Well, I just played through the Master System port and that one has really slow gameplay and poor, murky sound with less music tracks. There are more colors, but it lacks a lot of details and animations. Alo lacks boss introductions, text popups and a few of the enemies (no skeletons or mini-congos, no vampire lords, knights, mushrooms or congos as enemies). It does have the sphinx quiz and labyrinth (hate it) end level, less slowdown, and the bosses are often tougher.
Yes, the C-64 version was a better experience, especially when considering the limits of that computer. Amiga 500 SWB could be a much better game, like the original SEGA Super Wonderboy which had a very difficult last level, some sort of a maze, before the last "guardian".
That guy missed some good sword and shield upgrades, relied a bit to much on magic weapons.
If you have and post the complete Cadaver and Lost Patrol longplay, you will be my hero! :)
All the time wasted for getting to know that the dradon was a GODDAMN ROBOT?!?! xD Jesus Christ! xD

Did the programmers ever get to the final boss whilst making the game? The final boss is a robot dragon.

It's a shame that they always rushed Amiga conversions. Even the Master System had the maze at the end, and the dragon took on two forms.

Another shitty Atari ST port, with jerky scrolling, glorious 16 colour graphics, and as a bonus: Atari ST sound emulation.

It looks (and sounds) like a straight port of the arcade version, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how much of a purist one actually is.
It certainly didn't play like the arcade version though! The controls were more fluid in the arcade original.
