Typical Midwestern girl. Not enough of them. The US is the most energy independant counrty in the world, in that 60% of the oil it uses comes from the continental mainland and Alaska. I don't believe that there would be a sudden turn off of oil but a gradual slowdown in availability. I think the collapse of the housing market you see mainly in california is due mostly to finacial overload due to vote buying. The cars that we drive today are too big and heavy and use too much gas.
everybody loves you...sorry for my english...but i had to say that i love you too yeaaahhhh!!!!...es increible la conbinacion tal ves inconsiente de los elementos que requiere un producto comercial como lo esta siendo tu canal de youtube, primero porque no se vende...jajaja y segunda que; pues con ella te dirijes a una consiencia general, y eso le da el valor suficiente que notan todos y todos te aman por ello , incluso yo... me encuentro mega inloved de ti... no mames...jajaja sigue asi...
Peak Oil is like wakeing up to a bad science fiction movie. Your mind wants to tell you it can't be happening, but when you look at the data it tells you the world peaked in 2005. And like most things it is only starting to be talked about on the MSM when you know it's already past the easy way to fix and into the hard landing phase.
Peak oil and the nasty hyperinflationary depression that's heading our way will bring major hard times. Major unemployment. Those who are still employed will feel very lucky. Work will be more physically demanding, with longer hours and lower pay. Commutes will be difficult and they'll take much more time. I think we can deal with it as a nation but some communities will fail and we may have refugees wandering around just like in the grapes of wrath.
2. A lot of men will be so totally exhausted by the end of their 10 hour day of backing breaking physical labor that they won't have enough energy left to repair their work clothes, maintain the garden, cook nutritious meals and so on. Many men who have been fairly content to be single forever (as I have) may find that they need help to get these critically important home making jobs done. Having a good hardworking level headed wife might soon be critical to survival.
I agree with what you said but i always wince when i hear Americans talk about hard work. If your American.
We have it soooo good compared to 3rd world folks. Even if things fall apart disastrously i dont think we will ever experience the truly backbreaking and humbling lifestyle the poorest of the poor experience. And there a lot of them folks on this planet.
That's a good point. In this country we do have an excellent infrastructure built up (although it's decaying a bit now). When energy starts to become expensive though, we will have to make up for it with muscle power and creativity or do without. There are many extremely hardcore physical jobs in the US, believe me I've worked a few of them! I never said we'd totally live like the 3rd world, but work (what there is of it) will me harder.
2. Road82: If I'm right, a lot of the serious blue collar jobs are probably going to be more stable than most, while a lot of white collar, retail and food service jobs will be laying off.
In the Depression, marriage might make sense again. "Home maker" might look like an excellent situation to a lot of unemployed women. And right about then, the men who are still lucky enough to be working will be overstressed & in need of help. In that situation marriage qualifications will change. Instead of looking for a hot chick, I'll be looking for someone who can cook healthy meals, sew, garden, shoot accurately, and is tough as nails! Looks will be secondary.
thanks so much...who knows, maybe sometime soon i will have to be wearing a burlap bag because all the plastic bags in the world will be highly coveted!
Ya, I save all of my plastic bags (although I don't get them often since I use canvas shopping bags and I even reuse my plastic produce bags). When I do get them, I add them to a roll under my sink.
I'm also buying a pair of jeans or an extra shirt or two every month and add them to my storage shelves (without even pulling the tags). In the future clothing is going to be expensive so it will be nice to have a supply stashed away. That way I won't have to wear plastic bags ( :

Easier said than done. Who here remembers how to farm? Anyone? I thought so. I don't know how to farm myself. There is much work to be done, indeed!
