Windows does this automatically... and anyways hard drives are not as quick as RAM, so relying on this tip instead of buying RAM will impair performance.

i would defragment your hardrive b4 you do this also you can use windows ready boost if you have a flash drive it helps.

VM / Swap file can help speed up the computer but not to the extend you would expect. However this would mean more activity on the hard drive and can have the opposite effect. To really speed up the machine get some cheap RAM.

Ideally Swap / VM should be placed on a different partition to the OS. Or you can take it to the next level with PF/VM, place it on a really fast secondary HDD.

Dont just change the value of the VM/PF as the video shows, this all depends on how much ram your mahine has.

I bought some cheap kingston ram, didnt cost much, cost me £70 = $100, arrangement 2GBx4. Works well, and these ram modules are half the size of full height rams.

Using any I/O device (I think Vista can use USB flash also) to store memory pages actually hinders performance. The only reason to use a swap file is for running programmes that require more memory than the available physical RAM, because you wouldn't be able to use them otherwise.
