  • Ouch! Well done for not freaking! Probably more pissed off than anything! Thumbs are pretty useful. Hope it turned out not too bad. Highlights just how careful you have to be.

  • This diver is awesome for not reacting, he kinda looked at it. i think it got smashed in the parts moving

  • gaaaah fuck it wasn't so bad until he started climbing and his thumb looked like it was scraping along the rope.

    Fffffffffffuuuuuuuu

  • You got to love the brits cool as ice in any bad situation

  • nah im good just tie it up with that dirty rag

  • NICELY DONE............LOL

  • BALLS

  • He's not screaming like a girl. Can't explain that!

  • He won't be able to thumbs down this video

  • has to be fake hes not screaming

  • That was excruciating just to watch, I can only imagine what was going through his mind after the incident spontaneously happened in mere seconds, hope the lad is doing alright now.

  • How the hell did he manage that? One minute thumb, the next minute its magically gone....

  • I give this 1 and 1/2 thumbs up

    :: rimshot ::

  • Even in Open Water you learn basic first aid. What are these noobs doing in the water?

  • Man, I was just hoping this wasn't a Delta P incident. Glad you're alright.

  • OMFG! O~o

  • holy shit i freaked out way more than he did and i was just watching it

  • @tezmellez dam right cheers mate

  • @tezmellez this is an actual video of my dad. his name is Paul Baker. still has most of his thumb but the funny thing is tht his nail still grows so its like a talon lol

  • HE DIDNT SCREAM CAUSE HE'S NOT A BITCH!!

HIS THUMB IS GONE THOUGH :(

CAUGHT BETWEEN THOSE TWO METAL BRACKETS PROBABLY..

    FAIL!

  • Where are the sharks when you need them?

  • Kinda crazy! You know u can also read amazing dive stories on the myscubastory site. Type myscubastory into google and click on the first seach result !

  • Ow.

  • Awesome I love this kind of shit. It isn't fake dont say it's fake because he's calm. Know your facts before you talk like a uneducated dipshit. Everyones not a wussy.

  • what happened?

  • @UNNAM3D82 sorry mate , all real , you dont feel much once is in the water and also shock makes you feel nothing

  • @bluepearldiver But what the hell could have possibly caused such an injury? I mean it must be something really, really sharp or have an insane velocity to do that o_O

  • @bluepearldiver I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure that he's not in shock of any sort at any time in this video.

  • @UNNAM3D82 How could this be fake, Dude.... When you are a commercial diver you have to remain calm in ANY situation. He cut the top of his thumb of, Yes FUCKING OUCH haha, But he remained calm, Listened to the people on the surface and made his way back up to seek medical attention.

  • @UNNAM3D82 you're stupid

  • @UNNAM3D82 ya dude he just wanted to dive down in the middle of nowhere and fake his thumb coming off. these are the best special effects ive ever witnessed, your a fucking idiot.

  • @UNNAM3D82 he's a professional diver. he is trained to remain calm in an accident, if he starts freaking out he's pretty much dead.

  • Cool motherfucker.....why didnt he have gloves on? Not that it would have helped haha

  • How exactly did he cut his thumb? I can't tell how it happened.

  • oh shit that sucks!!!!!

  • been there done that !!!!!!!

  • Us Australian divers all ways say, dont put your finger were you wont put your dick

  • your dam wright

  • @l06hardn that quot rocks

  • the exposed bone stump is a pretty nasty visual ...

  • Fucking hell.. I think i'd have blacked out. Maybe its the shock and/or adrenalin that keep him going like that.. but still.. tough..

  • u r one tough dude.. thumbs up man

  • @MaxxDiver u mean bones up?

  • this guy is so boss. idc if he screwed up or what, he sure as hell isnt a pussy

  • An accident caused through lazy and stupid rigging practices. The load should have been on 'static' - how did they expect the diver to bolt-up a clamp with that much movement without breaking something?

  • I've hung one of those, on a platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Even if it's rigged from something stationary, a clamp like that can still move around from the surge. You just have to pay constant attention and keep OUT OF THOSE DAMN PINCH POINTS. I really feel for the guy. A finger tip or two, you can get along without, but it's hard to work without a thumb. Big, hard things just couldn't care less about our soft, little parts.

  • as someone mentioned below it was a boat landing stage module being installed, dont know the diver but the supv was big Larry P i think berkcam may know him or did im sorry to say. RIP

  • Tough dude.

  • Holy Crap. The dude's breathing hardly changes!! That's one tough fellah!

  • I would not blame on the diver, since there are a lot of things offshore that can get out of control.

Crane operator can jerk the block accidentally, rolling vessel, bad rigging and so on.

Offshoreworkmates com welcomes all commercial divers.

    Feel FREE to join us.

  • The diver is a brit called Paul and is a top bloke, although probably not quite as good on the playstation as he once was. The supervisor is Larry (RIP) who is very respected and liked within the industry.

The accident occured because the boat landing being installed was moving on the crane and the diver let his thumb get between the two half shells.

  • I think the diver is a american aussie named John

  • no mate he's name is paul and he's a english guy

  • how did he get the cut? sharp edge on structure?

Dude makes wherever hes from proud.

  • No panic, no drama.

Had to be a brit, just got on with it.

Ha ha, you're all right, no big fish in the water.

  • gomdiverjay awsome comment this guy is one rugged dude!

  • what can you say, thats an old school diver!!!! hard as nails

  • this guy is awesome. Calm as hell. I would be screaming.

  • Composure much? His breathing is more controlled then mine in the hat with the top of his thumb off.

    Respect.

  • ouch!

  • That is a professionnel fucking commercial diver...RESPECT

    Manu French Commercial Diver

  • ....this goes back to the best lesson I learned in dive school: "Never stick your finger where you wouldnt stick your penis"

  • @GomdiverJay can u tell me what happened to his finger? lol

  • Take a part the thumb in the clamp, but this shit Happend. this guy is really cool blood. He kept his nerve till the end. Good man.

  • F##king strong effort, Kudos to the Diver.

    Two thumbs up!!!!
