I like the Giraffe. Nice work all round, but do you have a problem with the solar powered version with the sunlight damaging the paper?

@TrippleDragon No.. but then live in Scotland so sunlight is a bit of a novelty. Besides it's only paper. If it gets damaged it's easily fixed or replaced.

The horse filmed here in 2007 is still hanging in the same spot and working fine. I had to fix one of its paper joints this year but it took all of 5 minutes.

Think what would happening if it could compensate changes in the ground or wind so it never could fall and still be stable. That would be really cool. Perhaps we could invent that first with mechanic and than implement some very small electronic or chip that could controls it.

Yeah I don't like the music much, the beginning wasn't bad. And then it got worse. And it made no sense. And she tried too hard to be deep. And she says "and" too much. And she squeaks and squeaks. The euphoria is from the background (harp?), which makes it peaceful, but she is annoying otherwise.

I am really amazed by how many people feel the need to share their negativity about a solar powered paper horse. I also really thought it was shameful how many people thought it was "pointless." As for assembly time, depends on the ability of the builder. I'd recommend building it over 2 or 3 evenings.

simple answer: it has a solar panel on its back.

long answer: if you go to my web site there's a schematic of the circuit I'm using to store the energy in a capacitor then discharge it to the motor once there's enough to run the horse for a few seconds.
