Uh...I play violent video games and watch slashers, but I hardly ever got into fights at school. I mostly ignored people who wanted me to fight them.

I really don't think portrayals of fantasy violence necessarily promote actual violence - it depends completely on the viewer. But the rise in school shootings followed the rise of Doom, Mortal Kombat and slasher flicks, and angry parents wanted to blame everyone but themselves.

Humans are innately violent, but are torture porn movies like Saw really necessary? They certainly don't help anything.
