I hate how on all of these GREAT youtube videos relating to WW2, there are pointless arguments of opinion. Nobody cares! I'd be interested in hearing from Tiger / firefly / T-34/76 crews...
@Jonny189 Just think of normal people crossing the path of this monster during the war .... we are used to watch tanks on videos ,but at that time there was no tv ,videos aso ... I don't think we are able to imagine the fear it inspired to our humble ancestors :(
My god look at the size comparison between the Sherman. The barrel difference as well. Sherman tank crews spotting a tiger=FEAR. It's no wonder why they tried to out-manuever them.

Over engineered, oversized. waste of resources. Not that effective in combat, no more than a jagdtiger or jagdpanther. 2 1945 centurions or pershings working together would have killed one easily.

Tiger 2 could destroy tanks at over 3 km, the 17pdr barely could aim at a tank 700m away. All English WW2 tanks were crap Michael Wittmann all alone destroyed an entire British armored column with a single Tiger 1.
British tanks easily destroyed Tiger 2s... hahahah!! The only thing British had to engage Tiger 2 were airplanes and artillery.
@SuperiorBeen the 17 pdr was the best tank and anti tank gun gun of the war, moron. The 17 pdrs destroyed tiger 1s easily at 1,000 metres, as when Witmanns unit was vaporised by sherman fireflys of the yorkshire yeomanry in august 1944, one firefly took out 3 tigers in 90 seconds!! lol tiger trash
The tiger 2 was a pointless, overweight piece of crap, which a pershing or centurion, (deployed in april 1945 moron) or comet, with APDS 17pdr or 90mm rounds, would have destroyed.
@5000433 17pdr the best antitank weapon of the war? HAHA! R U insane? APDS 17pdr were so horrible that even if they penetrated the armour they didn't do enough damage to the inside of the tank that's why they started using HE rounds. And the accuracy as I said was crappy at long ranges. Tiger 2 had a 8 to 1 kill ratio BTW! Usually the Tigers 2 were destroyed by their crews after were out of fuel or mechanical breakdowns so the actual kill ratio was even higher.

The 17 pdr was the best allied armour penetrator, and the 20 pdr fitted to centurion in the spring of 1945 was the best tank/anti tank gun of the war. Look it up. Your point about the 17 pdr causing "relatively little damage" in a penetrative hit is a moot one, especially if you were a T2 crewman either being decapitated or losing both legs or arms.
